Martell's Automotive Repair Reviews (1)

Message: Regarding: ID # *** (Martell’s Automotive Service)Please find attached a copy of the Repair Order that I have on file at my repair shop and the yellow copy was given to the Customer, *** *** on 9/25/everything on the repair order had been gone over prior with her over
the phone and once again at the time she came to my repair shop on 9/25/15, everything was explained to her once again and *** *** signed the repair order and left her car in my hands to be taken to *** *** *** as she authorized it was ok to take it to them.Ms*** BM 328I was towed into my shop for a no start problemCustomer stated that she was told that the problem had to do with the fuel pump and it was under warranty as she was told this by somewhere elseAnd her boyfriend had said beside the fuel pump it needed a cam sensor So apparently this vehicle had been at another repair shop prior to coming to mine and for some reason they did not have the work completed thereI am not sure why and I never asked.I put vehicle on scanner and a code came up for a fuel pump, we tested fuel pump, but it was workingWe found that there was no power to fuel pump, so we check the relay, but that also came out okWe checked the ignition switch, switch worked on and off at timesI did order a part to see if that was the problem, as when the part came in it happened to be the wrong on, which does happen at timesI sent it back then got the correct one but it did not make the vehicle start, I did not charge the customer the part and returned it back to the store. In the mean time warranty was contacted as she said the fuel pump was covered, but contacting warranty and waiting for them to answer took a few days for them to get back to me, so that was out of my handsBy time the warranty contacted me back, I had once again rechecked the fuel pump and found it working properly at the times I tested it, so I informed the warranty department that I did not feel comfortable for them to send me a check at that time unless I could prove it really needed a fuel pumpSo I declined the warranty checkAnd with all the diagnosing time I put into it and the fuel pump still running properly, I had decided to inform the customer that I think it would be better to sublet her vehicle to another repair shop right down the street from mineI had gone to consult with *** *** *** and see when he would be able to take a look into Ms*** BMW ,repair shops do consult at times with each other, that is not against the law, he never touched her car at that time and I did not leave her car in his hands as it was at my shop because it would not start, Ms*** vehicle was in my hands the whole timeAll I did was go to consult with *** *** *** and was told he would not be able to look at the BMW 328I until Monday, 9/28/So with that I contacted Ms*** to inform her that I recommend her vehicle be taken to *** *** *** but he would not be able to look at it until Monday 9/28/And I would need her to come in to sign the repair order at my shop to show she authorized taking it to another shopMs*** came to my shop on 9/25/and her vehicle was at my shop at that time, I went over the entire repair order (see attached) with her even about her car being sublet to *** *** *** and she sign the repair orderShe complained about paying a couple of extra days for a rent a carSo out of good faith, I told her I wasn’t charging her any diagnosing fees and that I normally don’t do this but would give her a one time check for $toward her rent a car, but I wouldn’t giver her any moreShe accepted that and accepted the check and signed the repair order with this information also showing on repair order Ms*** cashed the check (see copies of front and back of cashed check by her) When she came to my shop her windows were down, which is my policy that if the windows work I will roll them down to prevent the keys from being locking in a customer car by accident and her vehicle was not extremely dusty, I would say a dusty, we are in Modesto, CA, it’s full of farm land and cropsThere is no way to get away from any dust in Modesto, but Ms*** vehicle was not extremely dusty, once again it was a dust that any car would have anywhere after a few days being anywhere in Modesto or any near by cities. The customer and her boyfriend did contact my shop many several times a dayThey need to keep in mind that it’s ok to contact to check on a status of Ms*** vehicle, that’s but there’s a point when it becomes several times a day and that in a way is harassingI’m was trying to diagnose her vehicle and it’s stressing to try and diagnose and have someone call several times a day when your are trying to diagnose and give them a proper answer, when calling over and over it’s hard as i’m still in the middle of diagnosing the vehicle to get them an answer They need to give time to let someone diagnose properly and they were not. I do not owe and will not give any more money to *** ***, I offered her a one time check for $toward her rent a car, which I normally do not do and did it out of good faith and told her I would not go any more and she accepted that $check (and has cashed that check see attached copies) and she signed the repair order that has that listed on it accepting this. And I did not break any law about taking a car to another repair shop with out authorizationFirst of all Ms*** BMW was not running so the only way it could get there was to be towed, which I was not going to tow it to another shop without a Customer approval and I did have her approval on 9/25/to take it there on 9/28/I had gone to *** *** *** to consult with him (which is not against the law, other repair shops do the same) All I did was consulted with them as I wanted to see if they could look into it if the customer gave me authorization to bring them her vehicle (which she did on 9/25/15) and if they could, find out when so I could let the customer know and he informed me they couldn’t look at the car until Monday, 9/28/and that’s what I informed the customerI also informed her that Martell’s Automotive would not be responsible to pay any charges to *** *** *** that she would be responsible for any diagnostic charges, part charges and or labor charges, and she agreed by signing the repair order on 9/25/15.Please note that I did not charge the Customer any diagnosing fees since I was not able to come up with why the car would not start ( My rate is $per hour), but I charged nothing to the customer and This is why I recommended to her that the vehicle be sublet to *** *** ***, and she accepted and authorized it to go to *** *** ***, I did not take it there with out any authorization first from *** ***. Thank you,*** ***
