His brother is just like him
I hired Jerry Lucas, brother of Martin Lucas to do some railings in my house. He took $500 deposit and never came to do the work. Almost worse than this, he took one of my spindles, from a 120 year old staircase with him, so he would have a template to make new spindles. He didn't make new spindles and he never brought back the irreplaceable one that he took, despite repeated, polite requests by phone and text. This man has no soul, he is an empty immoral shell of a man. I gave up on getting my money or my spindle back, I just don't ever want to be in his evil presence. Stay away from him.

Martin Lucas must do the same thing to everyone. I wish I had checked this site prior to hiring him. He did a half-as job in my home. Luckily we did not pay in full. He only answers if I call 600 times in a row. Which I will continue to do until he finishes. My stairs have been unfinished for two months. He is a thief and a horrible person. He comes across very nice but it is a scam. Do NOT HIRE this man. I have put complaints in with the BBB & I will go to the police as well. I would like the materials I have already paid for. I have no issues going to his home as well as asking for my materials. His address IS LISTED.

Martin Lucas is a criminal. Similar to the stories above, he took $1600 deposit from me made a list of promises of dates that he did not follow through on. We spent months begging him to come and he simply no-showed. Since then I've heard a rumor that he didn't pay his rent and that he was evicted from his shop. Stay away.

We contracted Martin in November 2017 for Radius stairs costing $12,500 he took a deposit of $5000 to start after Thanksgiving! Didn’t show up till January 25th after numerous phone calls and text messages. He finally came and said I have a weeks of work here, your stairs are build already. Came in installed half the stairs, didn’t show up for weeks after that, called and complained many times that this is dangerous because we have 4 children that can fall down these stairs, finally showed up to supposedly start the top floor, banister, and bottom unfinished step, Sheetrock! And did absolutely nothing that day but rip up plywood, that now me and my kids are walking on and almost fell right into them last night! I told him I’m taking him to court if he’s a no show this week, and he still hasn’t showed up, it’s March 1st 2018..., My Family also gave him deposit of $2000 for railings for their house, and then $5000 for another set of stairs! He is literally a thief! I don’t ever want to see this man again, he’s not trustworthy and very very unprofessional! I will be taking him to court for all my money back, and the damage and money he’s has cost me with all my other contractors that I have working on my house.

Review: Me and my family just purchased a home in nj and had martin install new stairs and railings. We paid him the down payment in cash and when he finished the job we would pay the rest . He finished a day earlier and late at night which was fine so we gave him a check of the difference 2,100 which he brought to a check cashing in staten isl .. The check cashing verified the funds and paid martin the 2,100...well the check did not clear and the check cashing place called him and said the check did not clear so martin contacted us and said the check did not clear and he did not recieve his money "which he did from the check cashing... We checked our account and saw the money never came out so we gave him the money in cash which he already recieved from the check cashing ... Now page avenue check cashing is calling us for the money which martin stole from us and we cannot get in touch with him and neither can page avenue check cashing on staten island ..this man robbed me and my wife and we do not know what to do ... Thank touDesired Settlement: Give the check cashing the cash martin stole from me and my wife asap

Review: One day in September on 2014 Martin came in and gave us an estimate for the door arches. He asked for a deposit that was more than half of the job. He said that he is going on vacation, but someone with come in next week to take the measurements. No one showed up next week or the following week, or weeeeeks after that. Finally we were able to get him to come in and take the measurements. He promised that he will be back next week and it will take 2 days to finish the job. It is going on second month and no arches, no phone call. He does not answer his phone. His mailbox is full and you cannot leave messages. Last week we called him with blocked number and he answered it and promised that he will bring the money back and again no show no call. He runs his business unprofessional. He took the check and deposit it the same day, but did not do the job. We do not know how to get our money back. There are a lot of carpenters out there who treat their customers with honesty and respect. I would never recommend him to anyone. He built our stairs, but never finished it. He said he will finish it when he works on arches. This guy does not honor his word. Bad business. Terrible businessman.Desired Settlement: I do not want to be fooled by this guy anymore and I want him to return 1000$ deposit that we gave him for the arches and give us a credit for the unfinished job on stairs.

Review: a/k/a "[redacted]." (same address and phone number).

After last night being probably the tenth "no show", I am forced to file a complaint against [redacted] and what I believe to be his own personal business. We hired [redacted] in January to build us a new set of interior stairs. We started off great as he came to give us an estimate the same day we called him. He was also a week early with completion. We were thrilled.

After installing the stairs, [redacted] suggested we hold off on railings and banisters because we had furniture to move into the upstairs rooms. He assured us it made more sense this way and that all we had to do was call him when we were ready and he'd come back to finish the job. We moved into our new home around Memorial Day, May. It was nearly impssible to get [redacted] back. We left him voicemail after voicemail and/or he would give us a date/time and not show up. By the grace of god he finally came back on July [redacted] of all days, ruining our plans but we didn't care, our stairs were more important. Unfortunately, he didn't not finish the job but promised to be back that following week. Once again, it's 4-5 weeks later and we are back to leaving him voicemails every few days. He has stopped answering our calls. The only time we get through to [redacted] is when we call him from someone elses phone as he doesn't recognize the number and always picks up. We did this on Tuesday and he promised to be over last night (8/*). Unfortunately, he did not come yet again. Once again [redacted] was a "no show". In addition to last night, last week he told us he'd be by at 1pm on Thursday. We had my mother at the house from 1pm - 7pm, no call, no show. [redacted] was paid in full at the time he installed our stairs. We owe him $0. It's been 8 months since we first hired [redacted] and it's been two months that we are struggling to have him finish. He has about 10 minutes worth of work left. All he has to do is finsih installing half a post and wrap a piece of molding around the bottom step. When we spoke to him on Monday he said he has it ready and has been driving around with it in his car. We beg him to come finish so we can have painters come in and finsih when they also started. [redacted] is causing a back up in our home. It's so unncessary and so unprofessional. The outcome is so disappointing after what was such a great headstart. I never dreamed he'd drop the ball the way he did.Desired Settlement: Finish the job he started and make good on what is a "paid in full job" or refund us enough money so that we can hire another professional to finish it for him. We are honest people looking for an honest outcome.

Review: On January **, 2016 I hired mr. Martin Lucas to fabricate and install wood handrails for my home. I gave Mr. Martin Lucas $1,500 deposit for a job that is $5,000 total. I have been trying to get in contact to fan out the status but he has changed his phone numbers. His shop # is- ###-###-####. His cell # is - ###-###-####. Mr. L[redacted] was the one to install my wood stairs and I had issues with him then also but decided to give him a second chance with my rails.Desired Settlement: I would like to get in touch with Mr. Martin Lucas and find out 1- why all of his numbers have changed and I haven't been contacted with new numbers. 2- is he planning on finishing the job as per our contract? 3- I would like a refund and we both go out separate ways.

Review: On 9/**/14, I contracted with Mr. Martin Lucas, of [redacted] to build a staircase into my attic. I paid him $1300.00 at that time because he said that half was due up front and the other half at completion. The job was supposed o be done if he could be ready, on 10/**/14. The day came and no word from [redacted]. The next date we set up for the work was 11/*/14. [redacted] neither call to confirm so I tried repeatedly to contact him. He then called, and said that he could not come that weekend because his vechicle was impounded. We set up another date, 11/*/14. He should have arrived at 9am. He was a no show. When I called him, he answered and said he had been asleep. I told him that I had taken the day off as he was coming. He said he needed to do some more measurements. He came to my house and took more measurements. He said he would be back later with the base part of the stairs. He did not return. Hence, I called again. He made excuses, as usual. I said he cou

D have called to say he was not coming. He said he would come the next day and that I should call him when I got home. I called, left a message on his cell phone as he did not answer. He did not returned my call. I have been calling him since to tell him, I want my money back. He does not answer.Desired Settlement: He is a thief and I would like my money back in cash. He has had my money interest free for over 1 month. He is not to be trusted.
