On 12/21/2015, I had truck problems and had my Dodge towed to Martin Swanty for repairsThe service writer assured me that their diesel guru would get me back on the road, as the mechanic had been working on diesels since the 1980's
When I broke down, I called my brother James, who is an excellent diesel mechanic and used to work for the largest Dodge dealer in the USJames has since then opened his own business and is very successful, trusted, and has a loyal customer base

I was on my way home to Idaho for Christmas, after being laid off from a job in South CarolinaThe employees at Martin Swanty were aware of these factsI wanted my truck fixed, and I wanted to get homeThey performed unsolicited work on my truck to get money from ChryslerThey did not fix my truck
As the mechanic was leaving, he told me that there was still some air in my coolant system, and that down the road, I would need to top it off againThe temperature gauge spiked briefly when I got on the freewayIt dropped back down to normalI tried calling Martin Swanty, but they were closedI thought it may have been caused by an air pocket and continued on cautiouslyI made it a ways before it became evident that they had not fixed the problem
I have called Martin Swanty several times since they worked on my truckI have asked that they refund the money that they charged for labor and diagnosisI was told that the radiator cap was bad and that they replaced it, and they felt that they were fairThey could refund me all the money and still come out ahead because of the recall/warranty work they performed without my permission
I would never recommend Martin Swanty to anyoneTheir "diesel guru" (as he was called) John Martell, does not measure upThe service advisor Tim Nichols, talked like a sailor, dropping the "F" word more than a handful of times in my presence, and was unprofessional
Martin Swanty gives mechanics and shops a bad nameThey took advantage of me, a traveler that they never expected to see again

This is my review of warning to future car buyers looking to purchase from Martin Swanty Chrysler, *** **We had a repair needed due to a noise and an engine code for Crankshaft/camshaft alignementOur *** ** *** was towed to Martin Swanty'sTheir diagnosis after listening to the engine and running a compression check was we needed a new engineThey suggested we not put the time nor money into such an old vehicle with high milesThey could refer us to a sales rep alsoWe had our *** towed to *** *** and all it needed was a new timing beltDo not buy from them and do not let them work on you car or truck!

We do over 10,repairs a year with certified techs, state of the art equipment and up to date workshop manuals both book and online. All tests have you go step by step to find the failed part. Once you get to a part that fails a test you have to replace it before you can go any further. During these steps we get permission from the customer to replace and retest the vehicle and explain to them the steps. After we test and replace a bad part and retest a vehicle and it passes we return the truck to the customer and if it is not fixed we get authorization from the customer to go to the next step in the workshop manual. In Mr*** scenario the vehicle passed the test and was returned to him. After a couple of weeks he has another issue with his truck so we go right back through the diagnostic steps and find different concerns. At this time we get the customers authorization to move forward. We replaced and retested the vehicle and it passed and was returned to customer. We nor any other shop work through a workshop manual backwards. The purpose of a manual is to start with the easiest and cheapest parts first. If we were to replace the parts at the final step and work backwards we would not be in business. In this scenario if we replaced the injectors first he would still had the original problem before and it would not have left our shop without having to replace the other items. That is the purpose of the workshop manual and diagnostic tests. This would be like a doctor performing a heart transplant and not repairing the arteries or whatever caused the heart to fail then the new heart would not work as well

I have no information on this customer or his phone number. Is there another name it could be under?Tell us why here

12-13-16 customer came in for a no start in cold morning.  We contacted Chrysler corp and opened a service ticket on it.  Was assisted from them to remove and clean intake air heater and both air heater relays, reprogram the pcm.  Test after repair and working as designed. ...

12-21-16 customer came in for check engine light being on and hard starting when cold.  Follow pinpoint tests found error and code from pcm and fuel pressure sensor. First step is to replace both and retest.  Replaced both and retested ok at this time but made notes on repair order and let customer know made need possible fuel pump in the future.  1-02-17 customer came in with vehicle hesitation and lack of power.  Test and found fuel pressure too low 1000 psi.  Found fuel pump bad replace and retest ok.Estimates were given and explained to customer on each and every visit about the steps of repair.  On a 14 year old 139,000 mile vehicle concerns of this nature are common and have to be addressed accordingly.  Customer then took to another shop afterwards with another concern and I believe he had injectors replaced.  My service manager talked to the other shop owner and said we had done nothing wrong after explaining prior repairs.  Unfortunately do to age and mileage of this vehicle it still may need future repairs.thanks, [redacted]

I have Talked with Customer regarding the payoff issue.  The new lender and the old lender are the same company.  The correct account number was submitted for payoff but the lender internally paid off the wrong account.  We talked to the lender and they have corrected the issue and...

This is my review of warning to future car buyers looking to purchase from Martin Swanty Chrysler, [redacted].. We had a repair needed due to a noise and an engine code for Crankshaft/camshaft alignement. Our [redacted] was towed to Martin Swanty's. Their diagnosis after listening to the engine and running a compression check was we needed a new engine. They suggested we not put the time nor money into such an old vehicle with high miles. They could refer us to a sales rep also. We had our [redacted] towed to [redacted] and all it needed was a new timing belt. Do not buy from them and do not let them work on you car or truck!

On 12/21/2015, I had truck problems and had my 2008 Dodge 3500 towed to Martin Swanty for repairs. The service writer assured me that their diesel guru would get me back on the road, as the mechanic had been working on diesels since the 1980's.

When I broke down, I called my brother James, who is an excellent diesel mechanic and used to work for the largest Dodge dealer in the US. James has since then opened his own business and is very successful, trusted, and has a loyal customer base.

James diagnosed a blown head gasket over the phone just by my description of what the truck was doing. He also talked with the people at Martin Swanty and told them what he believed the problem to be.

Martin Swanty diagnosed a defective radiator cap. They replaced the radiator cap and added coolant. I was told that there wasn't anything else wrong with the truck and that I was good to go.

I arrived at Martin Swanty at around noon and waited around till almost 6:00pm. I received my truck back at closing time, while employees were leaving. I found out after the fact, that their mechanic was performing recall warranty work that I had not approved. It was work that I would have had my brother do, and that he could be compensated for. The recall work was not detrimental to the operation of my truck.

I was on my way home to Idaho for Christmas, after being laid off from a job in South Carolina. The employees at Martin Swanty were aware of these facts. I wanted my truck fixed, and I wanted to get home. They performed unsolicited work on my truck to get money from Chrysler. They did not fix my truck.

As the mechanic was leaving, he told me that there was still some air in my coolant system, and that down the road, I would need to top it off again. The temperature gauge spiked briefly when I got on the freeway. It dropped back down to normal. I tried calling Martin Swanty, but they were closed. I thought it may have been caused by an air pocket and continued on cautiously. I made it a ways before it became evident that they had not fixed the problem.

I have called Martin Swanty several times since they worked on my truck. I have asked that they refund the money that they charged for labor and diagnosis. I was told that the radiator cap was bad and that they replaced it, and they felt that they were fair. They could refund me all the money and still come out ahead because of the recall/warranty work they performed without my permission.

I would never recommend Martin Swanty to anyone. Their "diesel guru" (as he was called) John Martell, does not measure up. The service advisor Tim Nichols, talked like a sailor, dropping the "F" word more than a handful of times in my presence, and was unprofessional.

Martin Swanty gives mechanics and shops a bad name. They took advantage of me, a traveler that they never expected to see again.
