Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2016/10/05) */
This is not a complaint you can resolve as it has to do with the State of Missouri Dental Practice Act. The Standards of Care were exceeded. [redacted] had normal discomfort from root canal therapy that was done on two teeth that had...

abcesses for over a year. Instead of coming back to me for a follow-up, she decided to go to another less experienced dentist in our community. At least he did do the right thing and refer her to an endodontist. Which is exactly what I would have done if she had ask my advice. In fact the same endodontist that I refer patient's to is where the other dentist referred her. He is the best in our community. It was not required by her insurance company, nor would it have been required by the Dental Board to refund her insurance company the funds they paid my practice for the services I rendered, the facts are that the exact funds paid to my practice for the services rendered were in fact refunded to her insurance company months ago. This was only to facilitate or ease her financial burden. The Endodontist that treated her told me that I could be paid for the treatment and he could be paid by the insurance company for the same treatment. It would be considered by her insurance company being within the standard of care. Every cent she paid my practice, was reimbursed to her by my practice. Basically, she came in to my office, received appropriate care and did not pay my practice nor did her insurance company pay for any services. She has been dismissed from my practice. She does not have a balance due at my practice. If she has a balance somewhere else, that is her business. I suspect she has a balance at the endodontist. His fees are higher. I was in network with her insurance and my fees are 30-40% lower. And possibly she ran out of benefits, leaving a higher copay. She neglected her mouth. She was impatient with her body's ability to heal. She has caused herself much upset. She needs to accept responsibility for her contributions to her situation. She came to my office in pain. I met the standard of care for her dental treatment. She basically was not charged for those services rendered. I went out of my way to help her. I went above and beyond the call of duty. I do not owe her anything more than what I have done for her already.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2016/10/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The dentist I'm seeing now did not refer me to dr [redacted] I went to Mrs [redacted] office in pain and called several times. A couple times I was told she was out of the country and then when I did go in 8 told her I have been having severe sinus issues since. She did several extras told me it was normal. I had already had the appointment with Dr [redacted] due to her referring me stating she couldn't fix it and would call his office to redo root canal. I went to another dentist cause I was on pain and I had several weeks till I was seeing [redacted] If the root canals would have been done right I wouldn't have had several months of surgeries and still having issues. When I called I was informed they wouldn't reimburse me but after I seen [redacted] and he told me yes that's due to root canal she spoke to him and reimbursed my insurance. All of them said that if they make a mistake they fix it. She did t and I had to even have my mother call up there and contact lawyers before she did.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2016/10/11) */
I have already complied with the Complaint request prior to her complaint with you. The money [redacted] paid my practice for my services was refunded to the insurance company months ago. The money she paid my practice for her copay, which was required by her insurance company to pay benefits, was also refunded to her by my practice. None of this was required by anyone other than her. I have already honored her request. Several other dentist have done treatment on her after myself.. There is no way to know which treatments are causing her discomfort now, as many other dentist have worked on her. She does not have a balance at my practice. She had cavities present in her teeth for over five years. The teeth had infections for at least a year or more. I have already honored her request. This can not be resolved by the Revdex.com.
