When I signed on I was told my ills would be less that they were with [redacted] I am distressed that this month they are double what I have been payingThis has not been solved amicably

This company is a complete scamThe door-to-door salespeople utilize deceptive selling techniques and lie about benefits of enrollment (rates, giftcard, lowered bill)My bill doubled and I was charged for MDG&E services on my bill even after cancellingThe early termination fee is outrageous; the company did not adhere to promises by the contract/salesperson This company swindles people and lies about their services

In November 2015, a salesman called at our house and asked to see our electric and gas billsHe said that we were paying too much and implied that he was with a commission formed to reduce consumers' billsHe did not immediately identify himself as an employee of Maryland Gas and Electric, nor did he state that the purpose of his visit was to get us to switch our service to his companyUsing high-pressure sales techniques, he convinced my wife to sign a contractAfter researching the company, we decided to cancel the contractAlthough we mailed the cancellation notice on November, within the three business days specified, they claimed that they did not receive the cancellation notice until December, and charged us a cancellation fee of $per service, for a total of $After many calls back and forth they finally dropped the chargesEven though they did the right thing in the end, I consider their sales and billing operations to be deceptiveIf anyone from Maryland Gas and Electric comes knocking at your door, I urge you to tell them to leave immediately

Door to door salesman just let without a sale! The conversation starts with a polite introduction of names and as being with "the" gas and electric companyFlag one, in our town gas and electric are separate entitiesNext is a request/need to see my current gas and electric bills to verify my eligibility for enrollment into "our" savings planI state very clearly my confusion since if they are associate with "the" gas and electric company they already have access to my billsThis is where they stumble through the "we are the wholesale providers of gas and electricity" from which your current company purchases their supplyWe can lower your cost as a wholesaler selling directly to you the consumerThe entire pitch is misleading and requires close attention to what is being statedI cannot and will not say that MDG&E would increase or decrease my gas and electric billI can say they sales pitch is misleading as they do not openly state they are a sales rep for MDG&E prior to asking for a copy of my bill to verify eligibility in the cost savings plan

The MDG&E solicitor said that our current providers rates were going up dramatically this winter, but MDG&E would lock in a lower rate for one year We were prompted to just answer "yes" to some automated questions and we would get paperwork to confirm our choice After our electric bills were significantly higher than what we had been paying, and our previous electric supplier's rate never increased, we discovered that Maryland Gas and Electric is based out of Florida, not MarylandAfter months with MDG&E we knew we needed to switch back to our original provider When we authorized the switch, MDG&E claimed that we had a year agreement, not a one year, and would have to pay a termination fee of $200! Then, I was offered a new month contract at a lower rate with a $10/month early termination fee, as long as I said yes to every question through another automated systemIt sounded like it could be a compromise to their claims, even though I had only months left to the one year agreement (made under pretenses,) but it was time consuming and I did not trust their tactics The early-termination fee is unresolved at this timeStay far away from this company

Terrible customer service, watch out for their high fees as well Just another goon out for your money

These scammers said our bill would be lowered if we signed up with them. [redacted], here in Southern [redacted], was charging us $.07 a kilowatt hour.
When we got the bill from MDG&E, we were being charged $.28 a kilowatt hour... FOUR TIMES the cost directly from [redacted].
It's a scam. DON'T sign up wit them.
I hope the FBI looks into this. They're located in Miami, Florida and that constitutes interstate fraud.
Anybody else had this "experience?

Nice sales associate comes to my door and asks to see my bill to show how he is offering a lower rate than what I was getting. Instead of being charged less than Pepco's 7 - 9 cents/kWh, I find out a year later that I've been being charged 9.6 cents/kWh, which is slightly higher than the highest peak rate in that time period, and a full $0.005/kWh more than the current peak rate. Today, a new person came to try to sell it to me again. Total rip-off.

After the salesman came and explained everything to me, I signed up. I knew I'd be selling my house later this year, but he said when I moved I could still "take it with me". I sold my house in 10 days and have not yet moved (have a contract on a house with a June settlement date). I called MDG&E and explained the problem. The guy, Chris, said to submit the settlement notice or something to prove my house was sold. I did this, with a request to waive my termination fee as I would be using them at a later date. I followed up a phone call from Chris (4/8/16) that night and left him a message and to call me back. Never received a call. Yesterday, 5-2-16, I arrived at the house I'm staying and had an invoice from MDG&E stating I owed $230 early termination fee. The Billing date was 4/11/16, Payment Due 5/1/16. I called and got Chris again. He said the request to waive was not processed and if I'd like, he would call Billing and ask that they DO NOT forward my invoice to a Collection Agency!! WTH I told him I had moved, just received the invoice and was planning on using them at the new house. He said I would still have to pay the term fee. Then when I was settled, call them and they'd start it up again!! Again, WTH! I have to pay and then start up with no credit for what I paid? Maybe if they'd offer me a $230 credit, I would used them at new house. I said why didn't they email me the invoice since they have email? His reply: we don't do that. I said I was buying a new house, didn't need them to ruin that with the Collection Agency and to transfer me to Billing. He obviously didn't know how to answer anything "off script". I swear I received something from them stating the fee was waived but I need to go to my storage facility to look. I WILL NOT USE THEM EVER. THEY KNEW I WAS MOVING, DIDN"T MAKE ANY ALLOWANCES FOR MAIL FORWARDING....To think the bill arrived ONE DAY after the due date and they're already saying it's going to a Collection Agency? BS Even a credit card isn't that quick.
