Maryland Perinatal Associates

Review: I was at Maryland Perinatal Associates for my first trimester screening on Feb 8, 2013. They fully accept my insurance and I paid my co-pay. In April, I received a bill from [redacted] stating that Maryland Perinatal Associates had sent my lab work to them and I then owed $160.00. [redacted] is NOT in my network so my insurance company denied the payment. At no time was I ever told that they would be sending my lab work to an out of network laboratory. They made the choice themselves to send my lab work to this company when they had the choice to send my lab work to my in network laboratory. I never signed anything or was made aware that they were sending this out of network and I would be responsible for payment. I have called Maryland Perinatal Associates and they will not do anything about this. They continually tell me that the bill is my responsibility and to call [redacted] to see if they will reduce my bill.I should not be held financially responsible for their error. I was never made aware that they were sending my lab work out of network, especially when they had the choice between sending to an in network or out of network lab.Desired Settlement: I want Maryland Perinatal Associates to be held responsible for their mistake. I never authorized sending lab work to an out of network provider and never agreed to pay any out of network costs. MD Perinatal Associates should be financially responsible for my bill from [redacted].
