M.A.S. Lawn & Driveway

I hired MAS in Sept 2010 to fix a leak in my foundation, install a drain in my driveway, and remove, level and repave the portion of the driveway with the drain. In March 2011 water began leaking into the basement where MAS had performed the foundation repair. MAS responded quickly to the issue and did an injection treatment from the inside of the foundation to stop the leaking. The water continued to leak in for a few days after the injection was performed. It was agreed that the injection was a temporary solution and MAS would need also repair the exterior foundation to ensure there was no further breech. Due to the saturated ground from the melting snow and spring showers, it was agreed the work would be complete in mid to late spring when the weather was better.

MAS contracted [redacted], MA to perform the work on the driveway, By Spring of 2011 the drain began to break and collapsing on the inside and the cover broke. The asphalt around the drain had sunk. Many areas of the new asphalt had begun to sink creating an uneven surface and dips where water now sits. The drain is in such bad shape it has become a safety issue.


At a follow up meeting in April 2011 MAS agreed to fix all faulty work on the foundation, the drain and the driveway. As the original wrap MAS installed around the sewer pipe failed, MAS recommended and agreed to install a geocell bladder around the sewer pipe and on the exterior foundation wall. It was also agreed that MAS would fix the broken drain and replace the broken plastic grate with a steel grate. The driveway was to be excavated, properly compacted and repaved.


It has now been six months and MAS has made every excuse to put correcting their faulty work off. MAS informed me on Monday Sept 26 that he would not excavate the foundation until "he" was satisfied that the foundation would actually leak again. He recommends flooding the area with water as the test. As the water came from the exterior and I paid for the foundation to be fixed from the exterior, I am not satisfied with this response. The only way to properly fix the foundation and ensure the repair is complete is to excavate and make the repair from the outside.


As the customer I am the one that needs to be satisfied and MAS has not done that. A letter was sent to MAS on Sept 14 giving MAS a deadline of Oct 1 to fix the faulty work. The post office left delivery notice on Sept 16 but as of today MAS has not picked up the letter at the post office. Given that, I emailed a copy of the letter to them today.
