On July 23, 2015, Mascoutah Heating and Cooling installed a new heat pump with a dry ship runit at the stated house in Belleville, IL due to someone had stolen the heat pumpThe house was vacant and they had a property management company taking care of the property On May 31, 2016, we received a call from the new homeowner stating the compressor went outHe had a service company come out and they told him to call us since we put it in.***, business owner, went on the service call the next day, June 1, 2016, and found the compressor badThe homeowner stated it failed due to undersized breakerTold the homeowner he could get a compressor under warranty but there was no labor warranty or coverage for other materialsThey said their home warranty people were cheaper so they’re going with themThat was the end of the story for then.In the meantime [redacted] talked to the manufacturer’s representative and a certified electrician with years’ experience and both stated an under sized breaker would not cause the compressor to go badBoth are willing to provide written reports if needed. On June 7th after the second call [redacted] received from the homeowner telling [redacted] he needed to do something, [redacted] once again explained to him he could get a compressor under warranty, but there wasn’t a labor warrantyAlso, there is no way an undersized breaker would cause compressor to go bad, in fact it would protect the compressor and cause it to trip sooner if there was a problemIn addition, the house was totally vacant last year when the unit was installed and got somewhat remodeled so who’s to say someone didn’t change breakers after the unit was installed?Moral of story is an undersized breaker wasn’t reason for compressor failure and his home warranty company should cover it [redacted] offered to repair it but there is a charge for labor and materials. Please call if you need further information.Sincerely,Mascoutah Heating and Cooling
