Review: On February 7, 2014, I entered into a contract with Mark M[redacted], owner of Masiker Hardwoods, to have our property logged. One year later he had not done this. On February 7, 2015, he came to our residence and requested an extension because he had been hurt in the woods. We gave him a 6 month extension and also added to the contract that he was to "Drag tree tops out for land owner". The contract also states he would "repair damage to private roads" on our property. Shortly thereafter he began to log our property. Near the middle of May, we came home and all his logging equipment was gone. No roads were repaired, leaving deep ruts and gullies. No tree tops were dragged out for our use as firewood, and an entire load of logs which at that time were valued near $900 were left to rot. Despite repeated phone calls, Mr. M[redacted] refused to answer. I visited him at his residence, and he vowed he was going to come back and fix the roads and drag down the tree tops. Since then he refuses to reply to any messages or answer our calls. At this point, we have a verbal estimate of $3000 to have a bulldozer brought in and the roads repaired and tree tops hauled out. We would like Mr. M[redacted] to honor his contract or pay us the $3000 so we can get our farm roads fixed. They are in dangerous condition for our tractors, or our grandchildren's horses and 4-wheelers. We contacted a lawyer who sent Mr. M[redacted] a letter. He called her back, mumbling something about "that is not normally done", and told our lawyer he would contact us, which he never did. At this time we are left with damaged roads and no firewood dragged out and a logger who refuses to honor his contract.Desired Settlement: Mr. M[redacted] needs to bring a bulldozer in and repair our farm roads, also drag out the tree tops for our use as firewood. Or if he prefers he can pay us the $3000 and we will hire someone else to finish his job.
