sign contract after hurricane Michael for roof repair/ home repair, roof completed, started on siding completed wrong did not finish. no response.
signed a contract in march or April 2019 hurricane Michael, never received a copy. they ask for my check that my insurance company sent for my damages which was alittle over 7000. they needed that to start my roof they said. Yes I sent it. my damages was needed roof and minor home repairs. guarantee to get my insurance to pay for damages roof, siding replace, shed, fence, garage door and sheetrock repair. roof repaired July or august not sure 2019. Found out from my insurance company was in litigation and the insurance company could not discuss anything with me. That was in October. still have not heard a word from Mason they have Never once called me. The Roof I called about several times, then finally they sent supplies and started. I Called my insurance company in February asking if the case was resolved, they said yes, it was settle in December 2019. Still February 2020 no call or mail form Mason, if I did not call them I would still be waiting. They lady Melissa or Angela, thought my case was closed. My insurance company paid them over $38000 plus my $7000. The roof is on and low grade half done siding they did not finish. have not compensated me for anything they sued my insurance for. Mason Dixon contracting is scamming insurance companies and home owners. I ask for a scope they sent me the scope I gave Jasper he was the 1st guy who came to my home and I signed my contract with. Before my roof was put on he was not longer with the company 2 months later. I do have the final judgement from my insurance and still waiting on Mason Dixon t send the ladies in the office said its private and they can't send to me. Just like I said scamming insurance and homeowners. The guy working on my home Dan his crew his brother and 2 other guys started on my home in the first of march 2020 still waiting I have full videos, pictures and history of text messages. I told them to stop when they was nailing pieces to my house that you see full nails showing which was incorrect put 4inch siding the least expensive they could find on my house, I had 5inches, the guy cut the siding against one of the room windows that now need to be replaced. Every time I call Mason I do not get a call back if I speak to one of the ladies or the phone just rings like they are watching the caller ID.

Desired Outcome

I would like for them to issue me a check for my damages, minus the roof, that is the only thing that is completed. They have did a poor job and I am not satisfied!

Destruction of property during replacing the roof.
Mason Dixon was hired to repair/replace my roof. The project took over 3 months to complete was unsatisfactory results. The workers during construction caused damage to my home. They promised to pay for the damages but refuse to. I have made numerous phone calls, text messages and e-mails to no avail. Their construction methods were unprofessional.

Desired Outcome

Money for repair

When will the money be issue and for how much. Additional we have hired an architectural roofing firm here in Orlando, they have found numerous code violations the report will be issued to us next week. We will submit a copy of the report to both Mason Dixon and to Orange County.

In June I send $7000.00 to start the repair on my home until this date nothing done.
They always have an excuse. Now, I tried to call no answer..
In April 2019 the gave me an estimate.for the repair of my home. I sent $7000.00 check in June 2019 for their to start the repair of the home. In August they told me that the person that was in charge is not longer with them and that the price of the repairs went up and that they start a litigation with my insurance for the payment. Everytime I called they have an excuse. I can't talk with a person that can give me an answer. The receptionist always tell me that they are going to call me, and nobody contact me. Today they told me the were on State Emergency. Then they transferred me to a claim department recorder, and I was not able to get all the information, I called back, the receptionist did not answer the phone.

Desired Outcome

I want for them to refund my $7000.00 and forget about the repair of my house. Thank you!

Mason Dixon Contracting has failed to complete repairs to my home as contractually obligated. They have been paid in full.

The insurance scWE have issued a check in the amount of $817.70. It cleared our bank on 01/07/2020. Mr. had vinyl siding and we installed hardie board. We had no choice but to replace vinyl siding with hardie board due to Florida standard building code. Hardie Board is more expensive then using vinyl siding. Unfortunately, you also have the cost of labor to install and paint hardie board siding. The insurance scope did not have replacement cost for Hardie Board siding. I have pictures of Mr. home after it was painted and it looks beautiful. I'm attaching photos of Mr. home before and after.

Worst roofing company in the world. I've been waiting a year and a half on my roof and they have me locked in with an assignment of benefits. They haven't done anything at all communication sucks everything about them sucks. Never use this company!

9-1-2019: Mason Dixon will promise you the world, but after you sign with them, they pretty much ignore you and your pleas for help. After 8 months they finally put a roof on my house, but during all that time they pretty much refused my many, many calls and e-mails. They are now ignoring all my requests for updates on all the other many repairs they promised to do because of the damage from Hurricane Michael almost a year ago. They are liars and treat their clients like dirt. If you value anything, never, never use them.

roof damaged in storm not sealed by company, vermin entered, did damage. roof not inspected, work not completed properly, wont talk to us to sort out.
A hurricane damaged the roof of our house at ***, Davenport, Florida 33897 in or around November 2017 . Mason Dixon contracted to replace the roof, but they instructed us they could not carry out the works immediately, as they had a large volume of roofs to replace. They assured us however that they would make the roof secure pending the replacement, having established that there were number of holes in it. this was important as they were informed that this is a non rented holiday home and is not continuously occupied. they assured us that they would take care of matters but they did not. They did not make the roof secure and rats entered the home and caused extensive damage.
The standard of work carried out on the roof was poor and this necessitated us having them return to the property on a number of occasions. We were told the roof was inspected but we have since learned that it has never received its inspection. we have tried on numerous occasion to contact Mason Dixon by telephone email and we even met a representative in person, who has subsequently left the company, but all our efforts to have the matter resolved have failed. on the last occasion the lady in Mason Dixon hung up on us when we tried to sort matters out.

We have the final monies due to Mason Dixon on account but they are refusing to engage with us to finalize the matter. The issue as regards the damage and the inspection are still live and need to be dealt with. We have now established that they have registered a lien against our property.

Desired Outcome

deal with the matter and resolve the issues as outlined above

We have attempted to cancel our contract with Mason Dixon based on their business practices and lack of insurance approval since October 8, 2018.
We signed a contract on June 13, 2018 with Mason Dixon for a complete re-roof due to damage from Hurricane Irma. Before and after signing the contract we asked for a written estimate multiple times and it was not provided. We were advised that our roof would be tarped and it was tarped in the wrong spot. We asked for them to come out and fix the tarp and it was never done. The company worked directly with our insurance company and was not successful in getting the full claim approved that they submitted $(27,256). They sent a 10 day demand letter to the insurance prior to submitting an estimate, photos or any documentation. The entire process was very unprofessional. Mason Dixon's notary signed and notarized documents that were not signed in front of her. I did not sign the documents in front of the notary and they were notarized days later (falsified documents). Once we received the partial claim approval we were advised by Mason Dixon that the amount would not be enough for all of the repairs ($20,000) for a re-roof of a 1600 square foot home. Our point of contact was unresponsive and we were unable to get any answers for over a month after many calls, emails and texts. Mason *** was not responding or moving forward with our re-roof.
On October 8, 2018 we requested to cancel our contract with Mason Dixon. We spoke with Rorie *** and sent the cancellation request via email in writing. We then sent a 2nd and 3rd request in writing to cancel the contract. At this point there had been no expenses incurred by Mason ***, no materials ordered, no work started or completed at our home. We were advised on October 11, 2018 via email that we were not able to cancel our contract (false information). We spoke with our insurance company (***) and advised them to cancel the check (not the full amount of the claim) and that we were cancelling our contract with Mason Dixon.
A week later on October 15, 2018 Mason Dixon starting harassing us by sending a dumpster to our home blocking our garage and driveway and sending roofing material to our home on two different days without our knowledge. Both of these services and items were not left at the property and were sent back with the delivery drivers. This was a week AFTER we requested the cancellation. We also then received a document on our window signed and notarized by Andrew *** on October 12, 2018 (AFTER our cancellation) stating that he had inspected all the material and that a re-roof had been completed (filed with the Orange County). There had been no re-roof or any work done on our property or any parties from Mason Dixon at our home to inspect the roof (false information).
With no response from Maxon Dixon or a signed contract cancellation we hired Attorney Greg ***. The attorney attempted on many occasions to communicate with Mason Dixon's attorney *** Kaminsky. After many attempts Mr. Kaminsky provided an unreasonable amount for settlement to cancel the contract. We would later find out that none of this information was every presented to Kim or Andrew *** (owners) and that they were not even aware of a dispute or cancellation request.
On April 15, 2019 we went personally to the office of Mason Dixon in Umatilla and spoke with Kim & Andrew *** (owners). We discussed everything that happened and brought the cancellation and contractors affidavit to be signed. They were not aware of anything that had transpired since last year. We were advised by Kim *** that they would be signing the cancellation agreement and affidavit and we would hear from her the next day. I have left several messages and have not received any response or the signed cancellation and contractor affidavit. At this point we still have a roof that is leaking and has not been repaired since Hurricane Irma. The insurance claim has been cancelled and we need to receive the signed cancellation agreement and contractors affidavit from Mason Dixon. No work has been started or completed.

Desired Outcome

We are requesting that Mason Dixon cancel our contract and Assignment of Benefits. We are also requesting a Contractors Affidavit be signed and notarized stating that no work has been completed and no funds are due to Mason Dixon. We have submitted these documents to Mason Dixon and have attached to this complaint. We do not want to continue to communicate or work wtih a company that has fraudulent business practices and is not reputable. We do not have confidence that they are able to re-roof our home. *** Insurance has also been attempting for over 4 months to get in contact with Mason Dixon regarding our cancellation request. We feel we have been given false information from Mason Dixon throughout the entire process and have been taken advantage of in a difficult situation with Hurricane damage. We have documentation in writing of every interaction supporting our issues and complaints with Mason Dixon.

The contract in reference has a no cancelation policy due to it being an insurance claim at this time we will honor a cancelation with a 20% cancelation fee once that is paid we will sign documents, I apologize for the delay I had to wait on clarification from corporate and insurance carrier which I have notified of the decision they have cancelled the original payment and will disburse the payments correctly.

Customer Response • Apr 26, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Please advise 20% of what figure you are requesting for cancellation? There has been no work done on the property and no fully approved insurance claim.
The insurance carrier was notified in October 2018 of the cancellation and has been trying to get in touch with Mason *** for 4 months with no response (per *** Insurance). The original payment cancellation was requested at that time (full claim not approved).
Please clarify what payments are to be dispersed correctly? Again, the insurance claim cancellation was requested in October 2018 to *** Insurance. The ***rmation you are providing stating that Mason *** advised *** insurance is not accurate.
Mason *** has not been to our property to start any re-roof work. There should be no funds to due Mason *** due to no work and no fully approved insurance claim.
Also, please advise regarding the ordering of materials to be delivered and documents signed AFTER our request for cancellation as well as documents falsely notarized. I do not see that ***rmation in the response.

Customer Response • Jul 10, 2019

Document Attached***
Revdex.com- Please re-open the case.

In response to the last message received from Mason *** the company did not perform any work on the property. They attempted to send materials to our home and harass us AFTER we submitted a cancellation request in writing multiple times. We requested to cancel due to lack of communication (we tried contacting them for weeks with no response), no fully approved insurance claim (they stated more money was required for the roof) and falsified notary documents.

The contract states the homeowner is not obligated unless the repairs are approved by the homeowners insurance. The claim was NOT fully approved by the homeowners insurance.

We are willing to pay a $1000 cancellation fee to resolve this matter. This fee will more than cover the exactimate estimate and permits.

Attached is the cancellation documents to be signed.

This case is in litigation, I don't know why this hasn't been mentioned but there is a active on going lawsuit regarding this complaint, this complaint is not even allowed per Revdex.com guidelines due to the active litigation???? How do you wish to proceed at this point I can have one of our attorneys from *** and *** reach out to you on this matter as they handle all of our cases regarding insurance and have notified me that the current Revdex.com involvement with the complaints in litigation is well outside of the Revdex.com guidelines.

Thieving roofers steal my entire insurance claim and refuse to refund me for the work they didn't do.
Mason Dixon contracting are the roofers I unfortunately chose to fix my roof after hurricane Irma. They were able to badger me into signing an AOB and promising me a contract for the roof work. I signed the AOB, gave them money for my deposit and waited for the roofing contract. Fast forward to early 2019 and I find out from my home owners insurance company, UNIVERSAL PROPERTY AND CASUALTY, that Mason Dixon told them they had power of attorney over me and to send the ENTIRE INSURANCE CLAIM CHECK TO THEM. Which is completely FALSE! MASON DIXON has NEVER HAD ANY LEGAL AUTHORITY OVER ME TO BE MY POWER OF ATTORNEY. They have committed fraud by depositing my insurance check for $29,500. Roofs don't cost thirty grand. They refuse to take my phone calls. They don't return messages I leave with them. The only work MASON DIXON performed for me was roof work, because when I first called Mason Dixon, JOSEPH CARR, our assigned sales guy at the time said they weren't a one stop shop and that they could do only my roof, and only my roof. So I would have to have someone else do the gutters, soffits, fascia, and etc. Fine, no problem. I did exactly that. I found other people to do the work they were not able to do. But now I am unable to finish fixing the damages on my home because Mason Dixon STOLE AND ILLEGALLY DEPOSITED a check for $29,500 from my insurance company. I want my money back that is rightfully mine.

Desired Outcome

I want a refund of all the money the took from me. I also want a fair estimate on their 'roof replacement'. Charging me $75 a sheet for plywood if highway robbery. That is price gouging. I want a roof replacement that isn't padded for them to defraud and rape my insurance company. This is why premiums are so high! If I knew this company was going to pad my claim to my home owners insurance company, I never would have gone with them. When I was up for renewal this year, I was dropped because of the roof claim. I feel if another roof company had submitted a claim that wasn't $30,000 I wouldn't have been dropped from my insurance company. Insurance fraud hurts everyone.

We currently are waiting for a response from Ms *** for a time to meet her to complete the minor detail's I spoke to her personally this week and asked her to call me back and let me know a date and time so we can have the Sheriffs office escort us to do our final cleanup since she wont let us on the property, she has reported her allegations to the Seminole County Sherriff we were investigated and the case was closed finding we did nothing wrong Mr Murray with the Sheriffs office states that there was no wrong doing on Mason Dixon Contracting part and we have grounds for moving forward with a civil suite on the grounds of slander.

It's been almost 1 year and they haven't let me know if my insurance will pay for my roof.
I was told by Mason Roofing that they would try to get my insurance, *** at the time to pay for a new roof after the storm. I gave them 1000.00 down payment, probably to make sure we were going to use their services. It's been almost 1 year and the only thing they did was to patch the roof because after 6 months water was coming in the house.I have called them a lot , different numbers their employees gave me during the process , most of them don't work there anymore. So I am stuck and nobody returns my calls The roof needs to be changed now , my ceiling is ruined. I am 94 years old and never been through anything like that . Hoping you can help.

Desired Outcome

Put a new roof and ceiling repaired , through i insurance or i will get another roofing company to do it . April 26 2018 is when we started the whole thing. Hoping this can help .

Product_Or_Service: leak repair in roof

Desired Outcome

Repair I had the same leak fixed the first time in August 2018 and it was paid for. MasonDixon gave me a guarantee on their work for a year. I want the leak repaired because of the guarantee I have on it--I would also like my ceilings repaired because of the damage the rain has done since I've been trying to have the leak fixed for over a month now.

Mason Dixon Contracting Response • Feb 19, 2019

Mrs. roof was done over 10 years ago by us and is no longer under warranty. We did a repair for Mrs. in June of 2018. She contacted us in January regarding a roof leak in the same spot that we repaired. We put her on our repair schedule after further observation, the repair technician found that the leak was coming from a different area than the one we had repaired in June of 2018. Monty advised Mrs. of this and let her know that this would not be covered by warranty. Monty wrote up a proposal and sent it to Mrs.. Monty also emailed Mrs. and let her know that he was sorry for the misunderstanding of the new leak.

Customer Response • Feb 19, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I don't know where MasonDixon or Monty got their information-I was NEVER put on any schedule-NO ONE from MasonDixon EVER came to my house to look at my roof OR where the leak was-NO ONE from MasonDixon said anything to me about a NEW leak or pointed one out to me, because NO ONE ever came out to look at my roof OR the leak-Monty NEVER called me to let me know anything about a new leak-because NO ONE showed up to find a NEW leak at my house-NO proposal was sent to me-because NO ONE came to my house to even make a proposal-the only thing sent to me was an e-mail of a proposal on 2/19/19. After two weeks, starting on January 4th, I was calling the office and leaving messages to even set up an appointment to get someone out here to look at the leak-Monty finally did call me on 1/16/19 (the one and only call I ever got from him). Monty told me I would receive a call on Monday 1/21 to set up something on Tues. or Wed.-I NEVER received a call to set up anything, (I'm sure I didn't receive a call back, because I told Monty the leak was in the same place, that MasonDixon did the repair in August 2018, and it was still under warranty)-I left messages, starting 2/1 mostly to the answering service and tried to call Monty on occasion-(voice mail was always full-except late on 1/22-I left a message-no call back) called the office on 1/22, 1/24, 1/28, 1/30, put in as emergency calls by answering service on 2/1, 2/4, 2/6, 2/8, 2/11, 2/15, 2/18-I NEVER received a call back from anyone at MasonDixon-now they send me a proposal a month later to charge $950.00 to fix a leak I already paid $750.00 for in August of 2018 and still have a warranty on-NOBODY even knows if the leak is in the same place or not, because NO ONE came out to look at it in the first place-it's leaking in the same place inside the house in the spare room and now in the kitchen on the same side-with the rain we have been having, my ceilings are getting pretty bad (mold in spare room)-it looks like the leak is traveling, seems to me if it is leaking in the same place, it's where the first leak was and where the patch is-I feel if someone from MasonDixon comes out now, I'm certain that they will find that the leak is a new leak and not under the warranty from August 2018-they will be positive that it's not the same leak so they can charge me again for the same leak. If they have all this misinformation now, how much misinformation will there be in the future? There is no trust in MasonDixon at this point to do the right thing, because of all the misinformation given by them and how this issue has been mishandled. If someone called me to set up an appointment, came to my house, pointed out a new leak to me, sent me a proposal-then why would I keep calling the office trying to get someone out here all this time about a leak I want fixed?

Mason Dixon Contracting Response • Mar 06, 2019

Mason Dixon Contracting has tried to help this customer to repair her roof. We proposed repairs to her roof and she was unwilling to pay. We have attempted to resolve this issue and the customer has refused and her demands were quite unreasonable.

Customer Response • Mar 07, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I really don't know where MasonDixon gets their information--As of 3/7/19 no one has even come out to look at my roof or even call me since 1/16/19. At this point anyone from MasonDixon will not be welcome at my home. That's three months after the first phone call. On 2/20/19 the owner (Andy Dixon) sent me an e-mail proposing that he would give me my initial repair cost of $750.00 back, and I would get another roofing company to do the work, as his company is SO stretched thin on labor, because of the two hurricanes--I wouldn't use them anyway and told him so--On 2/27/19 I accepted Andy Dixons' proposal and e-mailed him, also asked if I had to wait two months for the check (like I did for an answer to all my phone calls--apparently it's heading that way)--On 3/4/19--A man named Adam H G e-mailed me and said he would send me the refund ONLY if I would send him a brief letter removing MasonDixon from any liability on this issue. On 3/4/19--I e-mailed Adam back removing MasonDixon from any liability for the patch they put on my roof in August of 2018 AFTER I received my refund of $750.00--On 3/4/19--Adam e-mailed me again NOW he wants me to put a retraction of the Revdex.com complaint I filed against MasonDixon. Once they had the retraction, I would receive my refund of $750.00--I'm pretty sure they call this BLACKMAIL. Now that seems to have changed. On 3/4/19--I was home ALL day. There was NO call or ANY message left on my machine from MasonDixon.--I do NOT check my e-mail every day, so on 3/6/19--Two days after the 3/4/19 e-mail from Adam, NOW MasonDixon is in a hurry (Gee, I waited ONE 1/2 months for someone to get back to me (and it was an e-mail) to get my leak fixed, I still have my leak. They say they tried to help me? HOW did they try to help ME? The first proposal I got from MasonDixon was an e-mail to fix my roof was for $950.00 to fix a patch that was still under warranty--no one has even spoken to me since 1/16/19, when you found out it was under warranty--The ONLY attempt to resolve this issue was on 2/20/19 when the OWNER, Andy Dixon, made his proposal. I did NOT refuse his proposal--I ACCEPTED his proposal--I gave you the letter you requested to release MasonDixon from any liability for the patch, what more do they want? Blood? I don't see how they're calling me demanding and unreasonable with this request. You did all of this to yourselves by treating me the way you are. All I want to do is get my $750.00 back like Andy (THE OWNER) has proposed, so I can get my roof fixed by someone else. I DO NOT trust MasonDixon at all with the repair to my roof with all the lying they're doing. Who's REALLY being demanding and unreasonable?

They installed my new roof 1 year ago. Roof is now leaking. They have not returned any of my calls for a month to have someone look at the leak.
Mason Dixon installed my roof 1 year ago (Warranty # ***). After a rainstorm this past December, I noticed a heavy leak in the roof, coming into my master closet. There was water flowing into the attic from an air vent. There is lots of water damage on my ceiling.
I have called Mason Dixon several times to have someone come look at it and no one has called me back. I speak to the receptionist, and she keeps telling me that she is personally giving hand-written notes to the "boss" and the owner.
Here are the dates I have called:

Dec 20 (spoke to Angela)
Dec 21 (spoke to Angela)
December 27 (spoke to Bernice)
January 4 (spoke to Angela)
January 7 (spoke to someone who said no one was in the office)

The water damage from the roof is now getting worse, which is a direct result of a latent response from Mason Dixon. With a warranty on a brand new roof, there is no reason why someone shouldn't be calling me back to fix the work they did.

Information from the last invoice:

Warranty # and Job Name:
***

Rep:
RCP

Foreman:
Juan

Desired Outcome

I want a contractor to come out to my house ASAP, assess the damages caused by the leak in the roof, fix the roof, and fix the water damage on my ceiling.

Miss *** roof has been repaired see her reply dated 1/24 the only thing left to do is paint her closet and it is on schedule and in line to do so since this is closed where do you want me to reply?

They Just finished my roof in time for Thanksgiving. I want to Thank Mason Dixon for getting my roof on in time for family coming into town. The roof looks great and guys cleaned up all the nails and debris from roof.

Not an easy road to where I am at now, my insurance company said my roof can be repaired not replaced.

We had a big hail storm this past Spring and I had tree limbs all over my yard and my patio umbrella was twisted and mangled. My neighborhood looked the same. About 2 weeks after the storm I started seeing roof trucks in my neighborhood and wondered if our neighborhood had roof damage. Our neighborhood did ok throughout hurricane Irma. I called Mason Dixon to inspect my roof and was told I had hail damage on my shingles and gutters. My salesman Jasper said insurance company is required to replace your roof not fix it. Mason Dixon sent their report to insurance company and they agreed with Mason Dixon to replace roof instead of repairing roof like the adjuster who came out said it can be repaired. Great Thanks for getting me my well deserved roof.

Thank you for your feedback and glad we could provide you with the service you expected. Happy holidays

American Integrity Insurance company said I had a few shingles missing on my 16yr old roof and gave me a measly $690 to fix. I contacted Mason Dixon Roofing because I saw all my neighbors getting new roofs put on by them and wondered why they got new roofs and I did not. The company sent out Paul who inspected my roof and instructed me by county code the Insurance company is required to replace my roof. Paul said he would fight the insurance company for me and guaranteed me I would be getting a new roof like my neighbors. Well, about 45 days later I got a call and was ecstatic that I would be getting a new roof. This company fought the Insurance company and they just finished my roof, it looks great! Highly recommended if you need to fight insurance company or just need a roof.

I just read reviews and this is not how I was treated at all! They just finished my roof in Oviedo. Guys cleaned up all the nails with a magnet. Very hard working crew and they get there very early and work till dark. They finished my house in a day and a half. Inspector said they did a great job. Perfect timing for my husbands 50th birthday party. Great company and they work with the insurance company to pay for ALL my damages which insurance company did not. Highly recommended!

Mr S
thank you sir and we are glad you where happy with our services, enjoy the holidays

Mason dixon Roofing contractors lied to us multiple times, started work without all proper documentation, and filed a fraudulent insurance claim.
We decided to sell our home and move into another, prior to selling we decided to put a new roof on with the assistance of our insurance. We chose Mason dixon because they did our neighbors home. Upon signing a AOB and contract and being quoted $12000 we waited for nearly 2 weeks. We began to get concerned because we were already under contract on both this home and the one we were to purchase. After speaking with mason dixon we were told that Tavares was backed up with permits and that they would get it soon. Several days went by and I called Tavares and they informed me that Mason dixon was unable to pull permits in lake county but would not tell me why. LIE #1. I called Mason and spoke with Lee Dixon who informed me that they caught a county inspector watching pornography on a job site and turned him in which caused push back. He assured me that they were litigating and would be able to complete the job. LIE #2 this was not true at all, found out later that they have had multiple billing infractions and performed unpermited work. They managed to pull a permit by using a general contractor instead of their own company, which we did not know at the time. We had already paid them our insurance deductible which was $4600 and they were refusing to cancel the contract and refund our money so we let them work so we could get both houses closed. The roof has been finished for over a week and we were supposed to close on the 17th. We were unable to do so because the permit is not cleared and they have not settled with my insurance. After speaking with reps from my insurance I was informed that they submitted a claim for nearly $27000 less the deductible of $4600, more than double of what was quoted or reasonable for an 1800 sq foot home. They refuse to deal with the insurance company, return any of our phone calls, or close out the permit. We probably wont be able to close on our home, or the new home. We will probably get sued for breach of contract, causing us hardship and money and we will probably have to sue them to recoup any damages causing further loss of money. At this point 3 total families have been affected from their shady business practices, none of us will be able to move into our new homes. After speaking with the lake county building and tavares building, they have encouraged us to stand up to them and file some complaints. They are already under an ongoing investigation in both jurisdictions. We have been lied to numerous times, never given a straight answer, hung up on and now they dont return our calls or answer them at all. They took our money knowing our time frame and lied and told us they could get the job done on time and closed for us to sell. At the time they took our $4600 they already were aware they were unable to pull permits in the area and did so anyway. after investigating them further, and speaking with multiple officials from the tri city area, they have multiple incidents just like this. My wife and I are both first responders in Lake county and have been so for the better part of 2 decades, we are good strong people with ties to our community. We are able to withstand this blatant fraud, we have support. But others may not and I dont want others to have to go through the ordeal that we have. This will cost me tens of thousands of dollars, I will loose the escrow deposit we placed on our other home $6000, moving expenses, and possible litigation expenses. This company is despicable and will do this again. I have already notified the city of tavares and lake county, my insurance has declined to pay the total ammount but can not close out the claim, fraudulent plain and simple. We feel like this company is holding us hostage and we dont have a good way to fight them. Please help us so others dont get duped like we did.

Desired Outcome

Honestly if they would just complete the permit, accept the amount of money my insurance has offered which was $5800 plus $1350 plus my deductible, already paid of $4600 that would be exactly the amount we were originally quoted. If they did this all this week and signed the letter needed by the title company we could all move on with our lives. All 3 families could move on and no one would loose money. Ultimately I hope they change their business practices or are never allowed to do business again. But I would settle for them settling up with my insurance and closing the permit properly and signing that they have complete all work, allowing my family to move on.

As per our complaint from Mr., I was under the impression we resolved this matter, being that he paid in full, received closing docs and warranty in the office from Kim D, personally. I apologize for letting the response time lapse! If Mr. has anymore concerns or needs further assistance from Mason Dixon Contracting, Inc., please do not hesitate calling our office and I will personally see to upholding our word.

Thank you,

Shannon M

I wouldn't even give a star! They pushed for an AOB took my $4600 deposit but failed to mention the ability to file for permits had been suspended. After a month of no permit and them telling me the city was backed up I called the city...I was then informed that Mason Dixon was unable to file for permitting. They refused to refund my money and said they could file under their general contractors license. They did just that and completed my roof. I then found out my claim was being held up because the filed a $22k claim with my insurance company! Mind you I have an 1800sqft single story hip roof...fraud. They will not return my calls or answer the phone, I have gotten nothing but lies and a complete run around! Beware and never use Mason Dixon Roofing!

Contractor failed to comply with FS 489.126 when rec'd initial payment exceeding 10% of contract price and didn't start work within 90 days of permit
Contract for re-roof necessitated from Hurricane Irma damages between Andrew M D DBA M D Contracting, Inc. License #*** and *** executed on April 19, 2018. Contract price $57674.85. Initial payment tendered in the amount of $33684.00 on April 17, 2018. Permit #*** issued by Orange County Building Dept on April 23, 2018. Neither Andrew M, President nor Patrick S, Project Manager have responded to my emails asking for a tentative if not definite installation start date. My emails have been ignored. The only contact I have had with company is salesperson, John Holmes, who has referred me to Mr. S when I continually inquire when the job will begin. Meanwhile, I am living with a damaged ceiling and walls in the master bath and will not repair those damages until new roof installed. The roof continues to leak and a section of the ceiling is about to fall due to repetitive water intrusion when we have high winds and heavy rain. Due to lack of response from either Mr. D or Mr. S, I went to their pplace of business on June 20, 2018 to speak with Mr. D. I was advised he was not in . I asked to speak to Mr. S who I did meet with. When asked why he didn'trespond to my emails he said he's too busy. I explained the courtesy of a reply to keep the customer informed is the right thing to do. He apologized. After describing how the project would be done, the necessary equipment that would be required to do the job, and that he has to consider his profit margin he advised me that "the roof will be done definitely be the end of July." As of today, I have not heard from anyone at the company with a start date for the re-roof job.As of today 7/24/18 Orange County public records does not have filed nor recorded Notice of Commencement as proof of intent.

Desired Outcome

The resolution I am seeking is for Andrew M D, President of M D Contracting to personally get involved to ensure that my re-roof project is scheduled for start no later than the 5th of August. I hired this company based on their reputation and Mr. M's "commitment and promise of exceptional quality and devoted customer service." I would like to see first hand his "hospitable staff and for him to assist me with every aspect of the construction process of my roofing project"

In response to your complaint Ms., I was told by our production manager you personally spoke to him regarding your roof. He told you (weather permitting) scheduling is to be set the last week in July. The weather wasn't permitting and put our crews back a week, at least. We are currently working on production and getting your roof done. Please do not hesitate to call the office and speak with me should you have any future concerns, but as we stand now the roof is in the process of being sent to production (which means you should receive a call any day letting you know your roof is to be installed). Although I am not in production, I can provide a smooth roofing experience and communication from this point on. I apologize for the past, but will try to make this a pleasurable experience for you, as much as possible.

Customer Response • Aug 17, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I asked that Andrew M, owner/president get involved to ensure that my re-roof project was scheduled to start no later than 8/5/18. I have not heard from Mr. D but rather an accounts payable/human resources personnel named Ms. M who responded to the complaint through your Revdex.com office.

Her rendition of my meeting is not how it occurred. When I met with the production mgr. I asked two questions. 1. When will my roof get put on? 2. What are the logistics as to how MDC will access my roof, deliver and place the shingles, and position the dumpster.

At our June 20th meeting the production mgr. described the process and went on to say my roof is "not difficult" "we do these kinds of roofs all the time." So then I asked him if he could give me a date when the roof will be installed...if not definite, at least tentative. He said, "DEFINITELY by the end of July." He did not say the last week of July as Ms. M states he said. He also told me, "The good thing is that your shingles are in." He did not say the roof would be installed the "last week of July, weather permitting." The weather was not part of that statement to me. In fact, the only time the weather was mentioned was when I told him that when his uncle was at my home he said that he (uncle) constantly monitors the weather and made me think HE decided when the roof install gets scheduled. That is when the production mgr. responded back with the comment, "I look at the weather all the time." "I'm in charge and I decide when the roof gets installed." "He told me they have 90 or more employees," when I asked if they have subs. I stated that he must be aware of the schedule and the crews if they are all employees and not subs.

I can recount every word of our conversation because when I returned to my car after the meeting, I wrote down everything Mr. S said.

As a post note...it has been 9 days since Ms. M responded to the Revdex.com complaint stating that "the roof is in the process of being sent to production which means you should get a call any day letting you know your roof is to be installed." Well it is far beyond the one week their crews have been put back yet nary a phone call from the business to tell me when they are scheduling to install my roof.

And if my roof was really scheduled for the end of July, then it should have long ago been in as they call it, "production."

Mason Dixon Contracting Response • Aug 29, 2018

Ms.,
I would like to apologize for misinforming you that the roof is being sent to production and receiving a call any day now, as for "now", we cannot provide strategic and accurate methods to properly install your unique & steep roof. It takes special equipment rentals, unique materials and not to mention, the proper techs for the specifications of your roof. We need skilled techs who specialize in this roof installation. I understand time is of the essence and I want you to know M D is working diligently to properly install your roof...key word being properly! I ask that you give us a little time to access these requirements necessary for your install. I cannot give you a specific date, because of all the varying factors that can hold up a job, however I can vouch that we (as a team) strive to maintain customer satisfaction. I can discuss further details on the phone, Monday - Fridays, 9-5.

And should this not be a respectable request and you'd prefer your refund, our office manager, Kim does not mind refunding you. I'd much rather complete our end of the bargain. If you can let us buy some time, we can ensure the proper & appropriate measures will be taken to put your roof on precisely.

Customer Response • Sep 21, 2018

The complaint was closed by Revdex.com because the complaintant did not respond back in time. However I wish to note that the matter has been resolved between M D and myself after I visited their office on 9/6/18 asking for all of my money back. I was given a check to refund my initial deposit of $33,684. While I was waiting for the check, Ms. D told me that they had decided not to do my roof. I told her that was the first I was hearing of that.s far as I'm concerned this matter is closed. Those who read this entire complaint can glean their own opinions as to whether they would like to experience what I have with MDC.

The company processed a check for the roof work done twice. They wiped out my entire checking account and a portion of my savings.
I had roof work done after Hurricane Irma by Mason Dixon Contracting. I paid the remaining balance by check number 388 on March 21st in the amount of $9132.37. The check cleared my bank*** on March 21st. The exact same check was processed again on April 12th by Mason Dixon Contracting depleting my entire checking account and over drafting my savings by approximately $1200. Mason Dixon Contracting is not being helpful in returning my money.

Desired Outcome

I want the amount of $9132.37 returned to me promptly because it leaves me no money in my account to pay future bills or have money to live on.

Poorly Installed Roof, Untimely Correction of Poor Quality, and Poor Communication throughout process
I, *** as Durable POA, contracted with Mason Dixon to replace my mom's roof. My mom is 75 years old, suffers from Alzheimer's/dementia, and recently lost her husband of 57 years. I contracted the job to be completed via the insurance company but at scheduling the sales rep changed it to a cash job without proper authorization (he obtained authorization for this from my sister who has a limited POA that does not include these types of contracts). He stated the job would be completed in January 2018 but did not notify us of the specific date the work would be completed. He showed up unannounced on 1/19 and completed the work on 1/21. In an effort to make payment arrangements, the sales rep notified me the job was changed to a cash job. Although the company corrected this issue, the roof was put on poorly. I immediately notified the company of our concerns and asked they send a supervisor of the sales rep out to inspect his work and hear our concerns. It took roughly a month and many, many phone calls before the company sent someone out. At which time, the company took photographs of our concerns and we provided the company a comprehensive, written list of issues we identified with the roof. I've made many more calls to the company trying to get them to resolve this issue. The company stated, roughly 2 weeks ago, they needed to send another more qualified person to go out to assess the work. I asked them to keep me up-to date on the progress. A couple of days later I called the company back because I had not heard anything for the person to tell me someone was going out that day. I have called and left messages with the company 2 times since then with no call back. I've been trying to resolve this issue for roughly 2 months and feel I'm getting no where. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Desired Outcome

Send me a list of at least three qualified, independent inspectors and cost of inspection services so I can choose one to inspect the roof. Send the inspector out to inspect the roof and provide recommendations for correcting any issues noted with the roof. If the inspector doesn't identify any concerns that need repair, I will pay for the inspection. However, if the inspectors does identify concerns that need resolution, correct the concerns to give us the product we paid for and pay for re-inspection documenting the roof is what we paid for.

I have spoke to Ms. awhile back and tried to do whatever necessary to appease the customer. I have spoke to our salesman (whom is no longer with our company) to resolve the situation, unfortunately without much resolve. Our company has several documents of our entire roofing process. Our company has satisfied the actual contract agreement that was signed initially. We apologize for any inconvenience. Ms. family has POA proper documentation to handle her affairs which also includes processing her insurance claim. If there is a conflict with that, they should contact their insurance company regarding that.

Customer Response • May 10, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The person who responded to my complaint was very helpful in the beginning with the concerns I originally had but the issues she helped resolve are the concerns with the job being contracted as an insurance job. I explained to her the sales rep switched it to a cash job before the work was performed. She helped me get it put back as an insurance job. So Kim's response did not address any of the concerns that were brought to the companies attention after the issues she dealt with. After I spoke with Kim, I spoke with Patrick, Lee, and a few other employees who I can't remember their names to resolve my concerns. Each one escalated the issue to finally the company's owner's son. He is the one who has since stopped returning my phone calls or trying to resolve my concerns. After the work was performed my brother reviewed the work and notified me there was a fire hazard and many safety/poor workmanship concerns. Although the company has obtained many pictures of our concerns, they have yet to fix the concerns. One representative of the company agreed the issues we noted needed to be corrected but then another one said they did not. One of the more significant issues that need to be corrected is a fire hazard as the company placed the tar paper on the chimney. In addition, there are many other issues that are safety/poor workmanship concerns that need to resolved to correct the issues to my satisfaction. The company has stopped returning my calls two weeks prior to me submitting this complaint and even with this complaint has not tried to contact me to resolve the concerns. At this point, I do not trust the company to resolve the concerns and want an independent party (at the company's expense) to identify the concerns that need to be resolved. Although the company responded to my complaint, they did not even address the resolution solution I recommended. This whole situation demonstrates they are not at all concerned with their reputation or resolving the concerns I brought to their attention.

Mason Dixon Contracting Response • May 25, 2018

Please let it be known that I have acquired the Final Inspection requirements to call in a final. I have dispatched someone to post the pictures, affidavit, Permit, etc. on the homeowner's home. I am waiting to hear personally from our staff the pics have been posted to have us call in the final inspection date/time. We will keep The Revdex.com updated as to the outcome of the final, satisfaction of the customer and resolve of the complaint.

Thank you,
Shannon M
