Review: I hired [redacted] to do some home renovations on a home I recently purchased. This company was referred to me. I called the contractor who's name was "[redacted]", and he came to my home gave me an estimate of $15,000 to do the job that I requested which did not include materials, labor only. $5,000 upfront to start the job, $5,000 half way through the job and $5,000 on the completion of the job. Gave him a certified check to begin the job, he called the next day and claimed the certified check I gave him bounced and he called me a "liar" and "you people" gave me a bounced check also said I didn't have the money for the job and he was very, very unprofessional. I then told him he should contacted his bank about the issue. He then realized after speaking with his bank, the problem was on his end. We came to the conclusion that day I no longer wanted someone like him to work on my house because he was very disrespectful to my wife and I and he did not handle the situation in a professional manner. "[redacted]" then said ok when the check clears which should take no longer then 2 days, he will then give me back the $5,000, if the money was available the next day, he would give me a call to meet and pick up the money. 2 days went by when I called him numerous times and left messages asking if the money has cleared so we can meet. He finally called back claimed he needs to give me a bill for cancelling the contract. He never mentioned anything like that to me in our previous conversation, he then proceeded to say "we still have a contract and it doesn't matter how someone speaks to you!" He was rude and disrespectful. I went to the City Hall and found out that [redacted] is unable to get a permit in the town I live in and the license number that was on the contract was not in his name and he's also been red flagged by that department. I called [redacted] and told him what I was told by the inspector and I will have to take this to a higher level if I do not get my money back. Review: They took my money to rebuild my Garage and fill in my swimming pool so the land was usable and some landscaping .they were supposed to come back and finish but once they received the last payment witch they claimed that they needed to get materials to finish I have not heard from then since they do not answer the phone or call me back when I ask them to .the Garage floor is hand troweled when it was sposed to have an level finish , the door tracks are put in backwards , there is rebarb showing through the pored driveway , none of the landscape was finished .they put all of the old garage witch was stone in the pool but did not finish makeing it a usable yard witch they charged my ins co $6,000.00 to do.and they were supposed to replace a privacy fence witch is still not done yet eatherDesired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

First, this was an insurance job, which means the name insured pays nothing out of pocket because he or she is insured. It also means that at the end of the job the named insured must sign and notorize a swarn affidavit stating that the ENTIRE JOB IS COMPLETE to their standards and satisfaction. This is exactly what [redacted] did, he sware under oath and penalty of perjery that MasonicPro COMPLETED the job 100%. After signing this affidavit, he then sent it to his insurance company. His insurance company recieved it and called him back to set up a time to have their own inspector take a look at the work to determine if the work is in fact completed and done well. I was present when the inspector came to look at the work we completed, the inspector signed off on it and said we deserve 100% payment, which was $40,000. About a week later [redacted] received the balance of what we where owed which was $33,000. About a month and a half later after [redacted] stating many times he didn't get the check yet from the ins. co., I called [redacted], they stated the check was sent 5 weeks prior and if [redacted] won't pay then our only recourse is to take him to court. After threatening to sue him [redacted] paid us $25,000 and kept $5,000 of our money. We had had enough of [redacted] t this point so we took the $5,000 loss.

If as [redacted] claims, we didn't complete the work, why then would he sign a swarn affidavit stating that ALL THE WORK IS COMPLETE, not only done but done to his satisfaction?

Furthermore, if the work was not complete why then did the insurance companies inspector that came out to the work site, sign off on us getting paid 100% of what we are asking for. If the work was not completed 100% the insurance company would never have sent out a check for $32,000.

In addition, the Town of [redacted] Building Inspector signed off on our work, stating it was a nice job and then gave us the CO.

This complaint is about revenge, [redacted] really thought he was keeping our $32,000, he got us for $5,000 and is still scheming. The experience I've had with [redacted] is that he is a dishonest man. We fulfilled everything in our contract, [redacted] says so, [redacted] Insurance says so, the Town of [redacted] says so, [redacted]'s Inspector says so, [redacted]'s Insurance Co Inspector says so.
