Review: I was under contract until February 24th 2014. I called to schedule my last appointment and they could not get me in but said I could pay for it and have it done in March. I said I was cancelling after this last massage and they told me that it was okay, I just needed to give it to them in writing when I came in.When I did try to cancel, they told me that they would have to charge me for another month since it was now March. I told the girl that was not what I was told on the phone. Her only comment was that I should have read the original contract. I did a search and this is a major complaint all over the US. They should be investigated as they are clearly being deceitful.Desired Settlement: Refund of any charges they post to my account after 2-28-2014

Review: My husband cancelled his membership in-person in October, 2012. The monthly debits ceased as of November, 2012 and for the past 9 months we have not received any communication from Massage Envy to indicate that the account was not closed or that they were still attempting to debit our checking account. Suddenly, out of the blue on July 30th, a debit for $441 appeared on our checking account. I called the Massage Envy location, explained the situation and was told they had nothing in the file closing the account and that I would have to speak with the manager. It took me another day and a substantial amount of wasted time to reach the manager who told me she would not refund the money because they had nothing in writing closing the account. According to her, they had been "trying" to debit the account monthly between November and June but it didn't "go through" until they put in a new system in July. She went on to say that not only will they NOT provide a refund, they will continue a monthly debit of our account until they have 30 days written notice though we have made it very clear that we want the account cancelled. I have heard similar stories about Massage Envy and believe this is probably a franchise-wide practice. They are very difficult to work with and I would recommend that anyone considering a membership think twice and, if you decide to go through with it anyway, keep copies of everything because they definitely do not play fair.Desired Settlement: Refund the $441 and cancel the membership retroactively to October, 2012.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me - I need to only correct the record regarding amount of time to resolution. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.The business did refund the money a few days ago and that response is satisfactory to me, however their response states it was resolved "a few weeks ago" which is not correct.
