Massage Envy - Pinehurst - Southern Pines

Business refuses to cancel membership and refund services that I am unable and too uncomfortable to use, continuing to draft my account for membershipI have made several requests over the past 3 months to cancel my membership due to being unable to use the services. I left messages for several level's of management to attempt to rectify this with no response. I was told by the manager [redacted] last week, that my membership would by cancelled and I would be refunded 2 months of prepaid services. I told her it was unacceptable, I demand a 100% refund for the services I've paid for due to it not being my fault that I'm unable to use them. She promised me that she or [redacted] would call me back that day to rectify the issues. As of today, they have autodraft my account for another month I am unable to use. I again contacted massage envy and demanded a resolution. I was emailed by [redacted] that my membership would be canceled but she refused to refund my money that they basically stole from my account with multiple unauthorized ach drafts. I again demanded a refund and have not received a response nor resolution to this issue.Desired SettlementMy membership needs to be canceled and I expect a 100% refund for services I have been charged for despite multiple attempts to cancel membership.

Explanation of contract is not done completely. Important details are left out.I received a gift certificate for Massage Envy. After my initial visit I was asked by [redacted] if I would be interested in signing up for a monthly reduced rate for massages. She said this rate would be in effect for one year but could be cancelled at any time by using the terms on the contract. At no time did she state that this contract was legally binding for one year. I told her I would think about it but she said if I did not agree to signing for this reduced rate it would not be available to me again. So I signed what I thought I could cancel with a 30 day notice. After my second visit I felt that this service was not for me. I am sensitive to smells and am a bit claustrophobic and I was experiencing both of these on my second visit. There was also noise outside my massage room that made it hard to relax. On 5/7/2015 I dropped off a handwritten letter stating my intent to cancel my contract. I was following what my contract stated and what [redacted] had told me. On 6/10/15 my credit card was charged the monthly fee by Massage Envy. I believed this to be in error since it was thirty days past my cancellation letter to them. I informed my credit card company not to pay this amount and put a stop to any further charges from them. On 8/13/15 I received a call from [redacted] at Massage Envy telling me they needed a new credit card number from me. When I spoke to [redacted] I told her I had canceled my membership by delivering a handwritten letter to them. She asked if I had talked to anyone when I dropped the letter off and I said I didn't know I had to. I told her I did what the contract told me I could do to cancel. She put me on hold and came back and said the contract was for one year and could not be cancelled during that time. I told her that's not what I was told and she basically told me I was legally bound to pay them for one year and she gave me all the reasons how I could legally sever this contract. This was the first I had heard any of these reasons. I then asked for the number of their corporate offices and was put on hold again. When [redacted] came back to the phone she said they did not have that number and I was on my own to find it. I believe [redacted] did not know what she was talking about and had to continually put me on hold to ask someone else what to tell me. Their contract is very hard to read and the copy they gave me is so poor it is almost unreadable except for the third page which tells you what you need to do to cancel the policy. After reading online reviews about Massage Envy in other parts of the country this is a continuing problem with not only me but numerous other people. Their business practices are not very good and I would not recommend them to anyone. All I want is to have this policy cancelled.Desired SettlementCancel my policy.
