Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below I stand by my initial claim of $ The gift certificate that was given to me had NO expiration date and NO disclaimer about monthly maintenance fees Business owner should have protected herself by properly wording the expiration date and maintenance fees on gift certificatesHad this been done, there would be no issue whatsoever because it would have been redeemed before the expiration dateYou cannot ASSUME everybody that receives a gift certificate has been in the office to know your policy.Business owner received money for services that were not rendered Refund to customer should be issued Regards, [redacted]

I'd like to start by responding to what this person says is their main concernThey state they "just want to be treated fairly"Based on my policy of gift certificates expiring after one year and a service fee of $5/month reducing the value each month until its value is $0, I have addressed how to be fair to everyone includI'd like to start by responding to what this person says is their main gets to the receiver of the giftAs I have no way of knowing the contact information of whom they intend the gift forNor will I be held responsible for information they chose not to acknowledge After the original interaction with this person I posted this notice to my Facebook Business Page May 23, As a holistic care small business owner....you put your heart into what you doIt's not about making the big bucks it's about feeling a passion to have a positive effect on people and the world Even though some may look at the rates charged by a therapist as a lot they don't take into consideration all the behind the scenes workThe insurances due...the continuing education...the supplies...the travel...the extra time you spend with multiple clients in listening to and supporting them over the years when they reach out to you via facebook or text The research I have done to help my clients find resources to help them live the life they truly deserve As a convenience I have in the past offered gift certificates as a way to sometimes allow clients to save money on services or even buy for their family and friends There are costs that go into having these certificates printed as well as maintained in my bookkeeping after I sell themAs well I've numerous times honored a gift certificate to a person even though they have lost their original because I keep documentation showing it was purchased and not redeemed I trust as a human being that this person wouldn't try and use it if they find it because I believe in humans being mostly good I also value the time of my clients and prospective clients and view gift certificate appointments as a priority trying to get that person in ASAP which means I book them in over regular clients to ensure the certificate is redeemed in a timely manner Once a certificate is purchased there is a year consideration of time for it to be usedAfter that I as a business owner have to keep maintenance to track unused ones(Imagine your check book when someone won't cash a check you wrote months ago) I'm entitled to taking a fee each month after the first year from the value of that gift certificate for the time I'm spending maintaining unused ones Most of my clients are amazing and honor the purchase or gift they receive and use it well before the year is up Recently I had someone want to use a gift certificate that was purchased almost years agoWhen I explained my policy she became very rude and threatened me with calling Revdex.com as well as slandering my name to ALL of her friends and acquaintances accusing me of stealing money from the person who purchased the gift certificate for her from meShe also promised to ruin my business and ensure I wouldn't have clients Now I'm not concerned because lucky for me I have very strong relationships with my clients and I'm not in fear this persons anger and hostility would threaten what I have built for 5+ years However it made me realize how disgusted I am with someone thinking they have the right to bully, manipulate or threaten me over $(what was received for the original one-hour massage gift certificate) I'm sure they are just angry in general and needed me to be their punching bag for the day...plus probably truly need healing servicesHowever just because I'm a business owner doesn't mean a "customer" can treat me like I owe them something I'm a person and I don't owe any time...energy or attention to someone who is abusive and vindictive Based on this interaction I will no longer offer the option of purchasing gift certificates as a convenience to Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowThe Business owner did NOTHING to resolve this matter SHE DID NOT HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE OR MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ON THE GIFT CERTIFICATE How was I supposed to know this when I received it AS A GIFT? I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN HER OFFICENot fair that I was limited to words when she could go on and on When my friend left her a message SHE DID NOT RETURN HER CALL Business owner only deals with TEXT MESSAGES so she has documentation That was part of the reason it took my friend so long to get in touch with her I was instructed to have my friend, the person who purchased the certificate, to contact her Not me!! I would have taken care of it immediately It's hard when she doesn't return phone calls PLUS business owner DID NOT give me a time period in which to collect the $ She was very rude to my friends when they were in contact to her via text They couldn't believe a business owner would act like that What ever happened to "the customer is always right" IN THE END, SHE FAILED TO PROPERLY DISPLAY THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE GIFT CERTIFICATE AND ALSO FAILED TO NOTE ON THE CERTIFICATE THAT THERE IS A MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE Like I told my friends, had I known there was an expiration date, I surely would have used it by the due date!!! I still believe I am owed the $she promised due to her negligence of displaying the proper expiration dates/maintenance feesShe claims it is posted in her OFFICE, I DON'T KNOW THAT BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER, EVER BEEN IN HER OFFICEAND JUST FOR THE RECORD, I AM LIVING A WONDERFUL LIFE AND DON'T REALLY HAVE TIME FOR THIS CRAP BUT I FEEL SHE IS TRYING TO RIP ME OFF AND WHO KNOWS OTHER PEOPLE AND I STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHTSHE IS THE BUSINESS OWNER IT IS HER OBLIGATION TO TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT, NOT TELL THEM THEY MUST HAVE A TERRIBLE LIFE that I have nothing better to do than to pursue this! MAYBE THE LICENSING BOARD NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED OF HER TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS I'M SURE I'M NOT THE FIRST AND WON'T BE THE LAST! Oh and by the way, she pulled the "I WILL NOT BE HARRASSED OR BULLIED" line with my friends too Makes her look like the victim Yeah, she's good! She also texted me friends not to contact her any moreThis is just ridiculous! I have never dealt with a business owner who is so immature, rude, nasty and claims to be bullied [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] Regards, [redacted]

Based on my policy of gift certificates expiring after one year and a service fee of $5/month reducing the value each month until its value is $0, I have addressed how to be fair to everyone including myself. This ensures that clients or purchasers understand that a gift certificate is not something that once purchased can be held onto forever and then used as a claim of ownership to the business owner.
A year is an appropriate time to allow this person to use or gift this to another. It is not my responsibility to make sure this information gets to the receiver of the gift. As I have no way of knowing the contact information of whom they intend the gift for. Nor will I be held responsible for information they chose not to acknowledge.
After the original interaction with this person I posted this notice to my Facebook Business Page May 23, 2015.
As a holistic care small business owner....you put your heart into what you do. It's not about making the big bucks it's about feeling a passion to have a positive effect on people and the world.
Even though some may look at the rates charged by a therapist as a lot they don't take into consideration all the behind the scenes work. The insurances due...the continuing education...the supplies...the travel...the extra time you spend with multiple clients in listening to and supporting them over the years when they reach out to you via facebook or text.
The research I have done to help my clients find resources to help them live the life they truly deserve.
As a convenience I have in the past offered gift certificates as a way to sometimes allow clients to save money on services or even buy for their family and friends.
There are costs that go into having these certificates printed as well as maintained in my bookkeeping after I sell them. As well I've numerous times honored a gift certificate to a person even though they have lost their original because I keep documentation showing it was purchased and not redeemed.
I trust as a human being that this person wouldn't try and use it if they find it because I believe in humans being mostly good.
I also value the time of my clients and prospective clients and view gift certificate appointments as a priority trying to get that person in ASAP which means I book them in over regular clients to ensure the certificate is redeemed in a timely manner.
Once a certificate is purchased there is a year consideration of time for it to be used. After that I as a business owner have to keep maintenance to track unused ones. (Imagine your check book when someone won't cash a check you wrote months ago)
I'm entitled to taking a fee each month after the first year from the value of that gift certificate for the time I'm spending maintaining unused ones.
Most of my clients are amazing and honor the purchase or gift they receive and use it well before the year is up.
Recently I had someone want to use a gift certificate that was purchased almost 5 years ago. When I explained my policy she became very rude and threatened me with calling Revdex.com as well as slandering my name to ALL of her friends and acquaintances accusing me of stealing money from the person who purchased the gift certificate for her from me. She also promised to ruin my business and ensure I wouldn't have clients.
Now I'm not concerned because lucky for me I have very strong relationships with my clients and I'm not in fear this persons anger and hostility would threaten what I have built for 5+ years.
However it made me realize how disgusted I am with someone thinking they have the right to bully, manipulate or threaten me over $28 (what was received for the original one-hour massage gift certificate).
I'm sure they are just angry in general and needed me to be their punching bag for the day...plus probably truly need healing services. However just because I'm a business owner doesn't mean a "customer" can treat me like I owe them something.
I'm a person and I don't owe any time...energy or attention to someone who is abusive and vindictive.
Based on this interaction I will no longer offer the option of purchasing gift certificates as a convenience to anyone.
What can be done is make a scheduled appointment and pay for the service via PayPal (with an additional service fee). The appointment will be secured with the payment.
Thank you for consideration in this change to my current business practices.
If you currently are holding a gift certificate please use it in a timely manner.
Thank you
[redacted]
This persons actions caused me to have to change the way I do business which is unfair to ALL my OTHER clients who don't abuse this convenience option I offer. This has caused me to lose business because I don't offer this option. Is this fair?
I will not defend myself as far as her believing I was rude or snotty. She doesn't know me and those are clearly her perceptions which I have no control over.
I have screen shot all texting documentation for those viewing this to make their own decisions. I believe no matter how professional you try to be with people, they believe they can scream at you and belittle you and because they are a "customer" it's ok.
I don't agree with that. If I'm being mistreated as a human being...I will set boundaries and make it clear I will not be bullied, manipulated or threatened. I hung up on my phone conversation with her because she screamed at me, threatened me and did not allow me to speak to any of her concerns...she only wanted to hear she was going to get what she wanted.
I have attached my conversation with her and labeled as Image #1 and Image #2.
5 months later I received a text only (never a phone call as she claims) message "claiming" to be the friend that purchased the gift certificate, which I have attached and labeled as image #3.
A couple key facts:
She insists the gift certificate was purchased in 2011 not 2010 and I, the one who keeps impeccable records, is wrong.
She insists the gift certificate was purchased for $50-$60 even though she didn't purchase it and no one else besides me has documentation for the actual value. I realize it being a gift from 15 of your friends you would hope they chipped in something that was valued at $50-$60 but no, her friend got this "on sale" because I was just starting my business in 2010 and offered drastically discounted massages to help build my client base. My actual hourly value now is $65/HR.
The line for a prompted expiration date was used to list the phone number. It did not state it didn't expire. This is her perceived assumption, which is inaccurate.
I no longer run my business as I did in 2010 I made changes in March of 2015 which is the last image I have submitted. So no I'm not easy to get a hold of because my priority is my current clients and current and valid gift certificates.
Even though I spoke multiple times in my messages to both women (if the 2nd correspondence was actually someone different)that the monthly maintenance fee is $5 she reports to Revdex.com that it is $3. Both these women have proven in their statements that there expectation is they can sit on this situation for as long as they want. 4.5 years for Darlene and 5 months for Pamela and as soon as they want my service or refund I am suppose to react immediately. Had it truly been the respected gift she should have valued it at, she would have made the time to use it within the 1st year of receiving it....not 4.5 years later. Time is of the essence. If it's valuable to you...you make time for it.
Thank you.

Thank you. Mickaela Sending love, light and healing to anyone who needs it.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I stand by my initial claim of $28.  The gift certificate that was given to me had NO expiration date and NO disclaimer about monthly maintenance fees.  Business owner should have protected herself by properly wording the expiration date and maintenance fees on gift certificates. Had this been done, there would be no issue whatsoever because it would have been redeemed before the expiration date. You cannot ASSUME everybody that receives a gift certificate has been in the office to know your policy.Business owner received money for services that were not rendered.  Refund to customer should be issued...

The Business owner did NOTHING to resolve this matter.  SHE DID NOT HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE OR MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ON THE GIFT CERTIFICATE.  How was I supposed to know this when I received it AS A GIFT?  i HAVE NEVER BEEN IN HER OFFICE.
Not fair that I was limited to 1000 words when she could go on and on.  When my friend left her a message SHE DID NOT RETURN HER CALL.  Business owner only deals with TEXT MESSAGES so she has documentation.  That was part of the reason it took my friend so long to get in touch with her.  I was instructed to have my friend, the person who purchased the certificate, to contact her.  Not me!!  I would have taken care of it immediately.  It's hard when she doesn't return phone calls.  PLUS business owner DID NOT give me a time period in which to collect the $28.
She was very rude to my friends when they were in contact to her via text.  They couldn't believe a business owner would act like that.  What ever happened to "the customer is always right".
IN THE END, SHE FAILED TO PROPERLY DISPLAY THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE GIFT CERTIFICATE AND ALSO FAILED TO NOTE ON THE CERTIFICATE THAT THERE IS A MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE.  Like I told my friends, had I known there was an expiration date, I surely would have used it by the due date!!!
I still believe I am owed the $28 she promised due to her negligence of displaying the proper expiration dates/maintenance fees. She claims it is posted in her OFFICE, I DON'T KNOW THAT BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER, EVER BEEN IN HER OFFICE.
AND JUST FOR THE RECORD, I AM LIVING A WONDERFUL LIFE AND DON'T REALLY HAVE TIME FOR THIS CRAP BUT I FEEL SHE IS TRYING TO RIP ME OFF AND WHO KNOWS OTHER PEOPLE AND I STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.
SHE IS THE BUSINESS OWNER.  IT IS HER OBLIGATION TO TREAT CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT, NOT TELL THEM THEY MUST HAVE A TERRIBLE LIFE that I have nothing better to do than to pursue this!
MAYBE THE LICENSING BOARD NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED OF HER TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS.  I'M SURE I'M NOT THE FIRST AND WON'T BE THE LAST!
Oh and by the way,  she pulled the "I WILL NOT BE HARRASSED OR BULLIED" line with my friends too.  Makes her look like the victim.  Yeah, she's good!  She also texted me friends not to contact her any more.
This is just ridiculous!  I have never dealt with a business owner who is so immature, rude, nasty and claims to be bullied.

I stand by my initial response, even with her continued threats and emotional name calling, that I will treat this situation like I would any gift certificate that is years past its expiration. Gift certificate #77 is expired and has a $0 value. In the past I have offered free massage because I believe in doing Karma massage and give my services for free sometimes, however I will not put myself in a hostile situation with anyone who threatens me as it non-conducive to the therapeutic or healing experience my client and/or myself deserve. It is not fair to give this person more than they are owed just because they insist that "the customer is always right." She has made it clear she wants to be right not fair.Thank you for your time and effort Revdex.com,[redacted]
