Master Lee's Tae Kwon Do Reviews (1)

Review: My daughter was previously in Tae Kwon do In Brooklyn but we moved to Staten Island and it would be too much to travel back and forth. I signed my daughter Julianna Sellitti up at Master Lee's Tae Kwon Do on September **, 2013. My daughter attended class for two days and after the second day in the middle of the class she started crying and insisted that she didn't want to go back. I approached the owner and he said to give her time and maybe she would change her mind if not I will be refunded the 170.00 that I spent for a month which included the uniform which was 40.00 and the month 130.00. I waited three months and I contacted Master Lee over the phone and he denied that he said he would refund me the money. I filed a dispute with my bank account against the charge and Master Lee told them I never canceled. Which is untrue. The bank said they could not do anymore to help me. I even tried to reason with Master Lee and told him to charge me for the two classes and the uniform and refund me the rest. He said no.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded my 170.00.

Response:

On September **, 2013, [redacted] and her daughter, [redacted], visited my studio to obtain information about signing up. That day, I was informed that they recently moved from Brooklyn and since [redacted] did Tae Kwon Do in Brooklyn, [redacted] wanted her to continue in Staten Island as well. So I gave her the information about [redacted]'s classes and the payments. I told her to watch the class and if she wanted her daughter to join, then she can come back later. On September [redacted], 2013, [redacted] came in and told me that she wanted to sign up her daughter. She purchased the uniform for $40 and the monthly payment for $130. She also filled out an information card and signed a wavier that was included in the card. The wavier profoundly states that the fee paid for the evaluation program is not refundable. That day, [redacted] attended her first class. On September [redacted], 2013, [redacted] attended her second class. However, she bega n to cry and went outside. On September [redacted], 2013, [redacted] came back said that [redacted] did not want to continue. Since the payment is not refundable, I told her that I would delay the payment so that if Juliana changed her mind then she can come back and continue with the purchased payment. I never said that I would give a $170 refund which included the uniform and the monthly fee if she still didn't want to continue. The uniform was already purchased and worn. Therefore, it is not refundable. Also, since [redacted] already purchased the monthly payment, the classes missed counts as absentees. I don't usually delay the payments but since [redacted] was only 4 and was not use to the environment yet I figured I'd give her time. Three months later, I received a phone call saying that she wanted a refund. I told her that we do not give refunds because that is our policy. She got frustrated and tried to reason with me. She said that she would pay for t he two classes and the uniform. However, like I said before, the day the student doesn't attend class counts as an absentee. If you miss a class, it is up to you to bring them to a make up class. We do not give refunds for each class they missed or the whole payment. So I said no. Then she threatened us that if she does not get her money back then she will bring her lawyer. About two weeks passed and I received a chargeback letter from the bank stating that $170 was withdrawn out of my bank account. It said that the payment was canceled. However, I never agreed on canceling any payments so I called the bank and stated my position. They agreed with my position and recharged $170. After this, I received the letter a week later so this is my response to her complain.
