Master Piece Carpet One Reviews (1)

Review: We contacted Masterpiece Carpet One for our flooring needs. [redacted] handled our account. He was professional, efficient and forthright. We ordered our flooring (carpet and vinyl) the week of November 24th and paid our deposit of 50% of the material bill. [redacted] stated that the carpet and vinyl would arrive approximately 3 weeks later due to the Thanksgiving holiday. This was not a problem as Mr. [redacted] and I discussed having the flooring installed the week of December 22nd, 2014 as that was normally a very slow time for their installers.

I contacted Masterpiece mid-December to confirm the install date. Mr. [redacted] was out of the office for training. A nice woman stated that we were not on the install schedule for that time period. I found this strange but accepted the install date of December 31 and January 1. My husband had arranged to take the week of Christmas off of work to prep the house (move all the furniture and remove the existing flooring) for the install. He instead took the week of Dec. 29th off to accommodate Masterpiece's install schedule. I confirmed that our carpet and vinyl had arrived and was now in stock. I was told yes it was.

Monday, December 29th, I contacted Masterpiece to see if they needed us to remove the tack strips or if we were suppose to leave them. At that time, mid-afternoon, we learned that the installer was sick and the install was not going to happen as scheduled on the following day. [redacted] (the owner) told me they would fit us in the following week. I explained to [redacted] that my husband had already taken the week off, the furniture was already out of the four bedrooms and the existing carpet removed. The tack strips were exposed and dangerous. He said he did not have an installer to do the work. So I contacted a professional installer, [redacted], with over 30 years experience and begged him to help us. He agreed to come do our install. I contact [redacted] (don't know his last name) and told him I had found an installer. Mr. [redacted] installed our carpet on the requested dates and did a beautiful job.

Monday, January 5, 2015, Mr. [redacted] and I chatted and confirmed the install of the maple fiberglass backed vinyl was starting on Wednesday, January 7th and completing on Thursday, Janurary 8th. We removed all the flooring prior to Wednesday morning.

Today, January 7, 2015, I received a phone call from Mr. [redacted]. He was very apologetic. The installer had come by the warehouse to get the vinyl and it was not in the warehouse. Mr. [redacted] proceeded to explain that the complete roll of vinyl that was needed to complete our install had been ordered back in November. However, even though we had paid our 50% down, Masterpiece could not pay for the vinyl so the roll was sold to some other company. The owner of Materpiece was notified but we were not. The vinyl that we ordered has now been discontinued and is no longer available, especially in the large quantity that we need.

Mr. [redacted] offered to order another vinyl in for us. The vinyl is the same style but not the same color and is significantly darker than what we wanted. This was the only option we were given. We spent significant amounts of time to assure that the vinyl would match the entire remodel of the facility, including new carpet, hardwood and paint. The new vinyl will not arrive for 3 weeks. Which means my and my husband's office are filled with the items that are normally in the other rooms that were prepped for the vinyl install. It is impossible to get into my husband's office and my office has only a small area that is usable. The rooms that were suppose to be installed have sticky glue all over the floor and that is getting on our brand new carpet that was just installed. Add to this severe inconvenience, we are expecting a litter of pure bred Samoyed puppies on January 21st. Because of this delay, we now have no place to whelp our litter. We can not whelp a litter on glue covered concrete.

We are severely disappointed in Mr. [redacted]'s poor choice to commingle our funds and use our deposit to pay for someone else's flooring. Our deposit should have been used to pay for our flooring and assure that his company delivered the products in the time frame that was guaranteed.

To add insult to injury, we were informed today that Mr. [redacted] is not going to guarantee our carpet because his installer, who is an independent sub that we were to pay directly for his install, did not install our carpet. This was NOT explained when we were told that Mr. [redacted]'s sub was sick. Nor were we told this bit of important information prior to Mr. [redacted] installing the carpet. This type of unethical behavior needs to be corrected.Desired Settlement: First an apology for commingling our funds. An apology for making your staff handle this situation when it should have been handled by the owner.

Second: A full written guarantee on our carpet, no exclusions.

Third: The vinyl.

A. find the vinyl we originally ordered, have it shipped in and installed prior to January 19th and we will pay the original amount agreed upon in our contract.

B. Order the darker vinyl we were shown today and have it installed by January 19th and accept the 50% deposit payment for materials as payment in full. (installation will be paid directly to the installer as previously agreed.)

Thank you for hearing our complaint.
