Direct Express uses MC for fraud
MasterCard cheated me every month for at least $50 for 6 months, lots more than that in the past year. They lied telling me to get another card when I told him to close my account and return my Social Security money that I told Social Security not to send to them. They are rampant with fraud cases US government screwed up when they started direct express its had nothing but bad reviews.

Review: Charges to [redacted] MasterCard ending in [redacted] In May of 2010 I had agreed in good faith to purchase products from a store in NYC, NY for the amount of three thousand and six hundred dollars. The stores name was Unlimited Mobile and the purchase was for six unlocked Iphone's. I called ahead of time (I live in NJ) and agreed on a flat fee of three thousand and six hundred dollars for the phones. We agreed that the phones will be unlocked and be without a contract. I (ie my messenger- a registered user on my card) entered the store in good faith to make the purchase and after being charged the $3600, I was told that that they will be charging me another $600 for activation fees. When I explained to the store manager that we had agreed on a final price already, (and that an activation fee shouldn't apply as I'm purchasing the phones without a service plan,) he still refused to budge. I then requested to return the merchandise and be refunded my charges, but He refused this as well. The only thing he agreed to was to give me five phones instead of the agreed upon six. This wouldn't be a price that made sense for me so I refused this idea. Right away, I contacted [redacted] MasterCard and was told not to worry. I was told to leave the merchandise in the store and at the end of the billing cycle dispute the charge, and I wont be charged as it is an unauthorized charge. I did exactly as I was told. I left the five (instead of six) Iphone's in the store, waited until the end of that billing cycle, and went ahead and disputed the charge. I was therefore shocked to find that I was charged the full amount. When I called up Mastercard and asked about this, I was told that the store claim was that I tried returning items that they have a, "No-Return Policy", and that Mastercard had sided with the store owners. I was left without any products and a $3,600 charge that I had no easy way to pay (the plan was to sell the phones at a profit). From then on I have been paying the minimum payment every month with interest. At approximately the end of the year I sent a complaint letter to the offices of the president of [redacted] Mastercard, Mr. *. [redacted]. They replied by releasing me of interest that had accumulated until that day, but refusing to remove the interest from then on. They also refused to fulfill my main request-to remove all charges and refund all monies. The focal point of my complaint is one thing. Mastercard had told me many times that they have a zero-liability clause for all unauthorized charges. They have told me this and have this prominently displayed on advertising documents as well. This " Zero-liability clause" had somehow not included me. To top this all off, I was never contacted to discuss the claim of the store owner. The charge was put on my account without due process. To make matters worse, I was advised to leave the mechandise that I did receive in the store and was therefore left with a charge without any products to show for it.Desired Settlement: I would like a complete and full refund of all monies that I have paid. I demand as well for the rest of the charge on my card to be absolved. I request an appology letter from the company as well.

MasterCard International Incorporated is in receipt of the consumer complaint issued by the Revdex.com dated November

**, 2013 in regard to the above referenced matter and attaches its response.

November **, 2013

Dear Sir/Madam

MasterCard International Incorporated ("MasterCard") is in receipt of the consumer complaint sent by you in connection with the above referenced matter.

Please be advised that MasterCard does not maintain accounts or establish individual customer relationships with cardholders. While banks and financial institutions do issue cards branded with the MasterCard name and mark under a license from MasterCard, the actual relationship with a cardholder is solely that of the issuing institution. Unfortunately, we cannot identify the issuing bank for [redacted] card absent the first six digits of the card.

Please be further advised that pursuant to MasterCard's rules, the chargebaek process by which a chargeback is disputed is administered by the issuer and the acquirer (the financial I nslitution that maintains a merchant's account), not by MasterCard.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

The bussiness has not given me a way for me to give over the first 6 numbers of my card and thus be fwd to the bank that it says is responsible. Furthermore, the bussines does not explain why it itself is not to be held responsible.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: A MASTERCARD $25 Gift Card was purchased from a local retailer, in the state of MARYLAND, in or around December 2011. Although the card clearly states on the back that the card will adhere to all applicable STATE laws regarding the Gift Card, they have been charging monthly fees for close to a year on the card. To my knowledge, the card is not reloadable, or was not purchased to be a reloadable card. However, Mastercard claims that they do not have to provide the state-mandated 4-YEAR waiver of any fees as the card is a multiple-retailer card AND they claim that the card is reloadable. The card has not been reloaded once, and was not purchased to be a reloadable card. It is my assertion that Mastercard INTENTIONALLY misrepresents their cards as "Gift Cards" when in fact they are Reloadable Debit Cards subject to fees which consumers are left to believe are protected by "State Law" as it states on the rear of the card.Desired Settlement: I DEMAND a $25 refund of the Card that I purchased.

Review: My son recieved a $25 MasterCard gift card for Christmas in 2011. The front of the card says the card was good until 01/**. He decided to save the card and use it for a bigger purchase at a later date. When he went to use the card in May 2013, he was told there wasn't any money left on the card. I called MasterCard on on 5/**/2013 to see why there wasn't any money on the card, and I was told that after a year, they start deducting $2 every month. They said this was clearly indicated on the packaging of the card, and is printed on the back of the card. I informed them that I didn't feel it was clearly stated, because it was in very small print on the back of the card, but on the front of the card in bold letters at least 3-4 times the size, it states that the card is valid until 01/** and that makes it very misleading, especially to a child. They wouldn't do anything, so I asked to talk to a manager, and they basically told me the same thing. I asked to dispute the charges and they said they would forward it on to that department. They responded by voicemail, and said they couldn't return the money because the card was used. I called back on 6/**/13 and informed them that the card was not ever used, and asked when it was used. They said the card was swiped on 12/**/11. Again, I informed them that he didn't receive the card until 12/**/11, so he never could have used it. I said, the swipe was probably made during the purchase of the card to activate it. They said that could be, because the card was bought on that day, but they swiped the card. I said, if that happened at the time of purchase, it's not my sons fault. And no money was ever taken off the card. They said, they couldn't verify that because they didn't have the transactions going back that far. But I told them, if you look at your transactions of the money they took off for "service fees", they can tell, no money was every used off the card. They started taking $2 off every month starting in 12/** and removed the last $1 on 12/**. If any money had been charged against the card, there wouldn't have been a dollar left on 12/** for them to take as a service fee. They said there wasn't anything they could do, so I asked again to have it escalated and that I requested that I needed to talk to them in person, and lot to leave me a voicemail. They eventualy called back, but left a voicemail, with no contact information to reach them, so I called them back again on June **, and again on June ** and each time asked to talk to a manager, but they wouldn't do anything. I feel their card is purposefully misleading, by having the "Valid Thru" date printed clearly on the front of the card, when in reality, the card (which is "NON-RELOADABLE", printed in large letters on the back), was worthless, a full year before the "Valid Thru" date printed on the front of the card.Desired Settlement: I would like for MasterCard to either add the $25 back on to his card, issue him a new $25 gift card, or send him a check for $25.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Prepaid MasterCard and loaded it at the retail location in the amount of $500.00 I then proceeded to use the card to pay for my family vacation. The transaction went into a pending status and MasterCard is saying that it could take up to 30 days to release my funds. I can not wait for 30 days for this to happen as my vacation is to start on August **, 2013. They are not interested in doing anything about this. I have spoken to them at least 6 times about the urgency of this. I also escalated this to a supervisor @ [redacted]-###-###-####, I spent 30 minutes explaining the situation and I was told to contact the Resort where we are going. I have done that and they say they want paid and they need to paid or my vacation could be in jeopardy of being cancelled. That being said they say that Master Card needs to release the funds. Which they say they can not do. Right now I am stuck in the middle of this grudge match between MasterCard and the ResortDesired Settlement: At this point if there was a card error and it declined I need transaction cleared out of the system and the $500 placed back on the card so I can attempt this transaction again. I don't have another $500 laying around to finish paying this balance and again I can not wait 30 days for this to happen. I need help on this I have called and talked until I was blue in the face and have made zero progress.

Dear Sir/Madam:

MasterCard International Incorporated ("MasterCard") is in receipt of the consumer complaint sent by you In connection with the

above referenced matter.

Please be advised that MasterCard does not maintain accounts or establish individual custom.er relationships with prepaid cardholders.

While banks and financial institutions do issue prepaid cards branded with the MasterCard name and mark under a license from MasterCard,

the actual relationship with a prepaid cardholder is solely that of the issuing institution.

Based on the information you provided, it appears that the issuing bank is US National bank. The issuing institution's contact information is as follows.

Review: On December [redacted], 2014 at [redacted] in New York, there was a MasterCard [redacted] When asked what that was about, the attendants told me that MasterCard would give my money back, up to US$250 of my purchase that day at that shopping mall if I paid with my Master card. It was eleven in the morning and the staff did not know how many cardholders would be eligible to get the refund but that the number was limited to a few. I went shopping in a hurry and came back as soon as I could, stayed in line and when my turn came I presented the shop receipts and had my e-mail address written down. I was given a gift bag and was told that in a few days $250 would be credited in my account. So far I have not seen such refund. On January [redacted] I called MasterCard office in Brazil to complain and was told they would check. A few days later they told that the gift was just the bag I was handed that day ( December [redacted] ). I have been insisting with them trying to show them that I was deceived by the staff on duty that day. They say they will give a satisfactory answer but they do not do anything. I call them on telephone and the answer is always the same : "As soon as possible we will call you back". I am tired and I am sure I deserve more attentionDesired Settlement: The least they can do for me is to find a way to give me the $250 the staff made me to spend on unnecessary items I bought that day.

Review: The story is as follows: 1) I do lots of shipping via [redacted] On July **(?) , 2013 I opened the website ( [redacted]) . After I entered my account ID and password to log in to do my shipping, suddenly a new full screen window was popped on to ask me to do a simple survey. When I finished the survey I was offered to claim a free gift ( at that moment I thought It be a free gift from Purolator company, since I didn't click anything on my PC's screen)), and the screen showed me that I had to pay the shipping fee ( about $5 USD) and I filled in my PC master card information and my home address. 2) I was waiting for a free gift from Purolator. 3) On Aug *, 2013 I found a little parcel which was not a free gift from Purolator company, but it was from this address: [redacted] ( Weight 0.310kg). The product is: Lorelia, anti-aging formula. THERE IS NO UPC number, and NO MANUFACTURE name on the product. 4) I googled " Lorelia" and found lots of complains. I thought I was spammed by that company. 5) On Aug *, 2013 I phoned PC master card and asked them to cancel my master card. PCM offered a new credit to me. 6) I sent an email to that company ( I googled the address, I didn't know the name of that company before) to ask for return of the product. But I did not received any answer. It maybe sent to wrong address? I phoned that company ( the phone number was googled from internet) to cancelled that "deal". I learned this from internet: If you didnot call that number you will be charged every month lots of money from you credit card. I absolutely did not know that I have to pay that company every month. I was totally hiked by that SPAM company. 7) When I received my Present choice master statement I knew that On Aug **, 2013 that SPAM company charged me 41.08 Canadian dollars. 8) I contacted PC master card company many times . PCM didn't help me to get the money back. 9) Right now a) I do NOT know what is the real name of that SPAM company. b) It shows On the statement of PCM: Aug **(2013) [redacted] ..... 41.08 PCM( President Choice Mastercard) : [redacted]Desired Settlement: Can you help me to get my money CAD 41.08 back? When I did that ( Filling the form of my credit card information to receive a free gift ) my co-worker knew this and he was seated beside me. I keep all rights to sue that SPAM company and Master Credit Company if I can't get my money back.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

I have argued with PCM ( Present's Choice Mastercard) and PCM didn't believe me what I told them all the information. The most important is that who authorized that SPAM company to collect money via Mastercard? That company used fraud method to get my mastercard information to make money.

My question is who authorize such that company to make money by fraud method via Mastercard? Is that not Mastercard?

I wrote in details that I didn't know that company any other information. Only Mastercard knew that company's information and Mastercard authorize that company to collect money. I had called PCM Mastercard to disable my PCM Mastercard right away! But They didn't do that. My old PCM Mastercard number is : [redacted] .

On July ** 2013, My PCM was charged $6.32 CAD( 5.99USD ) under name of [redacted] for shipping that " free gift " which was ( I thought ) from [redacted], but it WAS not from Purolator company.

I was very angry that company hiked my company's computer to use a fraud to make money!

I have to fight against that kind of company for me and for everyone else!

Thank you very much for help!

Their reply are useless. If Mastercard is responsible they should disable my PC mastercard right away when I reported my situation, then that SPAM company could not charge me anymore.

I have contacted PC Mastercard many times BUT PC mastercard helped that fraud company and did NOT believe me.

I didn't think Mastercard company like to help their customers

Review: MasterCard is the provider of the debit card through my bank. That bank, [redacted] ([redacted]) is unable to help me. The issue is that the SecureCode box that pops up during an online transaction stops the transaction since I do not have a SecureCode. I have tried to get one, but to no avail. This is costing me time and money and I have TRIED to contact MasterCard by phone and email, and both have been dead ends. I have sent an email and not heard back and they electronic phone tree ended in with a selection of the card being lost/stolen or to contact my financial institution. [redacted] has told me that even they cannot get help from MasterCard in these cases and they have several unhappy customers. MasterCard's website is confusing and NOT user-friendly and does NOT provide any way of rectifying this issue.Desired Settlement: I want to be able to use my debit card online. It's the ONLY reason I have it. I need someone to help me correct the SecureCode issue ASAP and give me a way to FINALLY be able to shop online as I need to.
