These plans that Mastercraft charged for for already completed by Mastercraft for a model home built in Pewaukee.  The plans were no way architected specific to our family.  Based on Mastercraft unwilling to refund our $500 for no services rendered, I will be giving Mastercraft a F rating with the Revdex.com and posting to social media regsrdling their business practices.

Review: We moved into our house built by Mastercraft in August of 2013. We did an initial punch list and follow up punch lists along with our one year warranty walk. All these created open items for Mastercraft to fix. They have failed to fix all the issues even ones that have been on the list since August of 2013. They are now not responding to our request to schedule the work to be completed.Desired Settlement: We want them to fix all issues on the punchlist.

Review: Spent two months negotiating price, specifications, features, allowances, etc. with Mastercraft Builders sales person Chris C[redacted]. A price, along with features was agreed on. On May 9th, 10th and 12th through text from Chris, it was stated to me that Lorenzo ([redacted] Lorenzo C[redacted]) had agreed to a price of $249,500.00. This was also sent via email by sales Chris, again verifying the price, features of the new home. At that time we decided to add additional square footage to home at the retail price that was given to us by sales Chris. On June 8th, received email from Chris with contract (with agreed price, outline of features and house) and he stated "Please see attached pricing. Lorenzo will not move anymore on pricing for this home. If you would like to move forward please let me know as I will get the contract drafted up." On June 9th, 2015 Chris emailed me the contract with the agreed upon pricing of 258,020.00. On June 10th, 2015 my wife (Melissa [redacted]) along with myself, met with Chris and signed the contract with the price of 258,020.00. Chris also signed the contract. I also handed Chris the deposit in the amount of a check for $1500.00 made out to MC Home Builders. On Friday June 12th, 2015 Chris emailed to contract Kenneth [redacted] of [redacted] for my construction loan financing. On Friday June 12th, 2015 my deposit of $1500.00 was cashed by MC Home Builders. On Monday morning (June 15th, 2015 at approximately 1159 hrs) Chris texted me to send him the soil test. At approximately 1210 hrs I spoke with Chris and he informed me that he was going to get mound system bids for my land. On Monday evening I spoke with [redacted] Lorenzo C[redacted], (who called me) and he informed me that he could not afford to build the home that we had a signed contract on and that he would have to raise the price by "at least $8,000.00. He also stated to me that he made a mistake when he viewed the contract on previous occasions and thought we were building a different home. Lorenzo stated that even with the $8,000.00 increase I was "still getting a good deal." He stated that Newport Builders would be $20,000.00 more. When I asked him about the $400.00 loan application fee I had to pay, Lorenzo stated "that's between you and your bank, I'm not giving you that. They haven't even done anything yet." Lorenzo also stated that he still had my $1500.00 deposit check (even though it had been cashed on June 12th) and would simply mail it back. Lorenzo had offered to build my house at the higher price. When I pointed out that we had a contract, Lorenzo stated that he was not going bankrupt, and was not going to lose money. At time of this complaint I had yet to receive any refund.Desired Settlement: -$1500.00 deposit returned

-refund the difference (additional cost) of building with another builder (due to Lorenzo's breach of contract)

-refund the additional rent I must pay, due to further delays at Lorenzo's fault (additional time negotiating, working out details with a different builder)

-additional cost of interest rate for loan

Business

Response:

As a course of standard business practice the proposed construction agreement was submitted to the office on 06-10-15 along with a proposed down payment check for $1500.00 which was deposited in accordance with our business practice. On Monday 06-15-15 the proposed contract was presented to and reviewed by the members and rejected. A phone call was place by Lorenzo C[redacted] - Member/[redacted] stating that we could not go forward with the proposed construction Contact and alternative solutions were offered. On the next check run of 06-19-15 a check was issued back to the [redacted]'s for the proposed construction down payment. On 06-12-15 the proposed construction agreement was forwarded to the [redacted]'s financial institution of choice [redacted] upon Mr. [redacted]'s request. Per Chris C[redacted] the [redacted]'s where informed that this is a proposed construction agreement, not a contract until signed by a member/[redacted] and it was still subject to review and could not be used as final contract until accepted. We do not feel any additional compensation is due in regards to The [redacted]'s' s claim of a construction contract as the proposed contract was not accepted (see attached page 17 of the unsigned proposed construction contract).

Sincerely, David J. W[redacted]
