Review: Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing today to complain about the following information I found out about my car. I bought my 2013 jeep patriot In December 2015 when buying this car I was told it was clear title and nothing was wrong with the car. At that time they did not disclose it was a salvage title car.On July 28th I took my car into Elk grove dealership to get work done, I needed a new transmission. But before doing that they had to run a diagnostic test on my car to make sure that was the exact reason that was wrong with the car. The dealership came across a warning saying "restricted" meaning it was a salvage title car and with that being said they were not able to work on my car, even though I had full factory warranty. I bought a warranty and was not even able to use it. I also went down to DMV investigation to file a complaint on them.Desired Settlement: Hello Sir/Madam,

When it comes to this matter what I want resolved is the money I put down on the car and the warranty I bought. I also want to give the car back to them and want nothing to do with them. I want there to be a way I can walk away from the dealership with no strings attached from them or the loan company

Response:

I met with the customer today, and her mother. Showed them title on car and showed them NMVTIS report that was printed before she purchased the car, and the carfax as well, all that showed clean title. We both agreed that the information she received is false from repair shop. I was helpful but was not available to talk to her till after she filed complaint. Matador Motors did nothing wrong as we all agreed and am willing to help her in the future on any other issues or need she might have.

Business

Response:

attached is a copy of the NMVTIS report required by the state of California for us to have and the title. Both show that it is a clean title and it is not salvaged. We gladly gave the customer a copy. Clearly the customer is mistaken and was given wrong information by the repair shop to where they took their vehicle too. If you have any other questions or concerns we'd be more than happy to help. thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I purchased a 2001 Honda Odyssy from Matador Motors on Feb 16, 2014. In April 10, 2014 the van broke down while I was in the car with my family. I think a 12,231.80 car should not have broken down in a month and a half after purchase. I have been out of work since the van broke down. I bought the car in good faith and twisted trusted the dealership. This should not have happened as quickly as it did, regardless if its as is or not.Desired Settlement: want my money back and nothing else! I do not trust them enough to buy another car

Business

Response:

Mr [redacted] purchased a Van from us on 2/26/2014. Put $200.00 down and a salvaged truck, I made a deferred down payment agreement with him, which he failed horribly to pay, a few months later when he called me that the van had a transmission problem, I explained to him that I would help him with the cost but it was not my responsibility to pay anything because he bought the car as is. I also expressed to him my disappointment that he ignored my call for months and never made good on the differed down, he said he was not paying anything and to come pick up my van, I have no problem helping even when he bought the car as is and failed to pay anything on time.

Review: OK so let me put it this way for you if your ever thinking about going to a car place and your a first time buyer do not go to Matador motors! do your damn research. The negative reviews do not stop here ..check their [redacted] out and Revdex.com.com I wished I would have did my research and looked at all these reviews myself before I purchased my car! so now let me tell you my storySo I am 18 and me and my boyfriend were first time buyers MATADOR MOTORS mind you my boyfriend is 21 we went in with $1500 to put down on a car they had 3 cars for us to choose from we chose a 2008 PONTIAC G6 GXP . I purchased it on May 22,2015 I have only had the car for 2 weeks.HERES THE PROBLEM 1) WE REQUESTED THE CARFAX FOR THIS VEHICLE WHICH THEY NEVER PROVIDED 2) THE AMOUNT OF THE FINANCING TURNED OUT TO BE MORE THAN THE PURCHASED PRICE IF TAKEN TO THE 54 MONTH PERIOD 3) THEY FAILED TO INFORM US OF PAST PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD HAVE ALLOWED US TO MAKE A PROPER DECISION AND NOT PURCHASE THE RIGGED VEHICLE FROM MATADOR MOTORS4) THEY HAVE ALL THEIR CONTRACTS COMPUTERIZED SO IT IS SET FOR YOU TO JUST CLICK A BUTTON THAT WILL SIGN YOUR SIGNATURE . HE DOES NOT OFFER TO READ THIS PAPERWORK TO YOU (JOSE) AND SPEEDS THROUGH IT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE BY JUST DOING A BRIEF RUN THROUGH ON IT. 5) IT TURNS OUT OUR PERCENTAGE RATE WAS SET AT 24.05 % ( THE MAX) , WHICH ON THEIR WEBSITE IT STATES "RATE AS LOW AS 2.79%" 6) AFTER REQUESTING THE CARFAX I HAD NEVER RECEIVED IT I WAS PROMISED TO BE ABLE TO PAY THE CAR OFF WITHIN 2 YEARS AND I WAS OKAY WITH THAT THE TOTAL AMOUNT COST WAS SUPPOSE TO BE 12,000 AT THE MOST , BUT MATADOR MOTORS SLYLY RAISED THE % WHICH MADE THE COST OF THE CAR 23,000 WHICH WOULD BE A 5 YEAR PAYMENT OF 54 PAYMENTS (THIS I WAS NOT PROMISED)7) KNOWING [redacted] TOLD US TO GO REFINANCE THE VEHICLE WITH ANOTHER BANKING COMPANY ( THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE) 8) THIS WAS NOT [redacted] POSSIBLE BECAUSE BECAUSE AFTER WE RECEIVED THE CAR FAX FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY WE WERE INFORMED THAT NOT ONLY WAS THE CAR SOLD AT TRIPLE ITS VALUE BUT IT HAD BEEN IN TWO CAR ACCIDENTS IN 2009 AND 2013 THOSE CAR ACCIDENTS LEAVING IT WITH A RECALL BECAUSE OF ITS FRAME DAMAGE 9) SO KNOWINGLY [redacted] SOLD US A CAR WITH A SALVAGED TITLE TELLING US IT WAS CLEAN TITLE AND 1 OWNER , IT WAS A RENTAL CAR FIRST WHICH IS WHEN IT GOT INTO ITS FIRST ACCIDENT IN 2009 AND THEN OWNED BY SOMEONE IN 2013 WHICH IS WHEN IT GOT ITS FRAME DAMAGE AND WAS RECALLED BY THE COMPANY THEN WAS SOLD TO A CAR AUCTION WHICH IS APPARENTLY WHERE MATADOR MOTORS BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE , RIGGED IT AND HAPPILY SOLD IT TO 2 FIRST TIME BUYERS AND GOT OVER ON THENSO IN CONCLUSION I AM DRIVING A UNSAFE VEHICLE AND MATADOR MOTORS GOT OVER ON US BIG TIME... OR SO THEY THINK!DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HEREMOST OF THEIR VEHICLES ARE PROBABLY BOUGHT AT AUCTIONSA LOT OF THE REVIEWS OTHER THEN MINE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AND BTW MATADOR MOTORS COMMITTED FRAUD TO THE BANK THAT FINANCED US ( CREDIT ACCEPTANCE) BY TELLING THEM 1) WE WERE MARRIED (WE HAVE ONLY BEEN TOGETHER FOR 7 MONTHS , HE WANTED IT TO LOOK GOOD TO THE BANK)2) THAT WE PUT 2,250 DOWNS INCLUDING THE LICENSING FEE ( MIND YOU WE ONLY PUT 1300 DOWN ON 05/22/2015 AND BROUGHT THE NEXT 200 THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY WE HAVEN'T EVEN PAID THE LICENSING FEES YET!)3) THAT WE HAVE BEEN LIVING TOGETHER FOR 2 YEARS IN MY CURRENT ADDRESS ( REMEMBER WE HAVE ONLY BEEN TOGETHER FOR 7 MONTHS AND I HAVE ONLY BEEN IN MY NEW ADDRESS FOR 7 MONTHS, WE LIVE IN DIFFERENT HOMES) SINCERELY, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I just would like a refund and my contract voided, referring to Assembly Bill 964.

Response:

Tell us why here...These nice folks were 1st time buyers with bad credit, when they approached us, they stated that they could not get financed anywhere and were constantly turned down, we were able to get them financed and were extremely happy and appreciative, Everything was great until family members told them they should not have paid 23.99%. they came in with family members who refused to go on loan so we could get a better rate but of course they all refused. I spoke to customer a few days ago when he asked us for a favor and was apologetic and I said I understand lets put this behind us and I will continue to help when we can. As far as the 2.79% it is available on approval of credit as stated not first time buyers with challenged credit. We both have decided to move forward I hope. Also required by DMV we are suppose to have an INVITIS report at customer request. Thank you. We will also help them refinance as previously offered.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:It is B.S. and he knows it. Because forst and for most I don't have bad credit in 18 I have no credit there is nothing wrong with it and as far as us coming to you because no one else accepted us is also a lie we had two other car businesses on the same street as matador motors that offer us a plan as well we just thought matador motors would have been better which obviously not. He's just trying to cover his [redacted] and his business which is understandable. You wanted us to remove this complaint but that's not going to happen we will be following through with taking this to court. Thank You

Review: We bought a truck from Matador Motors we never received a contract and we were told the price was 13,500 we gave a 5,000 down payment whitch would leave a balance of 8,500 but bank says they financed 14,000 they say we had signed a 25,715.60 contract we never received of remember signing all this 9 months later only because we called to check balance also they promised to fix a big dent on truck and later said they never did.Desired Settlement: We would like them to be investigated since we found 8 more people with same problem and our money we gave to be refunded or added to account like it should’ve been.

Business

Response:

Mr [redacted], worked at a dealership and knows the process very well, so we thought. Mr [redacted] and his wife ( the purchaser ) received a copy of the contract, and if they would like another copy of the contract I would be more than happy to donate another copy. Mr [redacted] states that he purchased the truck for $13,500.00, He is almost correct, The sale price was $13,595.00. He also stated that he financed $14,000.00. Not correct. He financed $11,990.63. His FULL DOWNPAYMENT is also stated on the contract What Mr [redacted] failed to state is that he also purchased an extended warranty through the bank ( it can be cancelled if he chooses to ) and that in the state of California he has to pay sales tax. As far as the financing is concerned Mr [redacted] again failed to mention that he financed the car and there for the bank charges interest not us. Interest is based on credit and he as everyone else is not obligated to finance at that bank and can always refinance at his bank, as he should know working at a dealership. As far as the dent is concerned. We have all the paperwork here stating that the car was sold as is. The “AS IS “ sticker which Ms [redacted] signed.

Review: I [redacted] am writhing this letter because on Dec 10, 2013 I purchased a 2000 Chev Monte Carlo form MATADOR MOTORS at 3536 Florin Rd Sacto CA 95823 the car I wanted I couldn't get it so one of the young lady that work there recommended the monte Carlo the same night I got the car I called and told [redacted] something was wrong with the care [redacted] told me dont worry he will take care of it I took the car back on 12-11-13 we had one of his guys there check the car and he said it wasn't' the transmission cause he grained the fluid and it wasn't no metal pieces then the service engine soon light pops on. So I took the car back to MATADOR MOTORS like 3 or 4 times but needless to say the car never got fixed or the problem but everytime I take the car in they would turn the sevice engine soon light off but the very next day it would always come back on so I got feed up and took my car to a licensed transmission shop called [redacted] contact person name was [redacted] who informed me that the 3rd gear was completly gone out and the motor mounts wasn't no good. That was the loud thump-sound that I also told [redacted] about and I have been telling [redacted] since day one it felt like the transmission and Motor mounts and there was also a code that was found on the car that I was told shouldnt be there and that the car shouldn't have been sold with that code and that explained why the engine light keap coming on and I payed 2624.51 on 2-25-14 to get the car fixed now the car has broke down again 4/1/14 and got to fix it. I have been trying to contact [redacted] several times I haven't been able to talk with him. [redacted] partner Harold told me that he have spoken to [redacted] several times and asked him to call me to discuss the matter needless to say [redacted] still has not contacted I gave Harold a copy of the receipt and the work that has been done on the car I dont feel that I should be responsible.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reinbured my money back or take it off what I owe on the car.

Response:

When [redacted] originally spoke with me we agreed she would bring her car back in so we could look at it to determine exactly what if anything we might be responsible to repair. Instead she decided,on her own, to take the vehicle to an independent repair shop and have her USED car restored. Now she expects us to pay for the restoration. Respectfully, [redacted]

Consumer

Response:

When Matador Motors and I first spoke, we agreed I would bring the car back to Matador Motors. I did that , I actually brought it back 5 (five) different times. He never fixed the problem. I told him it was the transmission. He said his people didn't find any metal shavings so it was not a transmission problem. So when the 2nd gear went out and left a stranded, I had no other choice but take it elsewhere, which cost over $2600.00 dollars.

He never intended to fix the transmission because he knew it would cost a lot. All I'm asking for is my out of pocket expenses.

Response:

We stand by our earlier statement that Ms [redacted] purchased this vehicle in "As Is" condition and did not purchase any extended warranty. We are sorry for her problem and offered her assistance through our dealership which would have reduced any costs on repairs but she chose to have the work done on her own.

Review: Vehicle 2005 Nissan Armada was purchased from Matador Motors Feb 2014. At the time of purchase Feb 2014 & signing of numerous documents I requested my customer copies of ALL documents that I was signing at time of purchase that included: sales contract, CarFax, references etc. In response I was told dealership did not provide requested copies. It was further explained that financing company would provide ALL the requested copies. Upon receipt of FIRST payment invoice from [redacted] Orange County. I spoke to [redacted] who stated copies should have been provided by dealership at time of purchase. Again refering me back to dealership. Contacted dealership - Matador Motors numerous times. Last contact attempt eff 05/2014 I was told that I would be provide a copy of requested items as initially requested in 02/2014 at the time of initial point of contact. Most recent contact today 06/11/2014 initially spoke to [redacted] who was not only unprofessional, without any sort of business etiquette. I was told I was shooting the messenger & barking up the wrong tree". Furthermore when requesting the business license number for [redacted]. He refused to provide me the public information stating he was not comfortable providing me said information. Quickly thereafter terminating the call on his behalf. Called back a second time 06/11/2014 spoke to [redacted] License [redacted] who initially attempted to be helpful nonetheless, redirecting me to establish contact with the financing company who were the responsible parties to provide the copies of correspondently requested signed docs. At the end of call as she was providing a different customer service agent within the business a synopsis of the call. [redacted] stated that I was upset & frusturated & attempting just to take my frusturation on someone. Additionally, stating that she did not understand the urgency by which I was requesting the copies of signed contract items. It is my legal right as a consumer to have copies of any or all documents as requested since 02/14Desired Settlement: Provide me with the appropriate consumer copies of all documents signed at time of purchase NOT copies of copies but the consumer copies that were supposed be provided to me at time of purchase of said vehicle.

Response:

After Ms. [redacted] contacted our office today she was offered by both [redacted] and [redacted] copies of all documents she was requesting but to no avail. She was certainly frustrated and may have had a point but seemed more interested in finding fault than a solution. We were told that her husband was going to come by and pick up the documents she was requesting but as of the close of business this evening (6/11/2014) he has not appeared. We made copies of the documents she requested immediately following her phone call and they are waiting for her upon her arrival.

Review: My name is [redacted] and [redacted]. We went to Matador Auto Sales and we were there for 4 hours looking at cars and we drove 3 cars. The car that we liked would cost us $11,000 and the monthly payment would be $361.00. The deal was made with Mr. [redacted] and he also said that he could drop the price by $500 and even the deposit he could also lower. He wanted $1000 and then lowered it to $500 but he also ran the credit report of my husband's aunt and we thought that as soon as he saw her good credit standing we would not need to leave a deposit, and Mr. Jose asked us that he could accept the $500 for the deposit.Desired Settlement: My husband gave him the $500 or a copy of the paper I signed that supposedly was for the car and we went two Saturday's ago to talk to Jose and he told us that he could not refund the money that we had to purchase the cancellation paper that costs $500 and there I asked him for receipts and he did not give them to me. The date we we went to see the cars was the 5th of April.

Response:

Ms. [redacted] clearly states in her statement that they signed a vehicle contract and purchased a contract cancellation option which shows a vehicle over $10,000 will be charged a $500 restocking fee should they chose to change their minds which they did.

Business

Response:

It is unfortunate that Ms. [redacted] has had a problem with her vehicle however it is in no way a result of our business practices as stated by Ms. [redacted]. At the time of purchase she was offered, as required, a 3 day right of rescission option which she chose not to accept. In addition, it should be noted that in the state of California ALL vehicles, regardless of year, miles or condition MUST be sold "AS IS". Should there be any remaining factory warranty that would of course go with the vehicle. In this case there was none.

Review: OK so I chose to finance my first car. Bad decision!I went to Matador Motors where it says "No bull here". Yeah right, they are full of it. They are crooks. So I got the car on December 7, 2014 and everything was fine until something told me re read over your contract. As I read over it had 24.5 percent rate, I had a co buyer...basically had all of her contact information none really of mine. He used her credit because I didnt have any at all. Then the contract said that I put down 1500$ when really I only put down 800$. So he had been harrassing me for more money and wouldnt fix on my car and I had a two year warranty. Check engine light wouldnt go away. Then I had to call a couple time for my contract because the same night I was signing that contract they took it and never gave it back when I called the receptionist kept saying they dodnt have it , then I called again they did have and she had sent it to me through email. I paid for tags that I had never recieved. The tags had not been paid for since 2013... he was trying to make me pay the late payments which was 400$. He was very rude calling my co buyer cussing her out. So , finally I reported him to consumers finance bureau along with the bank that finaced it because they refused to send me a payment book. They offered me a refund on payments and a vonluntary surrender along with deletion of account and off of my credit after doing investigation. And the owner at Matador, has his car years marked wrong on the car and the prices he puts on his car are much higher. I had to type in a VIN just to find out my car was a 2009 and he had 2006 marked on it. He is crooked I wouldnt suggest him to anyone.Desired Settlement: I feel like he just kept my down payment. Didnt recieve tags that I had already paid for. I feel like I should get my 800$ down payment back.

Response:

I am so sorry the customer feels this way, First of all the customer had horrible credit and explained to us that nobody would finance her, We helped her get financed and put in a car, She did come into the dealership to pick up a copy of her a registration.( For the record her registration fee is $165.00 on the contract, be happy to send Revdex.com a copy.) Matador Motors paid late fees ( can show proof )At any point in time she could have received financing elsewhere, and refinanced the car. She did say she only gave us $800.00 down and I am sorry she feels lost, but I can assure you we did the impossible and got her financed, We have a long list of Satisfied customers and would only want her to be happy in the future. If she ever needs help again we would be willing to help her again. She is always welcome back.
