Matco Remodeling Associates Reviews (2)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
To be clearI ordered one toilet--one, there was no confusionAnd I did have the hardware, it was in a box under the sinkBut I never pulled it out once I realized they were nowhere near finishingI took my slow sweet time to order better hardware when I realized contractors take their slow sweet time to do the job. Although there were several discrepancies, the work is flat out sloppy and was not completedMore than anything the lie of the cabinet which was misordered due to a load bearing wallI was told the cabinet would go floor to ceilingIt is fine that mistakes happen but they need to take ownership for their workThe reason for filing the complaint is due to the wall which was damaged by contractors and was left unfinished--and has not been finished to dateWe have since hired a different contractor to properly finish the bathroomThey did so in less than an hour and in one trip, not several days to patch and dry and sand and another day to patch and another day to sand again. Regards, *** ***

In response to the complaint letter we received, there are several discrepancies as there is always two sides to a story.  After signing of the contract the [redacted] set out to purchase their fixtures.  We did have a tentative start date, but had to delay the project since the customer...

couldn’t make a decision on their bath fixtures.  They had 3 toilets in mind along with two different bath tubs.  This took several phone calls and several more meetings to finally get a choice.  I have no complaint in them taking their time, but it delayed the start date several times since we don’t start a job until all product is in.  The homeowner was suppose to gut out the existing tile floor to save money, but when we arrived that wasn’t done.  We decided that we would gut out the floor to an agreed price.  After the tub was set and we preparing to tile the shower walls we noticed that the walls from the tub to the ceiling was way off level since it’s an older home.  We then laid our tile level and the homeowner wanted us to change out the tile to contour the un-levelness of the walls.  We changed out the tile without any complaints as long as they understood they won’t be level.  As far as a leak, the drain line in the unfinished basement had a leak in the trap which we fixed the very next morning.  As far as the sink leak, Mr. [redacted] notified me and I told him I would look at it.  When we arrived we ran the water in the sink, then filled the sink with water.  After several minutes of this the faucet on drain never leaked a drop.  He was as confused as us.  As far as the cabinetry, the [redacted] are correct in part of the dispute.  When the cabinetry arrived it was 3” too wide.  They wanted these cabinets to fit into an existing linen closet, but the manufacturer sent the wrong width.  They were reordered to fit inside the opening, but the height was never the issue.  During the wait time on the cabinetry they still hadn’t picked out the hardware for the cabinets.  Two weeks later they arrived and we installed them.  We wanted to finish the job, but still no hardware decision was made.  The toilet was told to me that it was the wrong one only to find out that the wrong seal was delivered.  They ordered an elongate bowl and sent out a standard seat.  This was an easy fix and was taken care of the very next day.  As of today they today they told me that they feel something under two floor tiles and they would like them replaced.  I tried twice to schedule to remove the tile – one day they said no because they want to sleep in then the next time he said he was out of town.  The mirror situation was the homeowner’s fault, not ours.  They purchased a mirror with crown molding to match their vanity.  This would have been fine, but she then went and bought an expensive light bar which had hanging lights.  This particular fixture can have the light shine up or down.  We installed them up so that the crown molding would fit.  They liked it at first, but then changed their mind and wanted it flipped.  We then constructed the frame by removing the crown molding and using scribe molding.  This was at no extra cost.  The customer also was suppose to paint the bathroom and was notified that existing heat vent would also be painted by them.  They then asked us to paint which we did for cost.  There is drywall behind the vent and we have since purchased longer screws to better secure the vent. In conclusion, all we want is for the [redacted] to enjoy their bathroom.  We don’t make money when any job drags out and we stand behind any work we do – in the past, future, and present. Sincerely, John M[redacted]
