I had initially reached out via email; within 24hours I was in contact with one of the instructors, she had gone over the program, sent me info on the certification process and helped me enroll for an in person training. The in person training was very hands on, very informative and I was able to meet a community of doulas in my area as well as nationwide.

MaternityWise offers comprehensive training programs for Doulas. Their self paced programs, in person trainings and training materials are unparalleled in my opinion. I felt supported throughout certification and continue to be supported well after my certification. They make certification possible via payment plans fitting any budget.

MaternityWise International has been an invaluable resource that has layed the foundation for me to accomplish my goals of becoming a full spectrum doula. Through education & an incredible amount of support from my mentors, I have achieved my goal. Through MaternityWise I have found wisdom & experience from those who have walked before me, a resource of knowledge, a great team with world wide support & a whole lot of fun. I have continued to further my education through MaternityWise as I take more trainings offered. I am so grateful to have found them.

I read the reviews here of students complaining, and what I read through between the lines is that they didn't want to put in the work to finish. I did and I am so glad I chose MaternityWise because I am a better doula and I know more than other doulas who I meet and sometimes work with. I was better prepared and my trainers and my mentor were such great humans and they were MY doulas through this process. This course is not very expensive but what you get is worth millions! and also my life is changed in the process. I am more confident in my life and I owe it to my experience with these women.

This is a wonderful doula training program! I felt prepared after completion and its very clear that the trainers are passionate about what they are teaching. Glad I took the leap!

Firstly, I want to stay respectful above allI know that people get busy & things get pushed to the sideI sent emails asking for help in the month of June but stopped getting responsesI really wanted to finish this up within a yearI was home sick during the times I had interviewed clients over the phone & explained that in the emailThat time had lapsed & I wanted to get it doneI had also explained that the manuals were incomplete because I couldn't find anything explaining what the opinion paper was supposed to consist of (how long should it be, etc.)The binder was bulging & papers were coming out of it, I had to take it apart just to turn the pagesDo you think some things could have gotten lost? All I can do is attach this one email conversation asking for help & explaining what I didJust because you say something is fraudulent does not make it soBesides I specifically remember sending those things on Sept19,Making sure that the evaluations were in thereI had just thought you might look again

This student has not completed the requirements to receive credentials from our organization We've given her a list, and time, and she has failed to submit what was asked In fact, what she HAS submitted included fraudulent documents (filling out evaluations on herself, in place of the
families who would need to evaluate her) and incomplete assignments
If she would like to receive her credentials, we would be happy to help her do that However, we will not refund her She has had possession of the materials for over a year and adequate time, as it is her responsibility to go through the materials, and complete the assignments Just because you pay for a course does not mean you just get the credentials automatically I've explained this to her clearly, and provided guidance, but it does not appear she wants to earn these credentials - it appears she wants them to be awarded to her upon payment rather than MERIT - which we will not do! We realize that our standards are high, but she has not even attempted to meet the requirements She's trying to short-cut her way through and that is not good enough We have provided her with everything we are obligated to, and then some, including allowing her to use a book not on our requirements list in place of a required book She still has a number of items missing If she would like to resubmit her entire credentialing packet, including her missing assignments, we would be happy to re-evaluate

I was alerted today that you've filed a dishonest complaint with the Revdex.com.This isn't the way to get your certifications completed or the credentials you desire There is a checklist of things to submit for certification and you have not completed that list yet You will not be receiving credentials from MaternityWise until we have all your requirements in
In January, you contacted us asking about the status of your credentials I gave you a list of things we were missing We did not hear or receive anything from you until June - at which time, we still had not received anything else new from you
First, you are no longer a member Your membership lapsed and you did not renew at the beginning of the year The fact that we were even evaluating your materials when you were not current on your membership was a courtesy Until that is taken care of, your student status remains inactive
Secondly, the requirements included essays and evaluations along with other assignments You submitted an very incomplete application for credentials I outlined for you what was yet needed, but you have not sent all the parts that were lacking
Here is the list of items you were still missing as of last month:
Opinion Paper on the Role of a Labor Doula
Opinion Paper on the Role of a Postpartum Doula
Evaluations from Mothers and Partners for Labor Doula
Essay Questions for Labor Doula
Since you had sent us Postpartum evaluations that you filled out yourself, about yourself, we will need to speak to each family you would like to use for credentialing purposes Please include phone numbers of both your labor and postpartum doula evaluation families so that we may verify your service to those families and ask any additional questions that the credentialing board feels applicable.
Please complete those items and then we can move forward.
Lastly, you commented in your complaint that you "wasted" money
However, this is in your hands When you make an investment in education, it's important to take it seriously and complete the requirements.This is a tough course, we realize this, and all other students who have taken the course seriously, have truly gone through the materials and completed their requirements have received their credentials It seemed that you were rushing and even when I asked if you had read your manual, you did not reply that you had - which makes me question if you've simply attempted to attain the letters after your name without learning the material MaternityWise holds to a very high standard and not everyone meets those standards, and like in any other educational institution, just because you pay for a class does not mean you meet the teachers requirements to pass
We are happy to work with you and want to see you succeed So far, I think we've given adequate direction on what was/is needed for you to finish Now it's up to you! I look forward to receiving your completed work in the mail soon

This student received the Certification Packet for both Labor and Postpartum Doula Certification The instructions for each is included in the packets, very clearly laid out with steps 1, 2, and so on This student did not submit all the required work We repeatedly sent her a list of items yet to be completed and direction to refer to her Certification Packets (sent as PDFs by email - which she received and was using) Anything that needed clarification, she could ask, and as stated before, we allowed her to use a different book in place of one on our list and attempted to answer every question she had We were very patient and lenient with her
The items she was lacking never were sent and she claims she did not have help, which is untrue Repeating the same direction every time she emailed, at some point, one questions why she just refuses to do the assignments we are telling her she is missing We even called her to discuss her packet initially, because it was SO lacking, one of our office staff assumed more would be on the way, and that she had just sent part separately by email or some other method
We are in the business of helping women become successful doulas We don't just allow students to fall through the cracks and no one "fails" We keep working with students until they complete everything at the level of our standard If ever something gets overlooked, we do our best to make up for it We don't want to see her give up, but we cannot help her further, if she refuses to do the assignments She cannot attain the same certification that other women have, who completed the assignments It really just comes down to that
Example: as in the email (one of many, many going back and forth) she copied in her response, she admits that she filled out the evaluations herself However, they are not for her to fill out It says on the form "To be filled out by Mother/Partner" (as applicable) In addition, she admits that she used the postpartum form for the labor clients as well They are completely different forms We cannot accept postpartum forms in place of the labor forms Many of the evaluation questions as a postpartum doula do not apply to her performance as a labor doula The form simply cannot be used for both, but she insisted that it be so We bent the rules for her initially with the book list Apparently, she expected we would continue to do so with whatever else she didn't want to complete That is the attitude that came across.
She refused also for us to verify her clients Again, this causes us to question her integrity and integrity is of utmost importance as a doula
If she would like to pursue certification, we will be happy to continue to try and work with her to get those assignments done However, until she has her membership renewed and her assignments completed, she will not be able to receive her credentials It is still possible We realize we are a tough program with high standards, but certification is attainable if you will do the work to meet the requirements

This student received all of her materials via email and mail Any nontangibles, she was also offered, such as services and training opportunities This is a nonrefundable course, as described in the purchase agreement, because much of it is provided and consumed online and unlike a book
or other tangible item, cannot be returnedAfter numerous attempts on our part and by her assigned mentor to participate in conference calls and mentoring sessions, she tried to file a complaint through PayPal, to get her money back PayPal deemed that she was in the wrong and was dishonest in her claims, and thereby refused her refund At this time, MaternityWise is under no obligation to refund anything to her

On the day I registered for a class with this company someone called to ask if I intended to take the combo class or the basic doula class because I had selected combo. I told her that was a mistake, I did not want the post partum class. When I realized the date was wrong for me I called and left a message with the same phone number. This company claims they could not reach me by email but yet they called me the day I registered and they had my phone number. Now they refuse to refund $400 and are implying I am unethical. Also, they have quoted a refund policy that I could not find on there busy website. Buyer beware.

I am rejecting this response because:I did not receive the materials that were to be mailed, nor has the owner been in contact with me in regard to how I was to proceed with the emailed material. There has been a severe lack of communication on the Maternity Wise's part. I did file a complaint with PayPal and due to the reason I chose the ruling was in favor of Maternity Wise. I have done distance education in the past and was given complete instructions as to how to proceed through the program and I also had a open line of communication with my instructor. Every question I have posed has remained unanswered. I am dissatisfied with my entire interaction with this Maternity Wise and I am still requesting a full refund.
