I got into a car accident in West LA and called mercury insurance to report the accident and get a tow truck to send me to a mercury approved shop they recommendedThe other drivers tow truck showed up first and took her to a State Farm shopWithin a few minutes the tow truck driver I thought I called had showed upHowever this tow truck driver said he was with State Farm and to take the car to same facility the other car was going to since it was her faultI had never heard of another drivers insurance sending tow trucks, but I regretfully agreed since I was not thinking straight having just been in an accidentI didn't realize at the time but the auto body shop had sent this tow truck to try and get my car to their shop as wellThey prey upon people who are in a emotional state right after an accident to try and get businessWhile I didn't have any work done on the car since it was totaled, they ended up getting paid storage fees by the insurance companyIt didn't cost me any money however the whole thing feels very unethicalI reached out to State Farm and they confirmed they sent tow truckMy tow truck from mercury showed up to no one thereI learned a valuable lesson here and thought it was important to share
