Matrix Nails Reviews (%countItem)

Four of us had appointments for manicures and pedicures. We arrived fifteen minutes early and several employees gathered around us rushing us to choose a color. Multiple employees offered add on services and after I declined they continued to aggressively recommend add on options (it began with gel polish in lieu of standard then progressed to dipping powder over gel polish). During this process my friend *** and I asked the employees to allow us time to look at color options because we felt rushed and we come for relaxation and pampering. I caved and agreed on the first level upgrade from regular polish to gel polish after confirming they had the same color in regular polish for my toes (it was a medium gray color).

I preceded to the manicure chair and put my feet into cold water so I asked the technician to add hot water. My feet soaked for approximately two minutes and the technician returned with two bottles; one was the gray I selected and the other was a beige-ish gray. The technician said one was for my fingers and the other for my toes. I stopped her and stated that I had asked if the color strand I was provided was available to match my fingers and toes and I didn't want them if they don't match. The technician spoke very very little English and turned to the male technician beside us and he told me they aren't exact but are similar so I repeated to him I selected gray after asking if it was available for both sets of nails. My feet were in the water so I couldn't choose another color and the technician offered a Fench finish (white tips with clear base) and I accepted because I couldn't get up to choose another color (the colors were at the front of the shop and we were in the back of the shop). My pedicure began and she let my water out in approximately ten minutes and ready to apply paint when I asked was she not going to scrub my feet like my friend next to me was getting which is typical for every pedicure I've ever received. The technician said she could do callaus removal for $3 and I stated that I'd never gotten a pedicure so rushed or poorly without my feet scrubbed. The technician applied a pea sized amount of liquid on my foot and lightly and barely scraped my feet. She completed the pedicure n a total of approximately twenty minutes which is about half the time a pedicure typically takes and my friends were all given hot towels and extra massage that I didn't receive. The technician hardly spoke with me but spoke to her coworkers in their language but did ask me to move to her nail station. My manicure began better but then she cut my left side middle finger and I moved and complained in pain. The finger was bleeding and hurt and she repeatedly dabbed the cut with a piece of wet cotton which set the cut on fire and she stated "alcohol" as she gestured to the cotton. She painted my nails and I showed her several areas that had uneven/bumpy nails polish, jagged edges, and paint all on my skin around my nails. The technician buffed the worst nail and touched it up. Throughout this process my cut continued to bleed and sting while she painted. I said that I wanted the polish smooth and bubble free many times with my friends having similar issues with their technicians (color mismatched and unsmooth nails). It took only thrity to forty minutes from start to finish. I preceded to the register to pay and was again shocked when I was incorrectly charged $56. The price list depicts a mani/pedi $34 and they had told us gel polish was a $10 add on so I was expecting $44. Another employee and my technician spoke feverishly in their language and the other employee began loudly shouting out pricing to me and they were charging me $34 plus $13 not $10 for gel on my fingernails plus $3 for scrubbing my feet, $3 for French fingernails, and $3 for French toenails which still doesn't total $56. I told her it was more than their published prices while pointing to the price board along with what I was told and shared that two fingers were cut (one stil bleeding) and my foot was hit with the scrubber this rash burning a spot that was red and stinging. She did not explain but more loudly repeated her costs so I caved and handed $60 cash to her and she was placing it into the register and I asked for a receipt and she stated that they "don't count cash sales so only credit cards get a receipt" which led to me asking for my cash back to pay using my credit card. My friends and I stepped outside and my right thumb had a huge bubble so I returned and asked that it be fixed again. The owner Lee spoke in their language and directed my technician to fit it. The technician used a buffer block to buff the top and repainted it with 2 clear coats. When I was walking out with my back to the shop a voice in their language spoke highly/loudly like yellowing and al eyes glared at me while they broke out into laughter leading me to feel very uncomfortable and I was too humiliated to again request them to fix these six nails. I waited for the shop's closing time (8PM) in hopes of speaking with the owner. I learned that Lee is the owner and she is the one that was upset at the register when I questioned the pricing. I told her that six of my nails have bubbles/bumps/waves and were quite messy and unpleasant and asked if I could return tomorrow for her to remove this polish and repaint them (not the manicure just the polish) and she replied that I could come for her to look at them and I repeated that I'd like the polish removed and her to repaint them and explained that I live almost an hour away but I'd make a trip if she'd redo them before our trip (all four of us went to treat ourselves before we fly out Friday morning) and again she said she'd look at them. Lee seemed upset that I was still unhappy but I felt I was just asking for what I overpaid for and she then said, "maybe it's your nailbeds are bad" and I reminded her that I had to be talked into gel polish because I had repeatedly stated that my nails were great and I didn't want to ruin them with harsh chemical processes.

I was so upset on my drive home and when I arrived at home one of my finger cuts was still bleeding and the place on my foot is red and stinging. It was horrible and I am embarrassed to return after being treated badly and feel that they were talking badly about me when I was leaving. It was horrible.
