Good Day [redacted] ,I am writing this letter in response to a complaint with the ID of [redacted] We signed a contract with the homeowner to remove her existing wood deck and replace it with a composite deck along with make a smaller deck below for a grillWe drew plans for the deck and filled out an application for a permit through the township she lives in, The homeowner wanted to use cheaper decking to keep the cost downWe bought approxsq feet of caramel decking which was PVC decking from an overstock companyWe did purchase all that they hadWe made the structure out of pressure treated lumber and used the pvc boards for deckingWhen the structure was up the township came out to inspectAt that time he informed us we could not use powder coated balusters due to someone being able to aid someone else over the gate and into the pool areaI notified the home owner at that time and explained how we had to make changes and use pressure treated balusters close together and 48” tall for the townships approval, I told her I would use the decking as a top rail to tie it all togetherWhen we started the lower deck for the grill the home owner wanted it larger to cover the existing concrete patio that was already thereThat used up more decking than originally plannedWe did have to get more deck boards but was not able to get that color anymore since we purchased all they hadI dropped samples off to her home of decking that I thought was a close match for her to pick what we could use to finishShe picked a color that was [redacted] Cyprus which was triple the price per linear footWe ordered linear feet of it to finish the top rails and set of stepsThe township came out to do a final inspection and we have to change the latch to the gate by the pool and add an extension per the township plus change the railing down the steps to a “graspable hand rail”.The deck is built up to code and has been inspected by the townshipThe structure was built with pressure treated lumber which does dry outI used a nail gun and sometimes the nails don’t sink inI will take a hammer around and tap any nails sticking out inI asked the homeowner to look over things and let me know if she had any concerns and I never heard from herI will complete the job when I can however I cannot pass up other work that I can make a profit on to lose more money on this deck l have invested way more than planned that came out of my pocket and she will continue to refuse payment and wants a refund. Please let me know if I can provide the plans from the township along with the inspection reports of things that needed to change and the amount of money that was spent so far.Thank you very much, Matt M
