Matthew Adam Properties Reviews (2)

Review: Matthew Adam Properties is a co-op real estate company that provides services to real estate owners who need managerial services for their real estate properties that are rented. I am the renter of an apartment owned by [redacted] and which the contract is managed my Matthew Adam Properties. Matthew Adam Properties required me to submit a refundable $500 deposit along with a non refundable $250 deposit to move into the apartment. Along with all other aspects of the contractual agreement, I met and satisfied all conditions including the payment of a refundable $500 deposit. I was explained that the supervisor of the building would do a walk-through after my move-in was completed to ensure that I had not done any damage to the building during move-in. This was completed and the supervisor sent the paperwork to Matthew Adam Properties to process my $500 refund. I have not received this refund and this is this is the reason for my complaint. I have contacted the person directly and left over three four voice mail messages and have had the supervisor of the building send an email on my behalf multiple times asking to process the refund. The move-in was completed on May ** and I have still not received the refund of $500 and Matthew Adam Properties refuses to even return my phone call. I have paperwork that identifies that the $500 is refundable and the building supervisor who has emailed on my behalf to process my refundable deposit. The fact that Matthew Adam Properties won't even return my phone call is unacceptable and contrary to the mission statements posted on the Matthew Adam Properties website.Desired Settlement: $500 check that represents the refundable $500 refudnable deposit I paid upon moving into the apartment

Response:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am in receipt of your letter of concern referenced above

Kindly note that we are in contact with the person who made the complaint and have written a letter to him attaching the original money order for the $500 back on July **, 2013 (see attached)

This matter has been resolved.

Review: Dear Revdex.com,

We are reaching out to you for help, in December 2000, we sent an application to Mattew Adam Properties, Inc to be placed on a waiting list for a 2 bedroom apartment. In the Application it was indicated to send in two payments: a non-refundable processing fee in the amount of $40 and a deposit in the amount of $100. It was stated in the application "Should you wish to have your name removed from the waiting list at a later date, this deposit ($100) will be refunded upon receipt of written request. A stamped, self-addressed envelope must be included with all inquires with waiting lists number listed.

Since 2000, we have sent inquiries in regards to several matters (1) our place in line (2) change of address and (3) numerous requests to please be removed from the waiting list and to have the $100 deposit be refunded.

Our Inquiries as per instructions (and company responses) in chronological order:

- December 2000 - application + two checks were sent as per instructions in order to be placed on the waiting list (on December [redacted], 2000 a letter was received confirming that we are placed on the waiting list and our # is [redacted] and the waiting list is currently up to #**)

- June [redacted], 2007 - inquiry to find out what # the waiting list is up to and also to provide our new mailing address because we have moved (June [redacted], 2007 inquiry returned to our new address stating that we are #[redacted] and the waiting list is currently up to #[redacted])

- August [redacted], 2012 - first request to please return our deposit was sent along (no reply received)

- December [redacted], 2012 - second request to please return our deposit was sent (no reply received)

- April [redacted], 2013 - third request to please return our deposit was sent via certified mail ($3.56) (no reply received, when we checked with the post office they confirmed that mail was delivered at 1:48pm on April [redacted], 2013 in [redacted])

We have also called on numerous occasions leaving messages asking to please give us a call back to discuss why our request has not been returned but have yet to hear back.Desired Settlement: To please receive a refund of our deposit $100 + $10 to cover postage and mailing fees = $110. And in addition I would recommend that this company should be investigated as i'm sure I am not the first person this has happened to.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Good Morning!

I'm writing a follow-up to Complaint #[redacted]; the complaint was closed out by Revdex.com because there was no reply received from Mattew Adam Properties, Inc. in regards to our request to receive a $100 deposit refund.

As our last step, we decided to approach our local Senator [redacted] - 23rd District. Her staff member [redacted] - Community Liaison had contacted the management company once again. To this inquiry/claim, Alex received a reply, and the company asked that we send in proof of our correspondence to them. After the proof was sent (same proof that we had sent to you when we made our inquiry), they confirmed that they have been sold to a different corporation.

This way we did receive our $100 refund check. Please see copy of the check enclosed for your reference. The refund check was sent back in our original self addressed pre-stamped envelope, which was always included with all of our written inquiries. It appears that although our written inquiry was indeed received, they never bothered to reply to any of our 3 letters sent - 8/**/12, 12/**/12, 4/**/13.

In conclusion, it appears that the written inquiries are received, however, apparently, because the name of the management company has changed from Mattew Adam Properties, Inc to METRO MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT INC. they don't feel the need to reply to any inquiries under the name of Mattew Adam Properties, Inc. We are thankful to have received our refund, with the help of Senator [redacted]'s office, and wish to help anyone else in our position. If you have any other claims current or closed for Matthew Adam Properties, Inc…..We urge you to send them to:

METRO MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT INC.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Sincerely,
