Matthew F. Sheehan Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below. The company’s response is very disappointing. I do not understand why they try to settle this issue not by being fully responsible for the product they sold to me but simply by personally insulting me. In the response, it is written: “In reading the many emails from Fr. [redacted], it was very disturbing and shocking that such an email came from a priest.” I do not know which email or phrase it is referring to. The only thing I was asking to them was to show more responsibility for the item they sold, for they had been very slow in responding to my emails and thus had given me an impression that they were not paying attention to my issue. Also, according to the company’s response, “it is obvious that Fr. [redacted] mishandled this chalice in his travel from US to Germany.” On what ground are they making this claim? I put the chalice in a box I bought at the same store, and carefully wrapped that box with air cushion wrap; and, in order to carry it carefully with my own hands, I chose not to put it in checked baggage. And, think about it. The chalice is in a perfectly good shape except for the four missing stones. If the stones had fallen off the chalice because of my mishandling, there would have been other traits of mishandling or damage on the chalice. If they insist that I did not inspect the chalice carefully upon my receiving it, I would not deny it. But – I do not understand why I should repeat this point again and again – it is not relevant to this issue at all. The undeniable fact is that, regardless of whether four stones were initially on their spots, after receiving the chalice, within a week, I found them missing or falling off the chalice, although I had not used it at all. It was securely put in the box all the time. Finally, it is written in the company’s response: “This chalice is an ornate chalice. It is not meant to travel that way it was.” I really wonder what the phrase “that way it was” means here. Does it mean that it is not meant to be internationally shipped? However, they say that the chalice was imported from Italy. Also, if it was not meant to travel that way it was, whatever way it may be, the company should have made it clear to me before selling the chalice.Again, it is very disappointing that the company keeps trying to escape from its due responsibility for its product and thus fails to keep its own words, written in the company's return policy. ("We want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase.")Regards,
[redacted]

We are sending you this letter regarding the chalice purchased for your customer Fr. [redacted] on purchase order #6573. His complaint was that he noticed four stones missing from this chalice which he reviewed upon receipt. As quoted in one of his emails, " Upon receiving, I opened the box and looked at...

it in my room which was dimly lighted. I did not find the stones missing at that time". First of all, if the stones would have become loose from the chalice at that point, he would have noticed at least one of four stones missing as well as the loose stones in the bag/box. He did not...and furthermore, we inspect here before we shipped it. So after he received the chalice on 6/29, he then traveled from Missouri to Germany with this chalice. In Germany on July 9, he sends you an email stating that there are now four stones missing on the chalice(which he carefully hand carried to Germany). Clearly he was not careful enough. It is abvious that Fr. [redacted] mishandled this chalice in his travels from the Us to Germany. We are certain it was not done intentially, but clearly the fault is his own. This chalice is an ornate chalice. It is not meant to travel the way it was. We had forward the photo and emails to our European Vender and he noted the same things. In reading the many emails from Fr. [redacted], it was very disturbing and shocking that such an email came from a priest. Nevertheless, we would like to send you the four replacement stones at no charge and you can have a local jeweler glue them back in, or you can send the chalice back to us and we will do it for you at no charge. The other option was our vendor had offered to replace it at no charge if we ship it back to them in Italy. However, the freight charges to and from Italy would be at your expense. I am still waiting for the vendor to confirm back that the replacement offer is still an option. ( They may be on holiday shutdown) and what the freight charges would be to ship it back. If we were to it to Italy via DHL, the shipping charges would be estimated at 100.00 to 145.00. Then the shipping back to us would be another expense. If the Revdex.com would like to call or email us directly and review this, we would be happy to help you in any way. We stand behind our product and behind Matthew F. Sheehan Company. I hope this information is helpful and gets resolution soon.

To Whom It May Concern, We have been in business since 1907 and served thousands of our customers with the utmost care and understanding. Please take under consideration the following: Our customer did not read our Return Policy prior to placing an order. It clearly states that customers...

will be responsible for return of the merchandise and also the return may be subjected to a restocking fee - please see link to our Return Policy below:http://www.matthewfsheehan.net/return-policyMatthew F. Sheehan Company tried to help our customer by limiting return shipping cost from 2 warehouses and asked our customer to return all the merchandise to 1 warehouse only instead (which clearly is omitted from the complaint by our customer). The reason that restocking fee that is being charge to our customer is to recover partial expenses that will have to pay to our warehouse (15% restocking fee). I told our customer that I will only charge her $15.00 (our cost so far is $21.00 shipping, plus $15.29 restocking fee) and we'll absorb the difference. Best Regards, [redacted] Matthew F. Sheehan Company

To Whom It May Concern, See email below that was sent to our customer explaining the situation. As noted in the email below, the price of the statue has doubled in cost without any notice to us. The amount that our customer paid did not cover the cost of the statue, plus the shipping...

charge in addition (approximately  $300.00). Originally, we asked our customer to pay the additional amount, however after his explanation that the money was raised by his son for a project we dropped the charge to $500.00 to help him out. We are a small company trying to service our customers and provide them with high quality products at reasonable prices and free shipping. Our profit margin is minimal and for us to ship the statue at the cost paid by our customer is just not possible. Since then our customer has full credit for the order placed. Our website states "Prices Subject to Change without notice". I hope this explanation is satisfactory. Best Regards, Matthew F. Sheehan Co., Inc.[redacted] From: Matthew F. Sheehan Company <[email protected]>To: [redacted] Cc: [redacted] Sent: Monday, August 17, 2015 3:26 PMSubject: Re: Order #[redacted]Hello  [redacted],This email is in regards to your order for Our Lady of Guadalupe with Sunburst that you placed on our website www.matthewfsheehan.net. The statue was ordered and will ship directly from the manufacturer, we had the price on our website $950.00 and free shipping. When we called to find out when your order will ship we were notified that the cost of the statue more then doubled, we had no idea that they had price increase and they are unwilling to do any adjustments. I’m writing to you with hope that you will take under consideration our situation and to consider paying an additional amount of $900 just to cover the cost and shipping. I understand if you will need to cancel this order, since we can’t afford to ship it for that amount. Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience and advice how would you like to proceed. Thank you, [redacted]  Matthew F.
