On Sept10, my husband and I went shopping for an adjustable bed and found ourselves at the Mattress Direct store in Gulfport MSWe were in need of a bed because I am recovering from open heart surgery (performed on Aug12, 2013)I was having a problem sleeping flat and was sleeping in a reclining chairWe found the salesman *** to be very knowledgeable and we placed an order for a floor stock mattress from another storeAfter we went home we changed our mind and decided to contact the store to cancel the order and told them we would return to purchase new because of the warranties we would get with new vs floor stock, and with my current health we could not take the change of not being satisfiedComfort was at the top of our list in my conditionWe returned to the store and purchased new for a total of $with a delivery date of Sept 17, Deliver was on time, I had an appointment and my husband was there to receive the new mattress setDuring the delivery my husband said that he would love one of these adjustable beds and one of the delivery persons offered to purchase one for him on his manager employee discountSomehow there was an agreed price of $He advised my husband that he would be in touch as to the delivery dateOn Sept 21, he contacted my husband and said that he could get the mattress set but need to pay for it so he came over got the money, signed a receipt and said delivery would be Sept 22, The morning of Sept 22, he called and said he couldn't get the bed and would be over that evening to return his money, he was a no showThe next day my husband went to the Gulfport MS store to report what happened and the store informed *** *** *** contacted my husband talked to him about what happened and had me email him the detailsSometime later we found out that the employee driver and helper were fired*** *** washed his hands of our loss and did not take any responsibilityOn Sept 23, I went to the Gulfport MS store requesting an exchange of the mattress *** wrote up the paperwork and advised that he would be in touch on the exchange dateWhen I didn't hear from *** I called and he said that I had to wait the day before I could exchange the mattress and that was per *** ***If that was the case why didn't *** an experienced salesman tell me that, no he didn't *** *** had toI waited the day trying to adjust to the mattress with no luckI returned to the store on Oct 12, and the paperwork was written up for the exchange, I waited for an exchange date, no call I called the store and was informed that I could not exchange due to mattress was a lower cost the original one, $vs $If I had not called no one wasI returned to the store to try and find a mattress of equal or greater value that was comfortable to me and could notAt this time *** *** and *** were in Mexico at the event above and *** was in chargeI asked if my exchange was a problem why didn't the sales person *** and *** make note of that and he said there were training issuesBoth salespersons told me that there have been many exchanges for less than original item but customers were not give a refundThat is another issue, but I was willing to lose $plus pay the restocking fee of $to get what I needed*** would not approve I had to wait until *** *** returned and reviewed the issueIt took *** *** a week to approve my exchange and another week for Baton Rouge to enter the order after I call the store and they called themAnd on Nov 5, my exchange was madeSo I requested an exchange on Oct 12, and Nov 5, it finally happenedFor a customer that purchased a $adjustable bed and lost another $to one of their employees, I feel this was the worst decision in my lifeIf I had not been in a weaken state recovering from open heart surgery I would have listened to details better and not purchased from Mattress DirectMy husband and I later went around to the other stores in the area and their store policy was very fair to the customerMattress Direct owner *** *** had no respect for my health, our financial loss, or the additional stress he placed on my heart in an already weaken stateDuring this ordeal I wanted to stand outside the store stopping all future customers from ever dealing with this company*** *** has good knowledgeable salespeople but he has his hand in every decision and in my case and I feel it was because an employee stole from a customerAs for the employee that stole from my husband that is a matter that is criminal and will be dealt withI am so glad I found this site this is only the beginning, I will be posting other sites

We went to Mattress Direct to buy a cheap mattress because we had purchased an expensive one elsewhere and didn't decide we didn't like it until after the warranty period That was not the other mattress company's fault, it was ours for waiting too long to decide we didn't like the expensive mattress We went to Mattress Direct and said we wanted to buy a cheaper, less firm mattress The sales person was very good at sales and persuaded us to buy another expensive mattress Knowing that we came into buy a cheaper mattress, he assured us that we could return the mattress if we tried it and did not like it What he did NOT tell us was that we would only get store credit for the return! We instantly did not like the mattress and when we called within the week to request a return, he told us we could only get store credit and that we could only make one exchange of the mattress If the next exchange was not successful, then we were stuck with no return options at all We complained that he had assured us we could return with no strings attached he then pointed to a small notation at the bottom of the receipt which was never brought to our attention We did not know to look for it because he had assured us we could return without warning us that it was for store credit only Our appeals of the situation did not good We would NEVER buy from Mattress Direct again
