Matt's Motors Reviews (1)

Review: In early July, 2014 I took my vehicle to [redacted]'s Motors in Butler, Wisconsin to have a check engine light diagnosed and repaired. In a prompt fashion [redacted], the owner, called me back to say the [redacted]er required him to replace three separate sensors to solve the 4 different codes the car's computer provided. In mid-June I had checked the computer myself and identified those same 4 codes as the issue though I had no knowledge of specific causes of the codes. After being charged over $1,000 for the repair (parts, labor, shop supplies), the vehicle was returned to me. Within 15 miles of driving it the check engine light came back on. A check of the computer showed two of the codes remained. Subsequently, I returned the vehicle twice to have the problem fixed. Each time, the check engine light came on. In mid-July I took the vehicle to another mechanic who said the two remaining codes had been misdiagnosed, the expensive sensor that had been replaced by [redacted] was not the problem. He promptly fixed the vehicle and when it returned to me, the check engine light stayed off for miles of driving. When I took my invoices from both [redacted] Motor's and the other mechanic back to [redacted] to ask him refund me for the misdiagnosis and the expensive mass air flow sensor that was not the problem, he told me he couldn't provide me with evidence, but he was sure that he made the right call and the problem was a fluke.Desired Settlement: Since I hired Matt's Motors to fix the check engine light and paid them over $1,000 to do so and was assured that the problem was fixed multiple times when, in fact, it was not. And since I had to find another mechanic to properly diagnose the problem and fix it, and since that mechanic confirmed that the two codes [redacted] alleged pertained to the air flow sensor did not - according to his extensive testing - pertain to a problem there, I would like a full refund of my money for the diagnosis and parts and labor from Matt's Motors on the mass airflow sensor for a 1999 BMW 3-series.
