March 16, 2017I would like to begin by stating that have been in business in Bridgeport, Pa for over yearsI am a small, family-owned business owner who prides himself on running an honest business100% of my customers are by word of mouth through current customers or business associatesI am offended wholeheartedly by this complaint and assure you that I took the best care of [redacted] and her vehicle as was able to do.When [redacted] initially brought her vehicle in, I clearly advised her to take the money from the insurance company, who considered her car a total loss, and to buy a new vehicleIt was my opinion that it was not worth fixingI even told her boyfriend the same thing when he came into the shop. All insurance adjusters and body shop owners initially inspect vehicles for damagesThey evaluate and come up with a cost to repair based on that inspectionWhen the vehicle gets taken apart, more often than not, there is more damage that is uncovered, and a supplement estimate is written and paidThe estimate will change probably 80% of the time in all cases because of thisI made it very clear to [redacted] that this could happen, and it did.The cost of my repairs total $for the work that was completed at Matus Brothers Auto Body or her [redacted] Claim # [redacted] My original estimate was $ 2,When the vehicle was taken apart, there was an additional amount of $428.87, I have received a check from the insurance company, signed over by her, in the amount of $2,(check # [redacted] )She owes me a balance of $to be free and clear of the debt from her accidentHer vehicle is currently at my shop waiting to be picked up, as it was finished almost two weeks agoThe additional costs [redacted] is, I believe, referring to, are the ones I recommend she complete in order to obtain a current inspectionI gave her this information only as a courtesy.I stand by my work, my word and my reputationI would be happy to give you names of thousands of customers have served over the years who will vouch for not only the quality of my work, but my integrity as well.Sincerely, Brian M

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: There are too many discrepancies in the billsI dont know where to beginThis is the original estimate I was given for the amount of $on January 18, Brian M [redacted] has now produced a completely different estimate today March 20,which totaled $2, HOW IS THIS ESTIMATE JUST NOW CONCOCTED??? This is extremely deceptive Attached is a copy of the monies paid to Matus in the amount of $2,it was never invoiced on any document until now I understand that Matus Brothers is a auto body shop and NOT a mechanic The work was done through a subcontractor as he claimsthere is no rational explanation as to why the estimates and part prices, labor hours and fees are ENTIRELY DIFFERENTI understand estimates go up but surely not doubledI did trust this person when I gave him $2,but I was left in the dark and now feel further victimized because of the completely confusing documents he is creating ever since I filed this complaint Regards, [redacted]

April 9, 2017I understand that this business and dealing with insurance companies can be confusingThe estimate dated 1/18/for $ 1,was actually a rough supplement given to [redacted] by Matus Brothers for additional damages to the car, deeming it a total loss [redacted] returned on 1/20/and added $ 1,in addition to the damages found by Matus Brothers Auto Body, confirming the total loss of the vehicleThis brought the total damages to the car to $ 3,Soon after, [redacted] was notified by both [redacted] and Matus Brother Auto Body that the car was a total loss and not worth purchasing the salvage back. She insisted after many conversations with both parties that she wanted to fix her vehicleWhen she decided against my expert opinion, to fix the car, I wrote her an estimate on 1/31/for $ 2,This was an estimate given to her to begin her repairs, again making it clear there was potential for further damagesShe accepted the estimate, gave me the deposit check of $ 2,and asked me to begin the repairsAn additional cost of $ was needed after tear down in order to complete the repair of her vehicle. She was warned that the number to fix her vehicle was not established as there were many variables with her car, as there are with every vehicle fixed by every body shop that existsIt is the nature of the business and one we made crystal clear to her from the start. We would like to get this resolved as quickly as possible, for both of our best interests.Sincerely,Brian M

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
There are too many discrepancies in the bills. I dont know where to begin. This is the original estimate I was given for the amount of $1637.74 on January 18,2017.  Brian M[redacted] has now produced a completely different estimate today March 20,2017 which totaled $2,595.89.  HOW IS THIS ESTIMATE JUST NOW CONCOCTED??? This is extremely deceptive.  Attached is a copy of the monies paid to Matus in the amount of $2,190.18. it was never invoiced on any document until now.  I understand that Matus Brothers is a auto body shop and NOT a mechanic.  The work was done through a subcontractor as he claims. there is no rational explanation as to why the estimates and part prices, labor hours and fees are ENTIRELY DIFFERENT. I understand estimates go up but surely not doubled. I did trust this person when I gave him $2,190.18 but I was left in the dark and now feel further victimized because of the completely confusing documents he is creating ever since I filed this complaint.

April 9, 2017I understand that this business and dealing with insurance companies can be confusing. The estimate dated 1/18/17 for $ 1,637.74 was actually a rough supplement given to [redacted] by Matus Brothers for additional damages to the car, deeming it a total loss. [redacted] returned on 1/20/17 and added $ 1,186.00 in addition to the damages found by Matus Brothers Auto Body, confirming the total loss of the vehicle. This brought the total damages to the car to $ 3,876.85. Soon after, [redacted] was notified by both [redacted] and Matus Brother Auto Body that the car was a total loss and not worth purchasing the salvage back. She insisted after many conversations with both parties that she wanted to fix her vehicle. When she decided against my expert opinion, to fix the car, I wrote her an estimate on 1/31/17 for $ 2,595.89. This was an estimate given to her to begin her repairs, again making it clear there was potential for further damages. She accepted the estimate, gave me the deposit check of $ 2,190.18 and asked me to begin the repairs. An additional cost of $ 428.87 was needed after tear down in order to complete the repair of her vehicle. She was warned that the number to fix her vehicle was not established as there were many variables with her car, as there are with every vehicle fixed by every body shop that exists. It is the nature of the business and one we made crystal clear to her from the start. We would like to get this resolved as quickly as possible, for both of our best interests.Sincerely,Brian M.
