August 5, 2016Subject:  [redacted] – “Revdex.com”ID  #[redacted]Good afternoon “Revdex.com”, [redacted], and [redacted],On 7/15/16 we were called out by RPM to repair an air conditioner for a new move in.  Upon arrival, we found the blower motor in the air handler to be...

locked up with bad bearings. With approval from [redacted], we installed a new motor and checked the system.  It was around 100 degrees inside the home at the time. It was getting a 20 degree temperature split across the evaporator and was cooling as designed.  The freon pressures were in proper range and motor amp draws were good. Two weeks later, we were called out and found the system to be frozen up. This is caused by low air flow and / or low freon pressure in low load conditions.  There are also other factors, like how low the temperature on the thermostat is set at and what style filter is being used. Some filters are already very restrictive when new. We defrosted the coil and leak checked with an electronic leak detector. We did find the coil to be leaking.  There is no replacement evaporator coil due to brand and age.I called [redacted] to explain and offer to either:*Charge with freon and install a leak sealer.or *Change out the air handler. I explained that if we changed out the air handler I would charge it with freon at no extra cost to keep his tenant cool until we could install it.   Also, credit back the cost of the motor repair since it would not be needed. He said he needed to contact RPM and would get back to me.  He later called and declined repair. His concern was that we had told him the freon charge was full.  The pressures were in proper range at the time of our first call based on the temperatures inside and outside the house.  Pressures can change with different temperatures but the unit was getting a 20 degree temperature split as designed and we didn’t hear any complaints for 2 weeks. Also: The new air handler would be able to be used with the new R410A Freon.I would be happy to put his bad motor back in and refund his entire bill to clear this up or provide the repair as offered.I am sending a copy of the original invoice and a picture of his old motor. We are here to help, please let me know what I can do.Thank you, John M[redacted]  ###-###-####

Re-installing a "bad motor" is not an acceptable solution. I believe my motor was fine and am under no assurance that I would get my original working motor back. But I do want a refund for the unnecessary motor.
Again, the freon was not tested. If it had been tested, the low levels would have been apparent as I have had to fill the unit with freon in the past. "Pressures" may have been tested - but I specifically asked if the freon level was tested and was assured that the unit was not low on freon. That is simply not accurate as the unit does have a leak and needs to get filled yearly.
Also, I was not offered a full refund of the motor cost if I bought a $1900 handler... I was offered a partial refund of $200 ($1700 for the $1900 handler)

They've done annual service on my central air and furnace last year. Today, on a Saturday when they are closed, they picked up my phone message and came very quickly to fix my air conditioner. Temp is suppose to be 102 degrees today. It's already nearing 86 nside my mobile home and it's only 10am. I am so thankful to Maville Mechanical. Anthony has been the repair tech every time. He really knows his stuff. Thank you!

I understand your concerns and would like to refund your total bill of $388.00 as you have requested. Please let us know where to mail your check or if you would like it mailed to RPM West Valley your management company.

Respectfully,
