Mavroff The Mulch Man

This is a mixed review. For a number of years, I bought mulch from them and everything was fine. This year, we moved and I contacted them for mulch. I provided them the square footage and in turn, they provided me an estimate on how much I'd need. Their estimate was about 4 yards short, so contacted them today for a second order. They explained that they would not take into consideration the order delivered two days ago, any accountability of their estimate, nor my previous business (equaling a few thousand dollars). As a result, the mulch would be 25% more expensive and would have a deliver charge on top of it. For me, it's the principle that if they are willing to lose a longtime customer over $75, I'll take my business elsewhere. They are solely driven by the bottom line as opposed to being focused on customer service.

Review: Was quoted a price of $40 per yard of mulch over the phone. Was charged $44 per yard and did not catch it until I received the copy of the receipt on delivery. Called to resolve and was told that it was my problem for not catching the overcharge while I was on the phone ordering the delivery of the mulch. They acted like it is ok to charge a new per yard price randomly. Would just like the $4 per yard overcharge credited back to me. Based on discussions and inconsistencies of answers I am worried that others might be getting ripped off in the same way without knowing it.Desired Settlement: Company apologizes for accusing me that it is my fault this occurred and credits me back the overcharge.

They are offering a gift certificate to cover the overcharge - that does not do me any good because there is no way I would ever order anything from them again in the future and the nature of what they sell does not get me much of anything anyhow. If they were to give me a refund of the amount in dispute that would be great - but I am really very concerned that they are out there ripping off others that might not be aware of it. Not sure why a company would not address the issue immediately since they basically admitted that they charged the wrong amount. Seems like it would be easier to just credit the overage back to the customer. Still discontent with this company.

I have done business with Mavroff for several years now. I am in the landscape, property maintenance business and have made many purchases with them in the past. On May 3rd we had purchased 2 yards of mulch for a small job that we were doing not to far from their location. When my employee returned with the mulch and the receipt, we had noticed that they had charged us significantly more than they had the previous year. This was the first time we had used them in 2016 and the price per yard was $29/yard the year before and we were just charged $35, for a total of $70 for the 2 yards we just picked up. I then called and spoke to the woman who works in the office and told her what had happened, she confirmed and said that this is the correct price. I said I was shocked and that you guys are $6-$7 more per yard than everyone else in the area. I then told her that if this is the case I will have to purchase my mulch somewhere else because the price is to high. I never raised my voice or anything, we ended our conversation pleasant on both sides.
The following morning May 4th, I contacted them at 7A.M and the same lady answered the phone. I stated that we spoke the day before about the mulch and that I looked up my previous charges from last year and that I indeed was paying $29/yd and not $35, and I said this cant be right. I never raised my voice, swore or anything. She then went on a screaming tirade, with un pleasantries, and extreme vulgarity. Told me yes she did screw up, that I can go somewhere exploitative, take my business somewhere because I had said that the previous day, we don't need your business, etc... etc. Went on for about 30 seconds screaming at me and cussing me out without me even being able to say a word, ended it with go [redacted] and hung up on me. I could not believe what just happened. I never raised my voice, swore, or did anything to deserve such a response. All I was going to ask was for was a refund of the money owed to me or a credit to be used as I was planning to be buying a lot of mulch from them as I have lots of work coming up involving mulch. Had I provoked or acted in a way to do deserve such treatment, I wouldn't be contacting you, but I know for fact that I 100% did not deserve anything that had happened. I am a business owner and fellow Revdex.com member and I could never imagine talking or treating anyone with such disgusting behavior. I am quite shocked still that this happened and to find out that they are a fellow Revdex.com member. I am beyond at a loss for words as to how and what transpired.
