I have had an auto loan, financed through Max Credit Union, since February of The loan was originated by the auto dealershipI have never had a late payment during the life of the loanOn the 15th October I received a late notice from Max saying that I needed to make my September payment and that a late fee had been charged to me for the late paymentI thinking, wow, how could I have missed this payment; so I pulled up my bank account and there it was: the payment to Max is due on the 25th of each month and I had made the payment through Bill Pay at my Bank on the 21st of September and the transaction cleared my checking account on the 22nd of SeptemberI did learn through this that Max doesn't accept electronic payment so a , ACH check has to be issued and mailed to Max from my bankFortunately, until now it has been of no consequence that has not been an issue because I also learned through this issue that my payment is due on the 25th but is not considered late for days past that dateSo, I called Max thinking, well it is just an error on Max's behalf and we will clear it up in just a few moments I was told that Max didn't receive the check from my bank until the 11th of October and credited to my account on the 12th making it a late payment and that the late fee would be assessed on the next paymentI then explained how I had made the payment and I was told about the ACH check and that Max couldn't control the US mail and that if I wanted to make sure I wasn't late on future payments, I should look for an alternative method of making my paymentI explained again that I had proof from my bank that the payment was made on time, and again I was told that Max didn't receive the payment until the 11th of October and that is the date they perceive the payment as being made and that the fact that I initiated the payment on the 21st from my bank and cleared my account o the 22nd, was irrelevant and hung up on meFri.23rd I carried the Proof Of Payment certificate to the main branch of Max in Montgomery Alabama and was not allowed to see the person I had talked with on the phoneI was told she worked in the call center and handled everything by phone and I would have to relay everything through the lady on the floorNow the lady I had been on the phone with was actually the Supervisor of the person that initially answered the call as I had asked to speak to her SupervisorShe is the one that ended the call with meSo with no path left to pursue I left the certificate of POP with the floor lady and went back home to await my Banks final investigation of the paymentYesterday, 10/27/my bank made a follow up call to initiate a way call between myself , my bank , and Max credit unionAfter all the security my bank repasked about fees and was my account normally in good standing and the Max repreplied that it was and said also that the fee would stand and that Max Does Not remove/waive late feesMy bank rep explained their investigation results and that the payment was processed properly and should not have been late as Max states it is and that they (my bank) would pay any fees as a courtesy to meWe of course I was not satisfied at all with this conversation because I am still in Max credit unions' view :late on my payment for Septand I asked was it possible that Max made a mistake and was again told they do not make mistakes but then said that anyone could make a mistake but that was not the case here because Max credit union could not control the US MailI in turn stated that we are talking about a day mail delivery and that I could have walked with the check to Montgomery and made faster than days and asked don't you agree that it is a little strangeThen I said well how do I get this resolved and I was told then , with my bank replistening that the fee had been waived on the 12th of October after I made the trip to the Montgomery branchSo I said " Mam, you just told me and this bank repthat Max does not remove late fees At this point the conversation was just about over and I realized I was about to be disconnected and in fact my Bank repinformed me that Max had terminated the callShe to expressed concern with the facts about Max's late fee policy and we ended our call pleasantlyI then began to ponder that if Max as a late fee in the manner they did me and the person knew they made the payment and call and the bank says we finally got the payment, then the majority would just move on and forget about he incidentHowever, I question that if they did this to customers at each that is a nice little influx of fee acquisitionBeware when dealing with these people because their customer service practice leaves a lot to be DESIREDWhat you will get is HypertensionDon't know how many customers have been treated this way or if it is me but what ever it is : It is not customer Service!
