Dear [redacted],
I am writing this letter in response to complaint #[redacted]. A call was received by Andrew, a front desk employee, in May of 2015 from the Complainant asking to cancel her membership. He explained our policy on how to cancel a membership; clearly...

stated in the contract (Member Privileges, Notices, Disclosures and Agreement: Section 2; Item #4 & Notice of Consumer Rights; Paragraph 1; Item #7) it must be a written request either in person at the gym; or by written and mailed request. Mailed requests are strongly suggested to be by certified mail in order to provide accountability of both delivery and receipt. (Please note that Andrew began working here in March of 2015. We do not have a Christy that has worked our front desk.) She stated at that time she would not come in to cancel. The next time she contacted the gym was on 6/9/2015, I personally spoke with the Complainant. She stated she had sent in numerous letters. I asked if she could provide me with the delivery receipt for a certified letter because we had not received a letter from her at that time. She told me she would call me back. Today, 6/12/2015, we received a certified letter stating she wanted her membership cancelled. We have cancelled her membership, as well as the person she added on to her account in Nov. 2011, of which the combined fees are $39.90 per month or $19.95 per member. The cancellation will be effective 6/30/2015.The only other contact we have had with complainant is when she updated her credit card information with us to pay her monthly membership bill. She updated her card information with us two times during/after she stated she had talked to someone about canceling. She last updated her credit card information for billing on 10/27/2014. This would be a more than a full year after she stated she tried to end her gym membership. This is the credit card that is still on file and has been billed monthly. As the complainant has now given the appropriate request to cancel, there will be no more charges to her account.Regards,Rachel P
