This situation is unfortunate. When a person has a problem with a product they buy, they go back to the place they purchased it. You wouldn't buy a mower from [redacted], have it break a week later,  and then take it to [redacted] to have it fixed and then ask [redacted] to pay for the repair. You would take the mower back to [redacted] You wouldn't have copies made at [redacted], take it home and find out it was done wrong, and then go to [redacted] to re-do it and ask [redacted] to pay for it. You would go back to [redacted] to have it re-done.You did not discuss your situation with us before going to your seamstress and we can understand the reasons but it is still pretty much standard procedure to go back to the place you bought the product. We don't know if you have a bad problem or not since you have not come back to the store to discuss the situation with a seamstress or the owner. We would have been happy to talk to you.Knowing what we know, which is limited since we have not seen the gown on you, we don't think this is something we couldn't handle at a very reasonable cost. We take in gowns all the time -- this is what some of our seamstresses have done for almost their entire life. If you go to a seamstress that have less experience, there is nothing to prevent them from overcharging you and blaming it all on us.  It is completely unfair to us or any other store for that matter. We certainly apologize if one of our employees told you it would be $500 to work on your dress but please understand that it wasn't in writing and wasn't a seamstress and should have been considered a guesstimate. We aren't sure why you would go to a seamstress that quoted even more at $700. We are not sure what we can do at this point since the gown is being worked on by someone else and we cannot take responsibility for that seamstress' work. We would like to see the gown on you and perhaps we can finish the work for a reduced fee. We would need to know in the next few days so that we can make sure there is enough time to do whatever work is necessary.

Review: I bought my wedding dress for almost a thousand dollars at MB Bride. I went in found my dress and the woman took my measurements and told me I needed a size 24 dress. Although my mom was present with me and we both said its big on me and the woman said with your measurements if you go smaller you will have to add material and that is costly. They ordered my dress and called me when it came in to try on. I went in to try it on and it is waaaay to big on me. I have heard rumors before about how they order you a big size so you have to pay ridiculous prices for the alterations. The dress will not even remotely stay on me. I have to hold it on and I went to a seamstress yesterday and she told me along with a few other seamstresses that my dress will have to be completely reconstructed. Shes going to have to take beading off just to be able to take it in the amount she will have to. They ordered me a size 24 and the seamstress told me that I am MAYBE an 18. These alterations (which I got quotes from different people) with all the work this woman will have to do is going to cost me around $600.00. I thought the point of going in and getting measured was so they could order you the correct size. There is no way that ordering me a dress that is 6 to 7 sizes too big was necessary. Being a bride who doesnt come from a rich family and who my fiance and I are paying for this entire wedding there was just no room for this blow in our finances. I am not saying that my dress wouldnt of needed alterated regardless but I know that it should not be anywhere NEAR $600.00. My wedding is in less than 3 months and I have to hope that they can fix this issue because there is no time for me to order this same dress in a smaller size and it be here and fixed before the wedding. Worst experience and stessful experience.Desired Settlement: I want MB bride to pay half of my alterations cost for what they have done. It is ashame to take advantage of people like that.

Response:

As the owner I can understand your frustration. We are one of the few bridal stores to offer an alterations package price to avoid problems just like the one you are having with your seamstress. If you had gone with our package ($249.99 for that particular gown) that is the most you would have paid in order to get the dress to fit you regardless of whether it was mis-measured or not. You did not mention in your complaint write up that you did actually lose weight, which, if you lost a lot (meaning several sizes), would void the package price because that would involve substantial work and cost. In any case, if, as you said after talking with you earlier that you lost about 10 pounds we can still offer to do the alterations for $249 and save you quite a bit of money over what your current seamstress wants to charge you. Since your wedding is nearing, please let us know by the end of this month (July) so that we can fit you into our alterations schedule.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I told Jen the store manager that I lost weight. The seamstress I am seeing now has told me I am maybe a 16-18. Losing 10 pounds did not make me magically go from a 24 to an 18 in this amount of time. As I voiced before anyone I took this dress to told me the amount of work on this dress will be expensive because of how big it is on me. I do not want to be told I need to bacially hurry up so I can be ''fit into your schedule'' My dress needs somebody who will take their time and make sure it is done right. I have heard from several brides about this same situation. You just said if the dress needs alot of work it voids the 249.00. Well I am telling you my dress needs alot of work. The seamstress has already taken beading off of the dress and has kept me informed every step of the way. I have been taken advantage of from MB bride durring what is supposed to be the happiest time in my life and all I have done is stress. I want MB bride to pay the 249.00 towards my dress alterations. I will do whatever step next I need to do just to prove a point that they cannot keep doing this people. They are not sorry and havent even remotely acted as though they care. All they are caring about is their buisness looking bad. THEIR EMPLOYEE told me my alterations will cost around 500 dollars which is the only reason I went elsewhere. Had someone said 249.00 I would of stayed but they simply did NOT. With 2 months before my wedding there is no reason on this earth why I would want to stress myself looking for another seamstress if MB bride's employees were informed of the correct pricing this would of never happend. I was mis-informed and now im basically being told that I am lying about weight loss and that they can ''fit me into their schedule'' I will not take my dress in there and I will not step foot in MB bride again and will warn anybody I hear even THINKING of going there. Mb bride needs to make this right and stop blaming the bride.

Review: I PURCHACE A BRIDE MAID DRESS FOR A WEDDING , WHEN BEING SIZED FOR THE DRESS I ASKED THE GIRL FOR EXTRA LENGTH , SHE INFORMED ME THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO NEED EXTRA LENGTH I TOLD HER I WANTED EXTRA LENGTH , AND WE HAD DECIDED THAT MY DRESS WAS TO BE A DIFFERENT COLOR THAN THE OTHER GIRLS AND SHE SAID OK SHE HAD THAT MARKED DOWN AFTER BEING MEISURED AND EVERYONE WAS READY TO GET CHECKED OUT SHE NEVER WENT OVER THE CONTACT WITH ME TO DISCUSE ANYTHING SHE JUST GAVE ME A PRICE IF I WOULD PAY IT IN FULL TODAY AND THEN A PRICE IF I JUST PAID A % TO GET THE DRESS ORDERED AND I JUST PAID THE DRESS IN FULL THAT DAY . WHEN THE DRESSES CAME IN THE BRIDE WENT DOWN AND PICKED THE DRESSES UP AND WHEN I PICKED THE DRESS UP OFF THE BRIDE THE DRESS WAS A DIFFERENT COLOR , SO BETWEEN THE BRIDE AND MYSELF WE JUST DESCIDED TO KEEP THE DRESS THE SAME COLOR AS THE REST OF THE GIRLS , WHEN SHE TOOK THE DRESS HOME I PICKED UP THE DRESS LATER THAT DAY AND WHEN I TRIED ON THE DRESS IT WAS TOO SHORT AND I COULD NOT ZIPPER IT , WE CALLED THE DRESS SHOP AND EXPLAINED THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED BECAUSE ONE OF THE OTHER GIRLS IN THE WEDDING DID NOT FIT ALSO , THE OWNER TOLD US TO COME DOWN SO WE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO TO TWO OF THE DRESSES . WHEN WE ARRIVED WE TRIED ON THE DRESSES AND THEN THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE THE DRESS OUT ON MINE AND ADD LENGTH AND THEN SHE WAS GOING TO ADD LENGTH TO THE OTHER DRESS THAT WAS MESSED UP , WHEN WE WENT BACK DOWN ON THE 28TH , MY DRESS DID NOT FIT STILL THEY HAD TO TAKE THE SIDES IN AND MY DRESS WAS TO SHORT STILL , THE SEAMSTRESS ASKED ME TO GET A DIFFERENT PAIR OF SHOES AND I TOLD HER IT TOOK ME SEVERAL STORES TO FIND THESE SHOES AND WHEN WE SPOKE TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS I TOLD THEM I WAS GETTING A SHOE WITH A 2 INCH HEEL SO I INFORMED HER THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO BUY A NEW PAIR OF SHOES AGAIN TO MAKE THEIR LIFE EASIER ,SO THE SEAMSTRESS SAID SHE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE THE DRESS APART AND ADD 2 INCHS WHEN THE FRONT OF THE DRESS IS 1 1/2 SHORT AND 2 1/2 IN THE BACK I CALLED ON TUESDAY TO SPEAK WITH THE OWER AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS THEY SAID THE OWNER WAS IN ONLY FOR A MIN AND THEN LEFT AND THEN THEY CONNECTED ME TO THE MANAGER OF THE SEAMSTRESS DEP AND WE HAD DEALT WITH HER ON MONDAY AND WE GOT NOWHERE , THE OWENR CALLED ME TODAY AND ALL SHE SAID WAS WE ARE DOING YOUR ALERERATIONS FOR FREE AND I SAID IF YOU WOULD OF ORDERED ME THE RIGHT SIZED OF DRESS AND ADDED THE EXTRA LENGTH THEN I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO COME BACK DOWN HER TO GET MY DRESS ALTERED . AND I SAID IF I NEEDED THE DRESS ALTERED I HAD A FRIEND THAT WAS GOING TO DO IT FOR FREE . I HAVE MISSED TIME FROM WORK AND HAD TO MAKE ARANGEMENTS FOR MY KIDS TO KEEP COMING DOWN TO THIS SHOP . THE OWENER OF THE COMPANY IS BLAMING US AND THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE DRESS FOR THEIR MISTAKE AND WE ARE NOT THE ONES THAT TOOK THE MEASUREMENTS AND FILLED OUT THE PAPERWORK THE EMPLOYEE ARE THE ONES THAT DID , I HAVE SPOKE WITH THE OWEN ABOUT MAKING THE RIGHT AND IF IT WAS NOT I WAS CONTACTING THE BETTER BUSINESS BURIO AND SHE ADVISED ME NOT TO DO SO , IT TAKES US AT LEAST 45 MIN TO GET TO THE SHOP AND COST 2.50 EACH TIME WE GO DOWN AND THEN PLUS OUR GAS AND TIME , I THINK THEY NEED TO ACCOMIDATE US A LOT BETTER .Desired Settlement: REIMBURSEMENT FOR TRAVEL TIME AND OR DRESS AND THE THE FINISHED PRODUCT TO BE FINISHED AND FIT PERFECT

Please see the attached signed contract we have with this customer which shows that what she states is patently false. A specific line to the contract was added stating the customer did not want extra length -- which she initialed. The customer specifically initialed that she wanted a size 12. We have customers initial items when we have suggested something else (like extra length, a bigger size, etc.) than what the customer has us get in order to avoid claims like this. Ms. [redacted] states no one went over the contract with her and she didn't want to pay in full yet she did pay in full AND signed the contract. The dress did come in way too tight because Ms. [redacted] increased 2.5 inches in every measurement and was too short because she refused extra length. Though we have no obligation whatsoever per the contract to provide any sort of refund, reimbursement or free services to remedy the situation caused by her we have taken care of this situation to a degree (and at our cost) that we feel most other small businesses would not even consider.
