quoted $444 including shipping if it was repairable and that could not be determined until we could inspect it. We did indicate at the time that if this used worn out driveshaft (called a core) was not repairable it would have a core value of less than $100. If it was not repairable we could scrap it for him or he could pay a shipping charge and we would send it back to him. At this point he has not spent a single dollar. [redacted] did in fact loose the worn out core driveshaft and I cannot argue that. We did receive the empty box though. We did provide a [redacted] shipping label as a convenience to the customer. Customer was responsible for packaging the product in a suitable manner to survive the transportation. This brings the question as to how it was packaged and the packaging apparently came apart and became separated from packaging/box during the shipment. This could very well explain why it got lost and we received the empty packaging with a shipping label on it. So [redacted] lost an old non serviceable core driveshaft. So then [redacted] tries to file a claim with [redacted] for $1646 for the price of a new driveshaft from the dealer. [redacted] limit was $100 for this used non-working core driveshaft. We paid the customer what [redacted] paid us, exactly $100. We feel the customer is unrealistically expecting to get a new $1646 driveshaft without spending any money. We did tell [redacted] that we would see if we could make a replacement driveshaft for him. We provided a quote of the same $444 as originally quoted and we would absorb the additional cost associated with providing/building a replacement. He indicated he preferred to go to the dealer and get a new driveshaft. Desired Settlement: "Would like to receive my claimed refund for lost part in the amount of $1646.86 or get my part back in the original state" I can't produce a used, worn out non-working driveshaft that [redacted] lost. It quite likely would not have been lost if [redacted] had packaged his driveshaft better. He also indicated that we were rude and that is not correct. We are very nice to deal with but I am sure at some point we were a bit taxed after multiple attempts to explain that neither [redacted] nor Driveshaft Specialist is going to pay out $1646.86 for a lost, non-working core driveshaft. Expecting [redacted] insurance to cover this amount borders on insurance fraud and from the comments he made on the phone it was indicated this would not bother him. It would bother us and we do not conduct business in that manner. I am sorry this happened. We tried to assist and do what we could to get me [redacted] taken care of in a timely manner. Maybe he should have accepted our option of buying a replacement shaft from us for $444. This option is no longer available [redacted]
