MC Construction Reviews (%countItem)

I have hired MC Construction many times over a 10 year period. Ryan C is a first rate craftsman. His work is of the highest standard and he goes beyond his remit in completing all types of requests. I cannot speak too highly of his professionalism. His rates are very reasonable and well worth every dollar.

I had a house inspection done this past summer to check for deficiencies that need fixing.*** took on the list of work needing done and was conscientious about getting things fixed correctly. He consulted with me throughout the process. he recommended some changes and I was thrilled with the way things turned out. He kept great records and photos of the work he did so when the invoice came, there were no surprises. I would definitely recommend his work to others looking for renovations done!

My wife and I had our main bathroom in our house renovated by Ryan from MC Construction. During the entire process there was much discussion with Ryan so that we were always kept in the loop and to ensure the vision for the bathroom was accomplished. There were no unexpected surprises. The work was great and done in a timely manner. We were so impressed with Ryan's work that we had him do a complete renovatation on our 2 bedroom basement suite for my elderly mother to move into. Again both my wife and I and especially my mother were very impressed. She loves her place and we love our bathroom. We would highly recommend MC Construction without hesitation.

Ryan C came to provide me with a "free" quote to remodel my 50 sq ft kitchen and do an update on my fireplace. I told him this is my first time working with a Contractor (***), and that I am on a very tight budget. Throughout the process, he continuously suggested ideas and upgrades that were out of my price range, which I did not know until he presented me with a $15,000 + quote. (He offered to do 3 separate quotes with various costs). I told him that I am in no rush for that to be done, but I would like my fireplace updated now. He said that he could do it the first week of July, but by the first week of August, we still did not have a date set. He kept telling me he was too busy and he was feeling overwhelmed so I didn't want to put that added pressure on him. I told him that I would be obtaining a few other quotes in the meantime. The following Monday he presented a quote for $3000 to upgrade my small fireplace, and I let him know that it is out of my budget, and that I would be using someone else. His email response was completely unprofessional; ***. He was relentless with his *** emails. When I asked him to stop, he still continued to send me *** messages. On September 19, he emailed me an invoice for $546.00 that included quotes he never even provided for paint and carpet. He did not advise me up front that there would be a fee or cost for the quote, nor did I sign a contract agreeing to the payment. Had he done that, I would not have invited him to quote on my condo as other contractors came and gave me free quotes, as that is the cost of doing business. When I told him that I would go to the Revdex.com to complain, he suddenly had multiple 5 star reviews pop up 2 days later.

This client first contacted me on May 12th and I met with her at her home for the first time on May 26th. In that very first meeting we both went over all the things that she wanted to do to her home. This involved and started with her main focus of redoing the kitchen as it yields the highest return on a clients investment. Specifically she wanted new quartz counter tops with the addition of a new eating bar with new lighting above, new under mount stainless steel sink, one hole faucet, garberator ,new kitchen back splash with under cabinet lighting & all new appliances. For the kitchen I came prepared with door samples & quartz sample books for her as we planned over the phone in advance of our meeting. She then went on to show me she wanted to redo the front entrance flooring & kitchen flooring. I suggested to make the front entrance, kitchen & floor area under the new proposed eating bar the same flooring as leaving it as carpet made not sense.
She then asked me to quote on freshening up her fireplace which involved re & re of her existing mantle, removal of her tile & drywall around the fireplace, installation of her chosen new tile with cement board & re installation of her existing mantle ( quoted $455.00 plus Gst, June 1st,QUOTE #***). Then I was asked to quote on painting her entire place and also change out of the carpets. I also got her a great deal on scratch and dent appliances from my supplier. So she was very very happy about the fact I cared so much as I knew she was on a tight budget, so thought I could help her save $$$ with my established connections with the owners of those companies.
My first visit with this client lasted over 3.5 hours & there was never ever a thought to charge her for my time spent with her. As I never do charge for estimates. However, this initial visit went way beyond a free estimate as I shared many of my design ideas with her. Including 3 different kitchen cabinet layout & changes with 3 different price options quoted June 15th.

Over the course of the next few months I was continually asked to quote by her on various different variations of the above works at her residence.Specifically a 2nd new option of redoing the entire fireplace wall in a natural dark grey black stone she selected with a new modern style mantle. Once again I complied with her request & quoted her August 4th.

I spent countless hours going above and beyond to provide everything the client asked of me, even 3 optioned kitchen designs with drawings she is still in possession of , samples , driving to my suppliers to pick up her chosen samples of stone etc, and very detailed quotes all while I was trying to manage and complete my other clients jobs I was already working at and was committed to.

July 28th I sent her an email and told her I could not invest anymore time doing Quoting to her unless she can commit some Work to me.

Countless email responses from her repeatedly said she was not in a rush, take my time and told me how greatful she was for all the efforts I was putting in for her.

I did not hear back from her again until August 8th when she responded at 6:15 in the morning, stating that she would like an additional quote to now just freshen up her existing fireplace but she already had that on June 1st quote.
A second email arrived at 3:32pm August 8th the same day, saying the business relationship wasn't working and she would not be moving forward with me!
Yet she had already confirmed in writing by email on June 8th @ 5:41 am by saying "Yes I have decided to go with you, How could I not". "I trust you & that's the most important quality to have in a contractor ( besides skill, of course!)".

I was beyond shocked and upset after all I had done for her over the past months.
On Sept 19th, I sent her an Invoice for $520 or 8 hours of my time plus gst, which I felt was more than fair and only a small fraction of the actual time I had exhausted for her.

I did not do a written signed contract with this client as I took her June 8th, 5:42 am written email correspondence as being her word that she was hiring me. This client used me for my expertise and had me design her kitchen and proceeded with a lower priced contractor for every different project she asked me to quote her on in her home. I was very upset by this as I tried to make her my priority every step of the way. I went way above and beyond for her and did more for her than I usually do without a commitment of the work.

Both parties reacted unprofessionally in our responses due to emotions getting in the way. I do not find it wrong to charge for a small fraction of my time considering I was working with her for two months before she awarded me the job and she is still in possession of all my kitchen lay outs and plans as of this moment.

I have never in my career of 22 years had to this situation happen. This situation has made me realize I need to improve the way I go about dealing with new potential clients. In particular I need to better clarify upfront, what new potential clients expect my company to do at no charge as part of the quoting/ estimating process moving forward. Thus eliminating any future possible misunderstandings.

Ryan has made several false claims regarding our business interactions, and I am choosing to not go back and forth with this any longer. I do have extensive emails that can confirm that he was threatening, rude and unprofessional when I decided to not hire him. My biggest concern is that he sent me an invoice for his "free estimate" without advising me that there would be any cost. If he is going to charge for this service, I should have been advised right from the beginning, and asked me to sign a contract. Many other reputable contractors do not charge for this service, and if they lose a contract, then that is the cost of doing business. Ryan has threatened to put a builders' lien on my condo and take me to court for his poor business practices. I will be prepared if he wishes to put even more time, money and energy to this situation.

I am not going to battle back and forth with a client who never gave me any business. It is clearly for the best that we did not work together as it is very clear this client would be very difficult to work for. I would much rather waste my time and efforts on customers who value me for my time and quality of work over those who are trying to tarnish my near perfect reputation.

Ryan did great work for us at the ***. He had lots of helpful suggestions for style and productivity. Our project was on time but slightly over budget. Ryan keeps pushing to try and make thinkgs perfect. Overall we were very happy with his work and would not hesitate to use his services again.

Thank you John! It was a very fun and exciting project.
The end results are awesome. And like you said the works I did are the first things the patients notice.

Ryan was hired to replace my house siding, multiple doors, trim, and locks. He was very good. Methodical, meticulous. Reminded me of the days my dad did work around the house. Always cleaned up after himself. Cleaner than when I left it. His rates for the work was very reasonable. Never came home to a surprise as the majority of work was performed while I was at work. I strongly recommend him and have already had a conversation for a second round of construction.

Thank you very much for your kind and honest review. It was a pleasure to work for you and I look forward to working on your upcoming projects.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ryan, from MC Construction, over the past several months. He is a hard-working, precise, and thorough contractor.

Ryan discusses the job to be done before undertaking it; he adjusts and modifies the job when indicated (retrofits invariably present challenges); and he concludes the job with top quality workmanship. Ryan takes pride in his work and it shows.

Ryan is generous in that he will make every effort to accommodate a client and do that "one more thing." He has helped me on several occasions, regardless of his busy schedule, which I appreciate.

I have no difficulty in recommending Ryan, from MC Construction, to anyone wanting quality work. I am thrilled with the work he has done for me.

Thank you and it was a pleasure subcontracting to your company .

Ryan is a perfectionist and that's the kind of guy I want working for me. The kind of guy that measures twice and cuts one time, He is a hard worker and he will make sure it is done right the first time

Thank you very much *** for your great and honest review. Cutting and jack hammering all that concrete out of the shop floor late into the nights long after your shop closed was definitely a pretty messy , loud and challenging project.

Really proud of those new hoist pads I put in for you :)
Glad I went the extra mile to undercut the existing slab and put in all that rebar to totally overkill it 👍

MC Construction means quality & beauty. What I also was thankful was that it was not a problem living at home while our main bathroom renovation was ongoing, Ryan was careful so our home was not dusty & messy while he was doing the renovation.

MC Construction surpassed all expectations in workmanship and a reasonable price for projects needed in our strata complex. Ryan C was extremely responsible and conscientious in his work and also very good at returning calls and communication in general. All parts of each project were completed in an efficient and timely manner.
MC Construction is deserving of a 5 star rating and extremely reliable!

MC Construction's workmanship and attention to detail is excellent. The project took a bit longer than I expected but the extra time paid off in good results. My renovated bathroom makes me very happy.

Thank you very much Lydia. As with most renovations we seem to discover hidden unexpected water damage or rot in bathrooms. However in your case I was shocked to find how much damage carpenter ants can actually do to home. I learned alot from the exterminator in the process. If we never did your reno those critters would still be eating your home to this day! So scary !

MC Construction has done excellent job for my investment property. My tenants are very happy about the new renovation done by MC. Also It gains the value of my investment. Attention to the details and the quality of the job are the highlight of MC construction .
