MC2 Enterprises, Inc. Reviews (1)

I am responding to the complaint we received in the mail last week regarding [redacted].3/29/17 Wednesday- 8:23AM:  I first received a call from Ms. [redacted] regarding sewer line issues at her son's home in [redacted], IN.  I discussed her options with her by offering to either...

line-jet the sewer line out for $225-$300 depending on how long it takes to jet, or to skip the jetting and to dig the sewer out to fix the clog which starts at $650.  I also explained that there is a chance that a line-jet will open up the sewer.  She decided that she wanted the line-jet first.3/29/17 Wednesday- 3:30PM:  I went out to line jet the sewer line to see if the jetting will un-clog the sewer line.3/29/17 Wednesday- 4:18PM:  Line-jetting was unsuccessful, so I called her to discuss the excavating portion and to receive payment for the line jetting since it was not paid up-front.  She met with me that evening around 5PM to pay the line jetting fee of $225 and to pay half for us to come out to excavate the sewer line with an estimated total repair cost of $650.  This was based on the assumption that it was a broken down section of sewer and not a full replacement cost.4/1/17 Saturday- 2:00PM:  We arrived at jobsite to excavate the sewer line to diagnose the issue and repair if possible.  We excavated approx. 12' of existing sewer line and saw that there are not any breaks in the pipe, but rather it was a root clog issue and the line had to be fully replaced to the street.  We also noted that there is a brand new 2" gas main that was installed a few months prior.4/1/17 Saturday- 3:30PM:  I called and left a voicemail for her to call me back ASAP, since this is much more than previously discussed and would have to be fixed another day (this was Saturday afternoon and supply stores are closing in 1 hour).  Since 2 phone calls were unsuccessful, I get her son to call her so I could talk to her about the sewer line.  I explained to her that the estimated repair was void since we need to cross her driveway, bypass a tree, and connect near a gas line and the cost was going to be much more.  She then told me that they have been having this issue since the new gas main was installed. So we discussed that she needed to call Vectren to see if they could help with the gas line area since it was freshly installed.  She told me to do whatever I needed to do and she would call Vectren Monday.  We discussed that since this was going to take a while to contact Vectren and with the rain/storms coming in this week that we needed to give her son some relief by busting open the sewer line and digging a small hole on the side to relieve the sewer line.4/4/17 Tuesday- 8:30AM:  I received a call from [redacted] from [redacted] that he had vacuum excavated the sewer line and had 6" of separation from the sewer line.  He requested me or someone to come out and look.  I went out to look and took a picture of the separation.  I called her later that afternoon to explain the findings.4/5/17 Wednesday- We had scheduled to go and repair this sewer line, but we got stormed out.  There was hail, thunderstorms and lightning.  It rained 1.5" on this day. We had to reschedule.  I had other jobs we had scheduled that were not weather dependent so we resumed those.4/6/17 Thursday- It rained another 0.23" and everything was sloppy wet.4/7/17 Friday- We had a out-of-state specialist appointment that was scheduled a month prior and we were going to be gone the rest of the weekend.  This happened to be the first sunny day this week.4/8/17 Saturday- She texts me and I will attach all of the text messages.4/10/17 Monday- I started a commercial job in Indianapolis with another contractor that we committed work to on 3/24/17 and it was unknown at the time how long this job was going to take.  This was apparently the same day she called [redacted] Excavating.  I tried to explain to her that weather conditions and scheduling did not allow for us to come out to finish the sewer line the week prior.  It had been dry and sunny for the weekend and had not rained since Thursday.  It did rain later in the afternoon another 0.26", but the ground had a chance to recover from the prior week rains for 3 (three) full sunny days.  The "estimate" I sent her was actually an paid invoice for the work that was done at the property, the jetting fee and the excavation that we completed. Also keep in mind, I am a contractor with 1 employee.  [redacted] Excavating has multiple crews with an army of men to be able to take care of things on the same day.  This is an unfair comparison when she compares us with a much larger company.  As for the refund, I already explained to her that I have the line-jet/pumper truck, machine time, and labor in addressing the sewer line issues and meeting up with [redacted] on her behalf.  For the mess, it was already a mess in her yard from the sewage backing up and out of the existing clean-out in his yard, I opened up the sewer so there would not be additional pressure inside the house (she explained to me that the toilet was slow).  It seems that in her frustration, I get blamed for "leaving" the mess in her yard, in a contained excavated area, trying to help prevent costly cleanup/repairs inside the house. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.Thanks,Kevin Neal
