Our experience with McAtee has been terrible. They were dispatched by our home warranty company to inspect a clogged sewer pipe that was backing up into a basement shower. Upon arrival, they tried to run a line to find the clog for a few minutes, gave up, used our plunger for a while, and then left saying that they didn't know what the issue was and that they'd be in touch. The technicians were careless, left overflowing sewage water to run out of the shower, which seeped beneath our bathroom's floorboards (without telling us that there was an overflow at all). When I contacted McAtee and our warranty company about this, they denied doing so (though we had photos). The same technicians came back over a week later to run a camera, and left saying they'd located a clog. Then we received a phone call two days later telling us we had a collapsed pipe and it would cost about 2k to fix AFTER we completely demoed our bathroom (on our own, or paid them extra to do). Since then we never heard back from them despite our calls and requests for more information. When we asked for the footage/file from the camera, the office person (Ashley) said she didn't they they could do that and she forwarded me to Brett Imperial's email. I left him three messages, none were returned. They did contact our home warranty company with a higher estimate, but no camera footage was provided. Almost a month later, we've resolved the issue with another local company (paying out of pocket instead of trying to haggle with First American). Turns out there is no evidence of a collapsed pipe, but it was a blockage that they were able to clear. That McAtee claimed otherwise (and then ignored all requests for the camera footage that they were paid $325 for) is highly suspect. At best, they were incompetent; at worst, they are dishonest.

We were sent to the property for a complaint of the shower flooding. We attempted to cable the drain line and while cabling the line felt an obstruction that we could not get to clear. We returned to camera the line in an attempt to determine what the obstruction was, and if it was a broken or offset pipe or something lodged in the line. When we ran the camera we were unsuccessfule at seeing the exact cause of the blockage because of the dirty water, and we were unsuccessful at getting the camera to pass the obstruction at 9'-9.5'. It is at that point we recommended a permanent solution which is to open the floor up, remove the section of pipe affected and replace it. We can not speak of what another company did, or did not do but we can speak of what we found, and our findings point to there being a bigger problem and potential for future problems.

So two weeks ago today on July 21 I called Home Serve my sewer coverage through *** I have sewage coming from my floor drain first app was july 29 but I could not take had a important doctor app now mind you I have a sewer problem in basement next app was Monday august 3 then they canceled for august 4... So the man come in and says its not my sewer but I said sewage came up the floor drain and plus you can smell sewage. so it was decided by Home Serve and this man that it was a floor drain and its not covered which I disagreed.. So I had a company come out for $150.00 to tell me it was my sewer drain all the way out to the street 50 feet . I was right and the thing is I had to wait for this company for two weeks and got the run around... I have had this house for 20 years I know when it is a drain clogged and I know when its a sewer line.. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY..

Workman did not want to do the job. Immediately stated my mounted hose was in the way. The plumber returned to his truck to contact his supervisor to see if the job was covered under my home warranty. I walked past and heard him say it’s a big job or something along those lines. Very unprofessional representing McAtee and when he approached me to let me know his supervisor had talked to the home warranty company and it was not covered he had me on speaker so his boss could hear all. That is perfectly fine. My home warranty company refunded my money and took note about my experience with this company. I’m not sure where the fault lies as in my work order I stated antifreeze outdoor faucet leaking into garage. My home warranty company dispatched McAtee. I would not recommend this company.

Why are all the complaints with a home warranty company. I have the same issue with this company stating ‘modifications’ are needed - ironically the manufacturer of the hot water tank is replacing the tank at no fee, yet this company is claiming $450 in modifications. I had another company come in and said there were no modifications needed and they are trying to rip me off. I want my $75 co-pay refunded to me by this company for lying to me. - I will not be using them and will be writing this review on every site possible.

As previously explained on another review platform, we do not control what your home warranty covers or does not cover. We provide them with the details of what needs performed for the work order and they advise us on what they cover. McAtee will only perform work in a manner that leaves the homeowner safe. We can not speak as to what another company quoted, and why the scope of work differs.

Disappointed! Our home warranty company wanted us to use them, but they couldn’t come for 5 days. 5 days in January with NO heat and 5 kids at home. They seemed to not care that I would have NO heat for 5 days. I canceled my appointment and found my own company who came that same day to restore my heat in January!

Our home warranty company has us using this company. They know we are stuck and have been drawing out this process for weeks now, while we are without heat in our home. There was a 5 day wait to get on the calendar to begin with. After an emergency scheduling problem, McAtee put us at the end of the line and we had to wait 5 more days to have a technician come out. A part had to be ordered and we were told we would have it in a day or two. We are now being told we have to wait a week for someone to come back and fix it. It is frustrating that we are waiting on a simple valve - it seems they should be able to work us in. The technicians first comment was how cold it is in our hours - of course it is, we are on 3 weeks without heat and McAtee's staff doesn't seem to care. Will never recommend this company and would never use them if it weren't for being stuck by the warranty company.

Our home warranty sent them for our leaking hot water heater so we had to use them. Our home warranty pays for hot water heater replacement and basic installation. Our installation was pretty basic, however, McAtee claimed we would owe them $485 for "modifications" that were not covered by our warranty. Absolute scam.

Non covered items need to be discussed with your service provider. We simply notify the provider exactly what the replacement will consist of and they dictate what is covered and what is not.

Chase came out today and saw the problem with my A/C in a matter of minutes. He was extremely professional and did a great job!

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We value customer feedback, and it is much appreciated.

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Do not have these people do work on your homes; they will leave a mess and an unfinished job. Not to mention take half a lifetime to even work. They are no-shows and absentees. They are unprofessional, inexperienced, and just don’t care. I tried contacting the manager and all he could say was sorry ever time. I tried the Revdex.com and nothing was resolved. I’m done after this, but I just have to warn other people, especially people with Home Warrantees. DON’T USE MCATEE!

This homeowner has a third party service provider that contracts McAtee to perform work orders specific to the terms and conditions of said product warranty. McAtee has to perform these jobs per the t/c's of the service provider fulfillment with homeowners (their customer). Approval processes and such items are corresponded to the service provider to fulfill the warranty claim/incident throughout the process of making repair(s). In this instance, McAtee does concur that the process to fix the leaks were cumbersome in nature and not timely.
McAtee attempted to perform tasks not associated with the terms/conditions of the service provider such as patching drywall and access panel to bath utilities free of charge to the homeowner. In addition, McAtee did not charge the service provider for these non-covered items either...simply an act of customer service to comp to this homeowner.
McAtee performs 400 specific service provider work orders per week for homeowners across five states that include GA, SC, WV, OH, and MI. However, McAtee is also subject to the service providers terms and conditions to fulfill these work orders. McAtee's customer is the service provider in these cases.
The $95 service fee is charged by the service provider and not McAtee. Thus, the reimbursement should be requested from service provider. McAtee charged homeowner zero fees for work performed at residence.

This company is horrid, we called in a repair to our furnace through our home warranty, furnace was working but the fan would kept blowing. On 10/23/17 their tech came out and now the igniter is broken he claim, now the furnace isn't working at all. Makes me think he broke it while looking at it, now we have no heat. He claimed he had to order the part, here it is 10/25/17 cold at night and I have a parrot that can't be cold and we still have had no status calls or anything. I have called the warranty company everyday and all they get is a voicemail saying they will call the customer back in 15 mins but that never happens. So I finally had the warranty company cancel them and got another contractor to come out. You all shouldn't be in business, why sign up to do warranties if you don't like the business. Thanks for making me have to go buy dangerous space heaters.
