McBride Masonry Reviews (1)

Review: Several attempts have been made to resolve issues between McBride Masonry, LLC (our general contractor) and we the homeowner. Mcbride advertises the Revdex.com logo and as a result we felt that we were getting quality, reliable workmanship. The experiences that we encountered with both Mcbride and his sub-contractors have been disappointing and unprofessional.

McBride entered into a specific written agreement with us and our bank to complete a residential renovation project. An itemized, detailed scope of work was drafted and agreed upon by all parties and this work has not been completed. McBride has also received deposit monies from us for the sole purpose of moving the job along quickly while awaiting funds from bank draws. After several attempts to collect these funds was unsuccessful, we entered into a second agreement on 5/29. This agreement spelled out the monies owed, and the scope of work still remaining to be complete. From 5-29 though yesterday (approx. 40 days) McBride has shown almost zero progress and has been unresponsive to our phone calls and emails. There is still much work to be completed as evidenced by our bank's project inspector, photographs, and our agreements. In addition to outstanding work, Mcbride and his subcontractors obtained city permits, and expirations of such permits have monetary penalties.Desired Settlement: We expect the work to be completed to our satisfaction and approved by the appropriate city permit inspectors. Should the Revdex.com seek further information regarding Mcbride Masonry's business practices, we can provide details and supporting evidence upon request to ensure that other homeowners do not have the same negative experience that we encountered.

Response:

to whom it may concern, this is in reply to the complaint made by [redacted] about my company, mcbride mnasoonry ,llc, about the renovation at [redacted]. this job was done as a construction loan from wells fargo mortgage company. from day one before we even started the job **.[redacted] was in a rush about everything about the job because of a deadline they had to close on the property. we were not thier first choice of contractor for the job, but they couldnt get another contractor approved for the construction loan in time. within 2-3 weeks of closing we drafted a preliminary scope of work for the bank to approve, this proved to ultimatley be our contract. the verbage in the contract was general, everything to be done on a contractor grade scale, and any upgrades to be taken care of by homeowner at thier discretion. and also because of the scope, being a "non-structural " rehab, we didnt have a set of prints to work from. this proved to cause many of the communication problems we encountered throughout the process. we were straight up from day one with the [redacted]s that we were not in a position to front the cost of this project, but would work with them as much as possible. which we did throughout. they decided to put $10,000. of thier own monies up front to get the project moving. and we agreed to pay these monies back on completion and our final draw from the bank. we encountered structural issues from the start, bad floors that needed reframing, as well as electrical upgrades. this added time on the project as well as an additional cost. it was agreed by all parties as well as the bank this was beyond the scope. 2 months in to the project **. [redacted] became impossible to communicate with. items that were discussed one day, the next day would be completely changed, even to the point that he took it on himself to demolish areas of the house that were already done, and cleaned, because he felt he should have his way regardless of what was included in scope.at this point we only communicated with [redacted]. [redacted] who is a very kind and reasonable person, and issues were easier to work out. we would receive a nasty or threatening email regularly from **.[redacted] all along the way as we tried to work. we worked past the nonsense, and hit further snags when it came time to pick finish products, such as tiles, trims, etc. the [redacted]s delayed choosing tiles almost 3 weeks, which further added time on the job completions. and when it came time to release the funds for draw #4 **. [redacted] held the funds and forced our hand to sign off on his timeline and answer why the job is over time according to him. we responded with a similar letter directly to bank representative explaining the cause of all the delays. on the last stretch, when all that was left was railings and a small punch list, mostly paint touch ups, we presented what rail systems were in the budget and what cost was alloted. we waited another 2-1/2 weeks to hear a response. we also were not provided with front or back door paint untill well into june. we ultimatley want to finish the job, which will be complete by 7-31-13, get our draw and pay the [redacted]s thier monies they have invested in the project as well. it has been the worst customer experience I have ever had, and all of our subcontractors feel the same way, have been verbally abused, and mistreated by **.[redacted]. we would never do anything to jeapordize our buisness or standing with a customer or the Revdex.com. we have fufilled our contract, and have always done everything within reason to satisfy the customer. but there is a point where we draw the line as to what is agreed on, what is being paid for and how we allow ourselves as a company to be treated as well. we will have fufilled our obligation to the [redacted]s on final approval of our work though the city, which is done except for one item- exchanging a flex dryer hose for a fixed pipe. this is being done tomorrow, 7-26-13 and final inspection is being called for monday. all other punch list items are done, and we have full intention on returnuing any monies owed on receipt of final holdback. please take this into consideration, and have full confidence we will do all we can to finish this job and move on. I can be rerached at [redacted] to answer any questions that may remain. thank you-[redacted] mcbride, owner
