Review: am writing from home this on the "birthday surprise weekend" My husband so graciously arranged for me at the expensive McCaffrey house because we left in the middle of the night from this horrible place. Something we had never done from any place we have stayed. [redacted] the owner's behavior couldn't have been more disturbing, rude, insincere and ungracious. She was the polar opposite of a welcoming host. The most I had ever seen. She was so anxious and unaware of what she was doing, it appeared as if she had a mental illness. When we arrived with our 2 dogs, we were not welcomed and stood there on the porch, while the caterer was going in and out of the house. No one said hello to us as we stood there standing after hours of long windy drive here . We both questioned if we were in the right place because we felt as if we were intruding despite the sign, when we turned off that said its name. It felt very awkward for us to be literally standing there with our bags, while people ran around around us. We couldn't tell who owned this place and [redacted] stared at us as if we were bothering her. When I said "Where's our room? I have to use the bathroom". I was ignored. She then proceeded to talk to the other guests that came in AFTER US. as if we were invisible. When we were finally acknowledged after my dog barked and she "GRABBED MY DOGS NOSE AND SAID " THERE IS NO BARKING HERE". "I WAS TOLD YOU DIDN'T BARK". I said "She's excited, she calms down, in a minute, and took her outside, after she told me they have a fenced yard and she and my other dog could run around. I wanted to say my husband explained to you that my border collie talks and you kept asking him if my dogs had fleas on the phone, but she obviously didn't remember and said she had talked to me, when I hadn't talked with her. No one offered to help with our bags and once [redacted] finally showed my husband the room, I was outside with my dogs, told him she had wanted to give us a room downstairs because of the dogs, and despite of making these reservations 6 months in advance, guess she didn't have time to arrange this. My husband and I wanted to ask her about things to do, since this is the first time we had been up in that area, but before he could she was gone, and she let my and I husband know several times she had a large party to prepare for and just disappeared from the room, which was a nice room, without a goodbye. We put our belongings in our room and left. When we returned around 8pm, We tried to make the best of it. [redacted] seemed calmer and was "super sugar sweet" now that her more important party guests with greener money than ours apparently were gone and her large party was over. She began to ask my husband where we had gone and what we had done that day and offered him cake that the party goers left. We were both so uncomfortable after begin treated so badly we came to the conclusion that the cost of this place was not worth our time, or effort and decided to leave. I called [redacted] from the car and let her know that we were leaving and told her how we felt like intruders and how unwelcome we were. She began telling me about how my dogs were wonderful and about her dog that she lost a few years ago and began saying how "bad I feel". Then the phone hung up because we lost reception in the Mountains, and my husband noticed a few moments later, that she had charged the full amount of the hotel for two nights. Guess [redacted] didn't feel that bad after all. I tried to call back but the reception was poor and we needed a place to stay because we wanted to go hiking the next day but ended up driving back home exhausted and now broke. Do not trust this place. [redacted] is unprofessional, untrustworthy and for lack of a better word off her rocker.Desired Settlement: We didn't spend any nights at this hotel but were charged for two nights. We would like our money back.

This is in response to your requested dated August 6, 2014 which was received on August 9, 2014. Our guest, [redacted], sent you the same letter she posted on Yelp. I was very sad to read [redacted]'s complaint. We want all of our guest who stay with us to have a wonderful experience.

When [redacted] arrived we were preparing for an even for Sierra Repetory. Theatre which was part of a fundraising package. We let our house be used for the event. The guests and caterer were those of the person who had won the bid for the party. [redacted] and her husband arrived around 2 o'clock, at the same time that the caterer arrived. I agree it was all a bit confusing. Our regular check in time is 3pm.

[redacted]'s dogs are beautiful and well mannered. The boarder collie was barking and I kneeled down and placed my hands around his nose as I would do with my own dog. I realize now I shouldn't have done that and I'm so sorry. I said to the dog in what I thought was a quiet voice, we don't bark here. I then offered to get the dogs water and let [redacted] know that our yard was fenced and that she could take her dogs off leash and let them run. I would have liked to have been able to offer them a downstairs room where the rooms all have an outside entrance to the yard. Her husband [redacted] booked the room online July 10,2014 and by then all of the downstairs rooms were booked.

The [redacted]s (the reservation was booked under the name [redacted]), left the inn around midnight on August 2nd. I received a phone call from [redacted] saying they had left and I said how sorry I was that they left. We spoke a moment and because the cell phone reception was bad we were disconnected. I then ran their credit card for $415.80. Had they stayed for two nights the charges would have totaled $580.80 [redacted] had ordered flowers to be in the room upon arrival. But, after I read the review on Yelp I realized I had overcharged them $97.90. I then sent an email to [redacted] and with an explanation of my mistake and credited his account the $97.90. I also invited them all back to be our guest for a two night stay. [redacted] then sent me an email thanking me for he refund and stating that maybe in the future they will come back to the area.

I have faxed you a copy of the credit card and the email from me to [redacted] and [redacted]'s response.
