I have forwarded this complaint to dispatch for further reviewI have contacted the patient and he has requested we bill his insurance, however, if the insurance does not pay he does not want a billAs the patient stated, someone else called and he was in a delirious state and in shockEMS
providers are covered under implied consent to transport a patient when they feel deemed necessary if the patient is altered or a minorI will have the investigated at a higher level and respond again if requested
Sincerely,
*** ***

I am rejecting this response because:I never spoke to anyone from your company prior to making this complaintBesides that dayI was never offered any discounted payment optionPayment was never the issueIn this case my daughter was involved in an accident not of her faultThe person at fault will be the person paying the billI understand I am the parent and that is the reason I am being billedI have no problem with paying billsIn this caseI asked someone from management on that day to give me a copy of the contract with the city of Los Angeles indicted the billing process when multiply riders are being billedAlso the protacal for transporting vitims in an over turned vehicalMy request was deniedMy main issue was my child was transported to the hospital after being involved in a roll over accident, sitting on a counter top inside your ambulanceThis is not proper protacalThen to find each each family was bill over $This is insanepassengers including my daughterKeep in mind the insurance company paid $now you are trying to get more from meThen lie and say I had a problem with the moneyNo I have a problem with the serviceI am not satisfied

McCormick Ambulance strives to provide the best service possible to our service areasWe are contracted with Los Angeles County to assist them in providing and transporting patients in emergency situations. In this case the patients father was offered a 30% discount back in April 2017, in
which he decided to accept and never followed throughThe account was reset for billing to provide the patients father with an additional days to pay the discounted amountAt the end of the billing cycle the account was reviewed and sent to collections since there wasn't a response, nor a payment from the patient's father. There isn't a State or Federal regulation for commercial insurances that require providers to discount ambulance transports when multiple people are involvedHowever, McCormick Ambulance does have a very lenient discount policy, as well as we offer interest free monthly payment plans. MrWells had made an agreement with McCormick Ambulance and decided not to honor that agreementUnfortunately, this account is now in collections and any further arrangements will have to be made with the credit agency

The employees involved in the incident that occurred on November 20, involving the car accident have been interviewed, Both crews have confirmed that people were nottransported in the same unit. Unit confirmed that they transported patients, One on the gurney and one inr the CPR seat (Next to the countertop)Unit confirmed that originally they had patients in the ambulance, however were released and were transportedAt the time the patients were in the unit patient was placed On the gurney, in the captain's chair, and the remaining were transported on the bench seatThis varas the unit the patient was transported inNeither of these placements involve placing the patient an the countertop. Los Angeles County Fire Department was on scene and directed our crews to transport the remaining occupants to the hospital for evaluation. The allegations that the patient was transported on a countertop are unfounded due to the physical size (space) of the countertop prevents any size patient from being transported there. As far as the billing practices are concerned all providers and suppliers must follow the regulations from the Department of Managed Healthcare and the Federal Regulations put out by CMSThe only regulation for discounting mufti-patient transports is posted by CMS and covers only patients covered by Medicare. McCormick Ambulance understands that emergencies occur, and many do not plan for the extra costWe value our patients and their treatment and care are our biggest concernWe are always willing to work with our patients and customize payment arrangement that are best for them. In April the patients father called and was offered a 30% discount off his co-paymentlie accepted the agreement but never followed throughi would be happy to uphold that agreement if he would like to call and resolve the account
