In late 2011, [redacted] had his 1997 BMW 740 iL repaired at our facility. Repairs for his [redacted] Insurance claim started...

on September 20, 2011 and were completed on October 5, 2011. On September 5, 2013 he contacted our collision center because he was having paint issues with his vehicle’s hood. We notified Mr. [redacted] that because he lived in Phoenix and our facility is in Flagstaff, we would have a paint representative from [redacted] schedule a date and time with Mr. [redacted] to inspect his paint issues. [redacted] of Leading Edge met with Mr. [redacted] at [redacted]. The body shop manager [redacted] had the vehicle exterior washed so the BMW could be inspected. After inspecting the vehicle, [redacted] and [redacted] agreed that some kind of foreign material had splattered on the paint. Not only did the hood have spots, but the bumper cover, left fender, left mirror, and left headlamp assembly all had the same paint issue. However, during the initial repairs the only parts that were painted were the hood, and the left and right fenders were blended with clear coat. The paint issues were on panels that weren’t even painted from the [redacted] Insurance claim. [redacted] of [redacted] stated this is not a paint warranty issue. Mr. [redacted] was informed about turning in another claim with [redacted] Insurance for the new unrelated damage, per [redacted]. During the paint inspection process, [redacted] Insurance was notified and updated with photos of the paint issues. [redacted] spoke with a [redacted] Insurance representative about the paint issues after the inspection.
According to the customer’s statement to the Revdex.com, [redacted] seemed to also have an issue with the date the repairs were completed, stating that “on the date the car was to be ready … it was nowhere near ready.” Mr. [redacted] would not pick up his vehicle due to an engine noise. The vehicle was taken to [redacted], a local import specialist, and we spoke with [redacted] stated that the engine oil was dirty and needed to be changed, and the engine noise was possibly due to the dirty oil, the vehicle not being driven for a period of time, or possibly due to engine lifters sticking. The noise only happened when the engine was cold, and it went away when the engine had warmed up.
