McCrackin Motorsports Reviews (1)

Review: On May 10, 2013 I purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. When I test drove it, I did not hear any noises coming from underneath the front of the vehicle. Once I got back to Ford City (51 miles - one way)I noticed a thunk in the front end. (Town roads vs. smooth highway roads) I called [redacted], the sales associate from McCrackin, and was told to bring the vehicle back in and they would look into it. I took the vehicle back and was told there was a couple bolts loose on the bumper that they tightened. Once I got back into Ford City, I noticed it was still there. I was told, again, to bring the vehicle back. They went over the vehicle again and I was told that the balljoints, shocks, and everything underneath was all new and they didn't hear any noise, but sometimes a convertible car makes noise. I made a total of 3 trips back to get it diagnosed and was told if it continued to bring it back and they would give me a "loaner" car and look over it. I finally took the vehicle to my own mechanic, because I did not want to spend more money on gas for a 101 mile trip and at this point had no faith in them fixing it, and was told it was the front shocks and caps. My total expenses to fix this is $378.76 for parts and $182 for labor. For a total of $560.76. I was also promised an additional key for my car. Myself and my husband have called numerous times to see when it would be sent. [redacted] keeps saying he will call us back, but never does. The last phone call he said that it was in, but someone accidentally returned it and he would order a new one. That was 2 weeks ago.Desired Settlement: I would like reimbursed for the expenses to repair my vehicle per my own mechanic and I would like a second key sent to me or arrangements made at the closet dealer to have a key made.

Response:

Regarding the above complaint, as we stated previously we did agree to get her a key for

her vehicle and to have it programmed at a Mitsubishi Dealer for her, but she did not

want to travel to Dealer located in Wexford, PA. What we have done is gotten a price

quote for the cost of getting the key and program fee at this Dealership and I am mailing

her a check in the amount of $93.95 to have this done at her convenience.

We still are in disagreement with paying her for repairs she had done when we could not

duplicate the problem regarding a noise. Please see my other letter in response to repairs

done on this vehicle prior to sale and after sale. Whether it be when she rode along on

the diagnostic test drive with our Mechanic or when our Sales Manager and Mechanic

test drove it, this condition never presented itself. A “Noise” can be a hard diagnosis,

what we call a “Gray Area”. If we accepted everyone’s thoughts on a “Noise” on a used

vehicle that was purchased or even a new vehicle purchased, it could lead to any future

problems being “Blamed” on that original Noise s and any Dealership could be making

repairs on conditions that were not present at time of sale, and corrective measures that

someone else deems necessary whether or not it is the belief of the Dealership in

questioned.

In keeping with good faith, we also are enclosing a check in the amount of $20.00 to

cover her gasoline expense that she mention because of returning back to our Dealership .

I realize that now it becomes a issue of he said, she said, but we sold her the vehicle in

good faith. Gave her a 3 month, 5000 mile warranty at no cost to her and after the sale

we agreed to give her a programmed key at no charge, which at time of sale, shown by

the signed copy of What We Owe declaration no key was discussed.

1. IOU sheet was never filled in by me. I don't recall ever seeing this document.

2. At the time of delivery, promise WAS made to get me a second key. "It would be ordered and I would have it within a couple weeks." It was explained to me that they would order the key, send it to me and then I was to take it to a Dealer to get it programed. Again, I never received the key. I was told by [redacted] that yes, they got the key in, but someone accidentally mailed it back and he would re-order it. My husband called the dealership a couple days after they received the Revdex.com complaint and [redacted] told my husband (while on speaker phone) that because I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com that I would receive nothing. He then started yelling, "Are you threating me with a weapon", of which, my husband never did. We called the local police station after the phone call to ensure they were aware of the phone call, and the manner of [redacted]'s insinuation.

3. Again, I never heard the front end noise until I was almost home on 5/10/13. At which I called [redacted] from my cell phone before I got home. When I took it back they tightened rear bolts? The sound was from the front, not the rear. Again, I was made out to look like I was crazy, "Convertibles make noises". As far as the mechanic riding with me, he never rode with me on a test ride. [redacted] and the mechanic took it out a couple times and they never heard any noise. [redacted] rode with me one time to listen for a noise and I drove into the rear parking lot by their garage and we heard the noise in the front end. I never asked to drive over a torn up sidewalk! I was told that I could bring it back for a "loaner" car while they fixed it. Each time I went back, they would drive it, say it was good, and send me on my way again, promising me to take care of any issues. I was told the first time I took the car in, my husband was present, that the ball-joints, shocks and everything up front was new. This was with [redacted] and the mechanic. I am aware they cannot control road conditions, but when I was promised a key and resolve of noise in front end, it hardly matters weather I drive on rural, town roads or highways. Am I to drive only on highways so I don't hear the noise any more?

4. I called the warranty company about the noise in the front end, and was told that the warranty was only good for mechanical issues.

5. I did not purchase the car in "AS-IS/WHERE-IS" condition and was told that the front end noise would be resolved, as well as, I would be getting a second key. Attached is my bills to the mechanic, that was able to find the issues and the parts bill.

6. I want reimbursed for the labor and parts, as well as, a second key mailed to my home address, of which, I will then take to a dealer for programming as promised by [redacted].

We feel our actions are just and stand by the sale of this vehicle as a quality one. At no

time did the condition she has mention ever present itself.
