Complete Fraud, don't do business
My elderly father hired Kevin McCray from Mc Cray Architect P.C. on July 2022 to submit plans to the city of Great Neck to legalize an Addition. He told us that this was a fairly simple and straight forward process and that he knows the town hall in Great Neck very well. We paid him what he asked for and then he submitted one set of plans. The city responded asking for additional revisions to the plan (as expected) and provide some documentation which he failed to provide. We called, texted and emailed him dozens of times over the course of a year without a response. He took our money (a few thousand $) and skipped town on us. We are in the process of reporting him and will be taking legal action against him. If you're thinking of hiring Mr. McCray you should not! he's a thief and it's mind boggling how he's still licensed. I've researched him on the net and found out others complaining about him on the same issues as we've experienced. Stay far away!

2 Years Later, Several Listings of Inactive Status and 20k and Still NO Permit
Mr. McCray does not have the skill set to work as an architect in Washington DC. In August 2019 (yes, you read that correctly), Mr. McCray met with me and my fiance and explained that he would be able to provide the architectural drawings for the renovation project of my home. His prices seemed higher than other quotes I received but he explained that the higher pricing was because "I get you through the permitting process. All questions are sent to and addressed by me. You pay for the convenience of not having to worry about the permitting process." However, I soon found that on now FOUR occasions, my permit has been moved to the inactive status for failure to address outstanding comments posed by DCRA. On various occasions I was unable to reach Mr. McCray about the problem and when I did, he was nasty and unprofessional, blaming every issue on his inability to respond to DCRA on DCRA. When I asked that my money be returned to me, he apologized and indicated that he would address the problems. I arranged for staff and a personal contractor I knew to speak with Mr. McCray but both indicated that they could not guide him through the process. I then hired a contractor to act as a liaison between DCRA and Mr. McCray, only to learn that there were SIGNIFICANT comments that had never been resolved by Mr. McCray. Failure to resolve those comments meant that the permit would never be approved. Moreover, Mr. McCray continued to not only not address DCRA but the contractor I hired. In contacting and hearing from DCRA personally, I learned of the numerous and unprofessional ways that he had engaged with DCRA staff because of his inability to resolve questions regarding the project. When I called other architects for assistance, I learned that each required that I start from scratch because none were willing to work from Mr. McCray's drawings. Despite providing a contract that clearly states his responsibility to address questions and to obtain permit approval, Mr. McCray has now asserted in writing that a majority of DCRA questions and comments are "beyond the scope of his knowledge as an architect." Yet, he is absurdly asserting, despite acknowledging in this quoted language that he lacks the requisite skills for my project to obtain permit approval in Washington, DC, that I was provided appropriate services and the a full refund is not required. I am seeking a full refund and am looking to pursue this issue in a court of law to obtain that full refund. If you are able to assist me in obtaining my full refund, your assistance would be most helpful.

Amazing demeanor! Very helpful and responsive. Remodeled my elderly Mom's main floor to accommodate senior disabilities. He made such an improvement in our lives. Very Blessed to have found him. Will use again.

I write lodge a formal complaint and in an attempt to be reimbursed in the amount of $4000 from Mr. [redacted] of [redacted] Architect PC, 75 Kendrick Lane, Dix Hills New York 11746; phone ###-###-####. Mr. [redacted] failed to complete the architectural work as agreed upon in contract. The contractual agreement with [redacted] began on January 14, 2012. After a full year of Mr. [redacted]’s delays, missed appointments, unreturned phone calls and texts as well as missed deadlines, we have decided to consult with an attorney legal service and advice. It was recommended by that attorney that we also contact the Revdex.com. Since the beginning of our contractual agreement with Mr. [redacted], he would return phone calls, emails, texts, etc., sporadically and in an untimely manner; always with an excuse and promise to complete work as specified in the contract. Our concern now is that with the exception of the permit filing fee he has been paid $4000, despite having not completed the work. He has subsequently become increasingly unresponsive. Several attempts have been made to contact him inclusive of registered mail from both; my attorney and myself. I have copies of the contract, preliminary architectural drawings, text and phone call records (from cell phone only), as well as copies from my registry of three Home equity line of credit checks he received from us for the completion of the work. Please note that he was given a blank and signed personal check (number [redacted]) on 5/29/12. He stated that on or about that date he would file for the building permit with the Town of Brookhaven. The check was written for the purposes of paying fees associated with that transaction; fee’s he said he would not know until he went to file. His best estimate was about $300. He had that check in his possession until 10/1/12 at which time he returned it to me as he still had not yet filed with the town. On that same date I wrote him another check (number [redacted]) for the same purpose because too much time had elapsed with (check [redacted]). To date I have not received the permit. I have contacted the bank to stop payment for that check. I have also contacted my bank to get actual copies of the cashed equity loan checks (numbered [redacted] and [redacted]). If you require any additional information, please feel free to contact me via the information listed below. Sincerely,[redacted] ###-###-####
