McDaniel Trucking

Review: McDaniel Trucking provided moving services for our move from [redacted], PA to New York City. At Jack M[redacted]'s suggestion, we had his workmen pack all breakable kitchen items, including glassware, dishes and serving pieces. Jack explained that they would be responsible and liable if anything was broken, but only if they had done the packing. Therefore, we paid $20 per carton to have them pack the breakables. When we unpacked these kitchen cartons in April, while Jack's movers were still in our new apartment, we discovered numerous broken pieces in one carton. We showed the movers; they phoned Jack immediately, who said we should itemize the broken pieces, replace them and send him the bill. He followed up with an email in which he stated: "I'm sorry about that carton. Thank goodness it wasn't your china. Let me know what it costs to replace the broken pieces and I'll send you a check." On June 6th, we sent him an itemized list of the replacement pieces we purchased along with receipts attached for a total amount of $889.33. We received no response. After sending a follow-up note on July 7th, we received a response from Jack on July 16th, indicating that he would have a check in the mail that week. We have since sent 2 more follow-up notes but have received no response and no check. Please advise.Desired Settlement: We would like to receive payment in the amount of $889.33 for the replacement of broken dishes, glassware and serving pieces that had been packed by McDaniel Trucking workmen.
