Review: Actually, the complaint involves four or five issues listed in the above drop down menu. On August 13, I ordered kitchen counter tops from [redacted]'s that were to be provided through McDermott Top Shop. These were promised in 4 to 6 weeks. On Sept. 26, they finally arrived to install the counter tops 2 pieces were grossly miscut and 1 was slightly miscut. Despite verbal promises to return and work around our schedule, they insisted on returning on Oct. 1 midday to install the newly remade pieces, causing my husband to have to take another half day off of work. During this second installation, it became clear that the third piece that was miscut -- which they didn't believe despite my sending pictures -- was actually a problem. They cobbled together an outcome that is less than desirable. But, the largest problem is that during this installation, they broke our sink. Their issues have caused us to reschedule our plumber a second time and he will need to make two additional trips (he was here last Thursday to install the sink, but couldn't). He will come tomorrow to install the broken sink temporarily, and will need to make a third trip to install the replacement sink (assuming we get one).Desired Settlement: First, they need to replace the sink with one identical -- at their inconvenience and expense. Second, I would like a reduction in the amount paid for the countertops. Third, I believe they should cover the additional expenses of the plumber that we suffer because of their negligence and incompetence.

Response:

We have taken care of the customer, Mr. had signed off of the job. We replaced the sink for them and tried reaching out to Mrs. To see if we could offer compensation however she will not return our phone call.

I have had McDermott Top Shop install both my Corian counter tops and recently granite to my kitchen island. Both were purchased through Home Depot. I had very positive experiences both times. They were professional, did a great job of installation, and both times gave me clear information about caring for the product as well as how to reinstall our sink in the island to avoid further cost of a plumber. We have been very pleased with their work and plan to use them when we build our new home.

I had a corian counter top installed by McDermott Top Shop a company that Home Depot Appleton WI uses to install counter tops. Now after just a short time the material they use under the corian just above the dishwaser is swelling up like a sponge. I have talked with a rep from dupont the company that makes the corian and they told me the partical board material should never have been installed above a dishwasher in fact the do not recomend the use of patical board at all. Now that I have a problem McDermott Top Shop not only does not want to repair it they want to charge a $100.00 service fee to inspect the problem. The big issue I see coming from this is mold I had the same dishwasher wene the counter top was installed and before haveing the corian top installed I had a laminate top for over 19 years and never had a problem like this.

I purchased a granite counter top from Home Depot in Lake Geneva WI. I was told the process would take 5 weeks and when explained to me why, I understood. I went on vacation for three weeks but my 25 year old daughter was at home and was going to meet with Mcdermott for the measurements. This was communicated to Home Depot and they said it was acceptable. Mcdermott called my daughter the night before they wanted to come out. My daughter explained to them that she needed to make arrangements with her employer for the day off and could not do this at the last minute. She asked for a couple days notice, Mcdermott informed her they would get back to her. The following week they did the same thing and again the next week. When I came home I scheduled the appointment. I was very upset that they were so unprofessional and would not work with us to complete the measurement. It is now 4 weeks after the initial order. We then raced to the warehouse a couple days later to review the marble and give them the OK. On Sept 1st I received an email from HD asking to confirm everything which I did on the 2nd. According to HD it would take only 2 weeks to cut the top and to install. 2 1/2 weeks have passed when I called to find out what was going on. I was told we were scheduled for install on Sept 30th. I informed them we would not be home and could not change our plans due to a doctor follow up after surgery. I was informed someone would call me back. Never did. Three days later my wife went to HD to complain. We were informed that Mcdermott is suppose to call, keep us informed and should have scheduled the measurement 5 days ahead of time. Two days later we get a call from Mcdermott telling us we are scheduled for install on the 30th. Again we said no it will not work. Still waiting to get the tops. Do not do business with Mcdermott. It was obvious they have too much work and don't give a [redacted] about the customer. Home Depot should be aware.

Review: We had counters installed in the winter of 2016. We love the stone but the number of issues that we've had to deal with regarding install and trying to get those rectified have been so extensive and the process so frustrating that we need to involve an outside party like the Revdex.com. On install the holes for our faucet and drain vent were too far back leaving them 1/2 obstructed by cabinet frame. Additionally the seams were rough and raised. It took several attempts to reach someone to fix the issue and again we needed to take time off of work to be home during business hours to let a tech in to repair. A technician did return to fix these problems a week later and he expressed his own frustration at the poor install and asked for descriptions of the install techs. A month later we noticed that there was silicone that had been overapplied around the undermounted sink; after many calls and voicemails McDermott finally got back to us and again we had to arrange to be home during business hours to let a tech in to clean the sink and help remove the silicone. The techs who arrived to clean the sink used acetone and a razor blade to remove the silicone leaving scratches all over the new stainless steel. When contacted about the scratches that the tech left all over the sink McDermott suggested that I buy a stainless steel buffing kit and fix it myself and indicated that they would not repair.

The customer service has been the worst I've ever experienced, and the install has been awful from the beginning and continues to be an ongoing problem.Desired Settlement: Identical kraus stainless steel undermount sink purchased and installed at McDermott's expense to replace the new sink damaged by install techs and this replacement to be done at our convenience after business hours or on a weekend so that my wife and I do not need to take additional time off of work as much time has been spent already

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Hello, since filing complaint for resolution the company has sent a service technician to buff our damaged sink; this resolution is satisfactory but I still would like the complaint posted publicly if possible as our experience was thoroughly negative. Thank you

Regards,

I ordered a silestone granite counter top for my kitchen from Home Depot in Lake Geneva, WI. McDermott Top Shop from Sullivan, WI was hired through Home Depot to measure, provide the counter, and install the counter. The existing counter backsplash was to be included in the measurement, but was not included so the installed counter backsplash was one inch short. I was left with patching, sanding, and painting, which could have been avoided, if the measurement had been done correctly.
There were two seams in the counter backsplash that was installed that showed brown on my almond colored counter. It looked awful. I asked why an almond colored silicone was not used and was told they use only clear and white.
There were four scratches in the new counter that was installed. I did not see the scratches until the installers had left, so I called Top Shop and they sent the installers back soon after they left, so they could take pictures of the scratches. One of the installers sprayed the scratches and rubbed them with a rag many times. The scratches were gone, but a dull oval mark was left. I called and complained about the mark so they sent two men the following week and one man sprayed the mark with a different solution and rubbed the mark with a rag many times, but the mark was still there. They removed that counter along with the attached counter backsplash and took it with them. The next week two installers brought a new counter and installed it, but the counter backsplash was not measured correctly. I called Top Shop and said I needed the counter backsplash that day because I could not take any more time off. Two men came to install it in the afternoon. I had to buy the almond colored silicone for them to use with the one seam in the counter backsplash that was reinstalled. The other seam I used a small paint brush and painted over the brown seam so it matched the counter. They should use matching silicone for seams! I certainly paid enough money and it should have matched!!
It took six different times of people coming into my house to measure and install a small kitchen counter top and many calls to "fix" the problems. This was extremely frustrating when it should have taken two times to measure and install. I am left with work that I should not need to do if the work had been done correctly by McDermott Top Shop. I would not recommend them to anyone!

Rude staff/customer service. Didn't get the job done and were not willing to help.
