McDevitts Service Center & Towing Reviews (4)

I am the office manager of McDevitt’s Towing. We did not charge the customers for this tow the company that we towed the vehicle for charged them for the tow as they did service work on the vehicle. We do not direct bill customers for towing services that we provide for local automotive repair shops....

McDevitt’s fixed the tow damage at our own cost in full. We have tried to explain the fact that we did not collect for theTow service to Mary several times and she doesn’t understand. Our company dealt mostly with Mr. [redacted] for a majority of our conversations back and forth. Mr. [redacted] also stated that the 98 Ford Explorer was their2nd vehicle and they had transportation with their primary vehicle. If you have any other questions concerning this matter please feel free to contact me at any time. Sincerely, [redacted] McDevitt’s TowingPH: 262-657-2190FAX: 262-657-2188

I am very impressed with Mcdevitt's and especially with their oil change man, Rob. I started bringing our Kia optima hybrid in for oil changes because the dealership always took a long time. Not only has the oil changes been done at a good time rate but Rob always comes out afterwards to let us know any differences. He saved our vehicle from later problems this last week by letting us know we had a bad oil pan gasket seal. We took it to our dealership since it would be under warranty and they confirmed that it wasn't easy to find the problem but that it did have a slight leak and the seal was bad and changed it. Thank you so much Rob!!!!

Review: My car broke down on the high way I had aaa they were called there was an issue regarding who made the calk first the sheriff or me and it was resolved over the phone my tow was approved through aaa I asked the tow truck driver if there was any paper work I needed he reassured me more than once that no I don't need any paper work and my car will be on its way at 7:00 the next morning when more drivers come in I said ok. The next morning I could not reach anyone until business hours which was 9:00 at that time they told me that my car would not be towed and that it was currently at the impound lot. I wasn't notified of this I was not allowed to get my belongings. I felt I was treated poorly and mislead.Desired Settlement: I would like my belongings out of my vehicle! I was told the car will be scrapped and I have a lot of personal belongings with personal information on it and under the circumstances I should be entitled to get my personal things without being charged as this should've never happened in the first place.

Response:

On July 4th just before midnight our company

was contacted by the state patrol, they stated there was a disabled vehicle off

of Interstate 94 blocking an exit ramp. Our driver was on scene within 10

minutes to pull the vehicle out of the way. He towed the vehicle to the gas

station right off of the exit ramp as the officer had stated that was where the

owners of the vehicle were waiting to let him know where they wanted the

vehicle taken. There was a man and a woman, the woman approached the driver and

stated that they were from Milwaukee and that was where she would like the

vehicle towed. The driver then let her know that the cost would be $150.00 plus

tax. She stated that she did not have any money, the driver then let her know

the vehicle would have to be taken to our impound lot. She then told the driver

to hold on while she contacted her mother. He stated her mother also live in

Milwaukee and was at home there. She was asking her mother to pay for the tow,

her mother stated she did not have that kind of money and then asked her mother

what her AAA policy number was because she was just going to pretend that she

was her mother and use it. We are a contracted AAA provider and as a part of

our contract we are not allowed to perform a service on a vehicle for their member

unless that member is there at the time of the service. They will not pay us

for the call at all. My driver was not going to argue with her but we still had

impound the vehicle as that is insurance fraud. She contacted our company the

next morning and we told her that since she was not a AAA member and her mother

was not with the vehicle the vehicle was brought to our impound lot. She was

upset and asked if she could take everything out of the vehicle. Per our city

impound contract once a vehicle is in our impound lot the only belongings that

can be released are prescription medications, eye glasses and driver’s license

or photo ID unless the vehicle is paid for she threw a fit and hung up on the

tow manager and never went to the impound lot or called again. Hopefully this

clarifies the situation.

Sincerely,

Office Manager

Review: Tow truck driver ran my explorer into tow truck after I told him that there were no brakes. I am without a car for 10 days due to their error. They still charged for the TOW. It cost me extra to go to work. The least they can do is not charge for the TOW.
