Barring unforeseen circumstances like weather or traffic accidents, the rider should be picked up within that window. If the rider calls on the day of the ride, a more specific time of arrival can be provided since all reservations are made 24 hours in advance. Most of the Care-A-Van riders use the service for medical appointments. It is difficult to predict how much time these appointments may take. For this type of return trip, riders call when they are ready to be picked up. This can sometimes result in a large volume of rides occurring at the same time. Due to limited capacity wait times can be long. With this in mind, Care-A-Van is encouraging riders who know when they will be ready to schedule their return trip. Scheduling a return trip time will reduce wait times. Many of our riders reside in housing complexes where they do not have a view of the street or the parking lot. When we are aware of this, dispatchers phone the rider when the vehicle is arriving for pick up. We would not encourage the elderly or disabled riders to wait outside, especially given Wisconsin weather conditions. We attempt to avoid as many problems as possible. When they do arise, we encourage riders to phone immediately to allow us to correct them promptly. We are committed to working with our riders to deliver a quality service.
