McDuffee Design Group Inc Reviews (3)

The problem is very simple There are two parts to this issue:This client agreed to wait for the replacement table top until I would have a container of products shipped from Italy Their table top would be shipped in our next ocean shipping container at no cost This was discussed two times and agreed by both partiesThis past week, I was preparing to arrange a shipping container from Italy to a project in San Deigo I thought it would be a good gesture on my part, in case they were anxious to receive their table top, to offer them the possibility of receiving this item earlier So I offered to put their table top on this container to San Diego, leaving only the shipping cost from San Diego to Chicago at their expense Her options were not complicated: A) Continue to wait for a container to Chicago, as originally agreed, or B) would she want to receive it earlier for the $shipping cost from San Diego It was a simple yes or no question.I stand willing to complete my portion of the agreement to deliver the table top to this client as soon as my next container arrives in Chicago Regarding the chip on the cabinet door, when informed of this, we ordered a touch up kit with the replacement table top But these touch up kits include flammable lacquer contents and it is not legal to ship these by air freight They can only arrive onboard an ocean container At this time I consider the matter of this complaint closed and finished*** ***

About 2 years ago my company designed and installed add-on kitchen elements in [redacted] residence in which we had previously installed a complete kitchen for the previous owners of this home.  There were some shipping damages because in an attempt to save on the client's cost, we...

shipped by a consolidate overseas shipping method, in which the goods are packed into an ocean shipping container with many other shipments, thus it is called "consolidated" shipping.  During various unloadings and handling on the way from Italy to Chicago, several pieces were damaged.  We fixed all the items immediately, even under the loud screaming and insults from this client.  It was her husband who told her to back off.About a year or two later, we received another call from [redacted] explaining there was a defect in her wood furniture top, a 4 foot wide by 7 foot long piece of furniture.  I went to take a look and could not see any defect.  When she came home she got on the phone with me and screamed insults that I was lying or stupid for not seeing the defect, and that one could only see the defect during the afternoon when there was sun-light shining directly on the wooden top.  So I went back again and took photos after photos and finally saw a very slight imprint from the underside of the top layer of veneer which indicated a structural piece inside of the top was touching the veneer layer on the top veneer layer. The manufacturer would not give us a new piece but would sell it to me at a discount.  I made several further attempts to get the item replaced at no charge and finally after many calls, the manufacturer agreed to make a free replacement, but shipping would be at the client's expense.  I left a note with the husband of this complainant in which I explained the situation and before she finished reading the letter, she called me again, screaming a long list of insults, apparently not able to understand my letter.  her husband explained to her what the letter was about and she became somewhat polite.  So, I explained, consolidated shipping does not work well, and I have no future full container loads of only my products coming in the visible future.  I told them it could be a while before we schedule our next container.  Here it is a couple years later, and we still do not have a scheduled ocean shipping container. [redacted] husband called me a few months ago to check in, and I explained I still don't have anything scheduled.   So when a full container load of my goods was able to be scheduled for a shipment to San Diego, I called [redacted] and asked her politely if she would be interested in paying for the lesser cost of shipping the table top from San Diego to Chicago.  I gave her the [redacted] shipping quote, which was around $325.  Of course, the other option was to continue to wait for my next container to Chicago.  I was just asking this question in case they were anxious to get the table top.  Obviously it gave the complainant another opportunity to start up her screaming extremely loudly with vicious insults again, just as she has labeled hersel in the past.  I did not raise my voice, but I did tell her that I am not responsible for shipping costs and that she and her husband had agreed two times that they can wait for the next container to Chicago, which would not cost either of us anything.  She did not and still does not understand the situation.  She is trying to change the terms of our previous agreement.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Again Mr. [redacted] is trying to make this look like this was my fault and in no way  shape or form would I allow a cheaper shipping method when I am paying 30,000 dollars for a kitchen island... I did get upset when I tried repeatedly to explain to  this man that when you pay 30,000 dollars you expect to get a 30,000 dollar product. As for his claim that he fixed any damaged items that is false. I still have a chipped yellow shelf that I asked for touch up paint for that I never received and a dinged metal kitchen leg that he delivered and never replaced or offered to... His installer noted and saw it... As to the counter top the dent is visible on both the underside and the topside and is not a shipping defect it is obviously a construction defect. It is obviously a bad seam that is not properly supported. Mr [redacted] response to this complaint is again another example of his refusal to be accountable for anything in regards to this matter. THERE WAS NO AGREEMENT THAT I WOULD PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS REPLACEMENT COUNTER. I have been given the run around my complaints pushed aside and receive nothing but horrible treatment from this man. I asked him to stand by his product  and he tells me it is not his product and he doesn't have to stand by anything. Which I am not sure how that it is possible since he was the supplier on this matter and made money on this transaction. As for any conversation that took place between me and my husband I was not made aware that [redacted] had the honor of living in my home and hearing any conversation that took place between my husband and myself because the conversation he has spoken of I am completely suprised by... but again another example of Mr. [redacted] inability to run a business and take any responsibility for his actions. As previously stated all I am asking for is what was promised and not a fight. I want my counter top replaced and no further contact from Mr. [redacted].
Sincerely,
[redacted]
