I was overcharged for dental services 5 months ago and they have still not returned me the money.My husband [redacted] had 11 fillings done in January 2014. At first our insurance was not checked correctly and we were charged over $1000. I called my husband who asked them to check again while he was there and they charges were changed to approx. $800. I was concerned that we had still been overcharged and called in late January after seeing the credit card bill. They admitted to overcharging me as my insurance covered more than they had initially estimated. I was told that I was owed $340 and that it would be sent to my new address in [redacted] where I currently reside. When they money did not arrive I started to email [redacted] the office manager. She stopped responding to my emails. I then had to all over 6 times internationally to the office. Each time I was told that the money would be sent. I even spoke to [redacted] who assured me that it would be settled within a week. That was almost one month ago and I still have not received any money. I have had to pay interest fees on credit card for the last 5 months due to this charge. I have a young family and I am cardiology fellow. My whole family has been going to this dental office, but when we return to Durham we will be looking for another dentist. I will also be in communication with [redacted] who currently promotes an offer from this dental office.Desired Settlementthe balance on my husbands account ~$340 either wired to my [redacted] account or sent to my address in [redacted] via [redacted].Business Response Patient's wife had called and requested refund on account. She was informed that there was a credit and it was owed to the patient. Patient's wife stated that they had moved out of the country. Requested an address to send it to in the United States. Wife stated that there was none. Asked if the mail would be forwarded from the current address on file. Wife stated that it would not. Office not familiar with sending international letters or the cost involved with such a process. Check has been processed and is being sent to address in [redacted].

A credit of almost $500 is in our account due to an overpayment on 5/23/2013. Called 3 times in a month to request a refund. No refund given.My husband and I have a credit in our family account at McDuffie Dentistry. This is due to an overpayment of $414.88 on 5/23/2013 for services performed. I have called 3 times between 9/11/2014 and 10/9/2014 to request a refund. No refund has been given. We are deeply dissatisfied with the accounting practices at this dental office.My first call to McDuffie Dentistry regarding this refund was on 9/11/2014. The accounting manager agreed we had overpaid for services. She said she would call me back to process the refund. I waited one month to hear a response from McDuffie's office. During that time, no one from McDuffie Dentistry responded though a phone call, letter or email. Additionally, we never received a refund. My second call to McDuffie Dentistry was on 10/9/2014. I spoke with [redacted], and I asked why no one responded to my request. She provided neither a response nor an apology. I clearly stated my dissatisfaction with their lack of response to my request. I asked her for a refund for the credit in my account. [redacted] said she had no record of us making any payment and that the balance should be returned to our insurance companies.My third call to McDuffie Dentistry was on 10/9/2014 and I spoke with [redacted] again. I had a copy of McDuffie Dentistry's bill of services from 5/23/2013, which clearly stated my husband paid $414.88 on that day. [redacted] acknowledged this payment. [redacted] then stated that my insurance carriers did not coordinate benefits and that the overpayment may be owed to them. On 10/9/2014, I confirmed that the secondary dental insurance has already coordinated benefits with the primary dental insurance. The insurance carrier stated there is no issue between the coordination of benefits.McDuffie Dentistry has no legal reason to hold the credit in our account. The office has provided very poor customer service and false information regarding coordination of insurance benefits. I request a full refund immediately. Desired SettlementFull refund of the credit in our account. Business Response Pending credit on patients account due to an over payment from a secondary insurance. Patient had services done in the office and the secondary insurance overpaid on service claim. The office contacted the insurance company regarding this oversight and was informed by the insurance company to not refund the patient until the matter was handled at the insurance company. Insurance company stated that a refund request would be sent to the dental office regarding the amount of the over-payment. The patient was informed of the oversight from the insurance company and the fact that we may not be able to refund any funds until this matter has been handled. Once the refunds have been sent to insurance company any remaining credit is owed to the patient. At that time a check will be mailed to the patient to settle the account. Patient was informed of these actions and was informed of the requests from the insurance company. The office would like to handle this in a timely fashion and close this case as soon as possible. Business Response Spoke with [redacted] at [redacted] regarding overpayment and updates on account. [redacted] stated that they still have not received information from patient regarding Coordination of Benefits. Stated that the office should not give patient credit from account until this is resolved. [redacted] stated she will send another Coordination of Benefits letter to the patient for resolution. Also stated that patient may call [redacted] directly to speed the process of this resolution.
